In today's video I'm sharing my 1 week carry-on only travel capsule. Regardless of whether I'm travelling for 1 week or 1 month, the basics of this packing system are the same. I only ever bring1 carry-on luggage and 1 backpack with me. And even then, I've prob still overpacked because I end up wearing the same 2 t-shirts and pants the entire time...anyone else? haha
Let me know your dream destination & packing tips in the comments!

Where are you travelling this summer?!
Cruising Alaska out of Vancouver. We live just a bit north east of there, and Vancouver is always fun to visit- we have family there and used to live there. Have a great time Christina!
@@kamloopscruiser874 omg way too awesome!! Enjoy!
NYC 🗽!
Lithuania (Vilnius area), Madeira, Copenhagen, and exploring more of the country I live in (The Netherlands). I moved here in Sept 2019 so haven’t gotten to see as much during COVID!
We did a back to back 14nt Alaska cruise on Royal Caribbean. We had 1 large and 3 medium suitcases for 2 adults and an 8 year old boy. We used everything and even did laundry twice.
I have no idea why but I'm obsessed with videos of people packing. This was beautifully shot and edited (as all your videos are!)
Omg thank youuuuu for noticing! The set up was an undertaking! 🥰
I am too 👜💼😂 and I agree brilliant video and edit. Thank u and I look forward to the next one 🌟
Agree!!!
Me too Mariana!
You’re not alone I’ve watched more than I care to admit 🥴
Finally a packing video where the shoes are in a separate bag! Full shade to people who just put their shoes loose in their suitcase 🤮
The thing I hate most is when they out things inside the shoes… I get the space saving idea but…. Nope… 😂
I always pack a bathing suit regardless of climate - lol! This is a great capsule for midrange weather. Not much in there if things take a turn for the cool side ( other than your coat) or for the warm end of the spectrum. I think that’s why I tend to overpack. Had a few trips in the past where the weather was not exactly as expected!
She did quite well actually.
I’m about to pack almost 3 months in a carry-on and a backpack so, here we go!
I managed to pack for a month in a school backpack 😅🤣🤣
I still can’t believe you fit all that in a carry on. I definitely have to learn from you because I’m terrible at packing 😅
I always pack a pair of flip flops for shower and to use as slippers in a hotel (although at home I’m an avid barefooter ;)
I don't like having bare feet in hotel rooms either. I often save old slippers just to wear on holiday and throw away before I come home.
Instead of folding jeans and trousers in half, try holding pants by the ankle, placing the two seams together And then give the pants a little shake, they’ll fold almost completely flat! My mum taught me that.
LOVE this! We flew to Florida this winter for 1 week only taking a personal item (small backpack). We knew we would have to do laundry there, but everything is more fun on vacation, including laundry :) I hope you have a wonderful and relaxing time on your trip!
I'm glad you said you're not much of a traveler; I'm not either and it actually kind of gives me anxiety right before I go on a trip. We are doing a beach vacation (10 hr drive) *with our dogs* and then I will be flying across the country to see my sister in the fall. Thanks for the packing tips.
FYI, for anyone who plans on travelling in and around Europe this suitcase doesn’t qualify as a carry on, it’s too big!
Do you perhaps know the measurements for it to be considered carry on?
@@sirenamendes8604 Hi Sirena! It’s not a one-size-fits-all answer I’m afraid, there are some differences between different airline carriers, so it’s best checked with your carrier before travelling. But, I would generally go by Ryanair’s cabin baggage size limits, and theirs is 55x40x20 cms
Edited to add: and it’s important to know that this size has a 10kg weight limit too!
@@rosey_ie Oh I see! I'll keep in mind these measurements and weight limit, and check later on with the airline to be sure. Thank you for answering me!
I was going to say that, too! Also, all the airlines have thier own regulations about which measurements, including weight, are considered "carry on", so it's better to check the strictest airline (I think it's Emerites?) and use they're measurements.
I've been on more that a few flights where folks forget to weigh their cases and the airplanes were overweight even though people believed they were adhering to the measurement standards. Please remember to weigh your bag!
The guy who check the size of you carry on is from the airport security, not you specific airline!!! They check it with liquids, hazards.....
I love the list thing! I always do a list and plan what to take. I review my French in Babbel prior to travel! I use cubes, mostly to keep things organized. I put my liquids bag in my backpack. Have a nice trip.
Hi Christina, I'm a new subscriber and just wanted to let you know, I loved this video so much, I shared it with my clients in my weekly newsletter. Thanks for all the great content from a fellow Canadian!
Came across this vlog by chance & love all the tips & tricks. Also loved the luggage & backpack you used. I’m travelling next year to Europe for 2 months & only want to take carry on so these seem perfect for the job. Thanks
This was put together so nicely Christina. Perfect editing ... watched start to fin loved it!!
Thank youuuuu so much!
We are cruising again finally and doing an old favourite- Alaska. My just in case are 1 outfit for a heat wave. Some years it happens & I’m glad of it. This winter we’re doing the Panama and on tropical cruising I pack 1 warm wool outfit- usually helps coming home but also chilly evenings at sea.
You are an adventurer! So cool!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE your hair in this wavy style!! 😍
So timely! I’ll be doing a Victoria trip soon - just a handy ferry ride from Seattle - and this packing list will be very useful. Hope you have an amazing time!
Ahhhhh amazing! Have the best time!
This video is so timely! I am going to Montreal for a week (I need to leave Ontario 🙂) so this video is great! Why did I never pack my clothing in the zipped compartment before? Thank you for the video and packing list, Christina! I love lists!
Have a great time in Victoria! ☺️
Omg you have fun in Montreal! Visit Jeans! Jeans! Jeans! in Mile End if you’re planning on doing some shopping! Xo
Welcome to Victoria❤️🌊🌲I hope you have a wonderful time here! Yes 🙌🏼 to carry on’s!
Yay been waiting for this type of video 😀
This was so relaxing to watch
I really like your channel. Fun, natural, and very thoughtful. Hello from North Carolina! 🌸
"I love Ukraine" sticker on your laptop is sooooo touching.....made me remember who I am, despite the fact that I am not at home now.....
💙💛
I hope you and your family doing okay Olga 🥺
I will pray for u. I’ve been praying for your people and your country. My family is Italian and I live in the US. Our heritage runs in our blood, nobody can take that away from me or u. My 23 year old daughter has loved your country and culture for many many years and I have no idea where she got that from. Last year for Christmas, we both gave each other nesting doll brooches that were handmade from girls that live in Ukraine. For Christmas, I had given my daughter my credit card to purchase a pair of handmade beautiful red shoes from a Shoemaker in Ukraine. Months went by and I forgot about the shoes. Right before the war broke out, they arrived at our house. I pray the US dollars that he got from us is helping his family a little bit. ❤️
For me, I haven't used my rolling luggage in years (rolling luggage always at risk of being checked in if airport staff thinks it won't fit.) I just use backpack (I've never been asked to check in a backpack!) , and a vest/ jacket with lots of pockets (like fishing vest), then if you need a personal bag still, you will actually be sneaking in 3 carry ons instead of 2. Clothing has to be able to mix and match, and I don't bother creating daily outfits - doing that means you'll probably take 50% more than what you need! Take easily hand washable clothes, too - fast drying fabrics.
Yes! This great! We are going to NYC in December and I just wanna bring a small duffel. This helps so much!
We just got back from Victoria BC also with a side trip to Tofino. Beautiful area.
Love this!
We on purpose check in our bag (usually a medium size suitcase with packing for 3) because I hate having to travel with a carry on. My husband carries our laptop backpack and I carry a small crossbody bag with a tote that I use as a baby bag.
Perfect video I was needing some inspo! 🤩
Yayyy!
This was so helpful 👍🏼
Lol I just took a week-long trip with nothing but a backpack. I just wore a bunch of different shirts with the same jeans every day. I may have taken significantly less stuff, but you definitely looked snappier than I did.
Thanks for showing your makeup bag!
omg! Ananas! aside from the theme song, that is literally the only thing i remember from Téléfrançais!
Lmao same! 🍍
TELEFRANCAIS!!!! What a throwback.
since 2018?? GIRL
also, thank you for the pdf! im just getting into this stuff and that's very very useful :> have fun!!!
I knowwww! I cut travel when I was getting out of debt then the pandemic happened…and then just haven’t since! Haha
Omg YAY, you're coming out west!!! Victoria is a beautiful city, I hope you love it! Not sure if you're looking for recco's but since we are basically twins here are some spots you may like! :) Brunch: check out NOURISH (farm to table-style food in a historic building, v cute!). Shopping: LoJo (lower Johnston St) is fun and lots of nearby vintage as well as new. I love Still Life Boutique for clothing and Little Gold for jewellery. Also in the area, best coffee IMO is at Hey Happy. Haven't been to most of these spots since pre-pandemic but hopefully they're all still there! And Bon Voyage!!!
Omg THANK YOU! so far we ate at Tug - it was so cute on the harbour!
@@Christinamychas ahhh SO cute! Hope the weather cooperates for the rest of your stay (Vancouver has been so cold and rainy!)!
Wait. What ? HOW ? I have watched a ton of packing vids, & I’m still horrible @ packing. Somehow none of the others feel relatable or applicable to me. But this is IT! Annnnd ... idk WHY I’m not a better packer ! Maybe I used to be ? But for now I kinda wing it & am kinda “just in case” in my approach. I think I can do this ! I also love your style. TY SO much ! No big trips planned in near future, but I often do little trips & yet my packing needs improvement. I do aspire to travel longer distance again down the road. Have fun in BC !
Enjoy your holiday 🙂. X
12:49 no way!! I had no idea who u r and this is the first video ive watched on this channel and my jaw dropped when u said BC cuz im from there too lol
Consider flip-flops for showers! Also good for slippers and for the beach. Happy travels!
Good call!
i bought a set of suitcases last year but damn i love that suit case haha itlooks so sleek
great video! i am heading to europe and attempting to pack only a carry on for my bday week- wish me luck! lol
Oh hey! I'm from BC. Originally Penticton, but Im in Kelowna now
Finally someone who packs without rolling up the clothes. I've rolled mine for years and its proven to be a complete waste of space!
tele francis!!! love it
It's interesting that you don't use the compression panel side for clothes (not that you have to). Lol I think all the other packing videos I've seen put the non-squishable items (shoes, camera gear, toiletries) in the mesh zippered panel side and the clothes under the compression panel.
The fact that you fit all of that in your first packing cube is insane. That MIGHT fit 3-4 days of underwear and socks. I am so jealous of women for this reason haha
Enjoyed your video. I have luggage from Away and love it! One question, Away recommends packing your clothes on the side with the compression pad and your "harder" items on the other side. That's how I've packed and it works pretty good. Is there a reason you switched sides when you pack? Just curious. Thanks again for the video!
No reason! I didn’t know there was a proper side haha
I had the same question! You can swap sides and use the buckles as compression. Give it a try!
Cute curly hair!!
It's the simpsons cutaway moments for me EVERY 👏 TIME👏
I'm from Ukraine. Thank you for your support! It's precious ❤💙💛
Really enjoyed the efficiency of you packing! A bit confused though as you hadany liquids not packed in the allowable liquids bag.
Do the not really check anymore?
Big hug from one Ukrainian to another. Your content is fantastic!
Me and my oldest daughter have been slowly purchasing our products to travel to Europe with for years! I need packing cubes and a suitcase and I’ll finally b ready. Im pretty sure my daughter has everything she needs….except for the fact that we r now broke and Covid is still lurking around. My biggest question is, where do u put all of the stuff u buy when u r on vacation? I was thinking about checking an empty suitcase and keeping our carryon luggage with us on the plane, just in case our empty suitcase got lost or stolen. We live in SC, so instead of Italy or Greece, we will hopefully make it to Charleston, SC. Major plan change😭
I don't usually buy much when I'm away. But of course that's a personal preference. A duffle bag or other packable bag works well. That way you don't have to worry about carry around an additional suitcase. Plus if that check luggage isn't included in the flight tickets, you're basically adding $60-100 to the price of whatever you're buying abroad.
Terrible over-packer here, the just in case items always get me but on my last trip I was very practical and still had clothes I didn't wear. Im a work in progress
I'm going to Mallorca. Trying not to overpack, but really want to use all of my cute summer clothes that I can't wear that often in the colder nordic climate 🙈
I know what you mean! In a warmer climate I feel fresher changing my clothes more often than in a colder climate.
Lovely packing video. I saw in one of your replies to a previous comment that you're be staying in an airbnb. We usually stay in one now rather than a hotel and always chose one with a washing machine. I note that you're packed five tops and, I think, you're staying seven nights. Will you be doing washing whilst you're away?
Which brand is your bag make up? It's gorgeous 😍💘💅🏻👄💄📿 thank you ❤️
Where did you get all the packing bag?
When you go to Victoria, BC you really don't need to study French. Go to eastern Canada and Quebec than you can use and practice your French language skills.
Your travel packing tips are great! Thank you :))💥💚🧡
I love shoes that you had on while showing vintage Levi’s. Where are they from?
They’re the everlane re-leather sneakers!
I'm going to Toronto for just three nights in September, but it's my first work conference so I'm already planning what to pack! I've realized I don't really own appropriate shoes? So I'm on the hunt now!
A good pair of walking shoes is all you’ll need! Welcome!
If forced to live from a small suitcase for some time and the clothes you wear on the plane, it would actually be possible given what you’ve put in. It’s a reminder that you can still look stylish without many clothes.
Hey Christina, do you prefer the djerf avenue trousers over the aritzia effortless pants? I’m 5’8 and it’s hard to find long, flowy trousers that fit well. Do you have a favorite? Thank you 🖤
Djerf Ave! She nails the fit to me so much more!
I find traveling stressful so avoid it but I still watched your video.
Great video. Love the Ukraine decal on your computer!
Christina what a hair👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🥰
Can I please ask which suitcase you use please
Visiting Atlanta soon!
Love this! I’m packing for one week in England and one week in Scotland in July. Any tips? Thank you
I live in the south of England and Scotland can be cold even in the summer time. and in the UK the weather doesn't know what its doing from one hour to the next! I'd certainly include layers and even bring a light pair of gloves.
Too late maybe but major heatwave ATM south of England up to around 35c, normal summer weather in Scotland around 20c.
So yes layers but definitely warmer than normal.
I kept waiting for the crossbody bag in the thumbnail to appear in the video! 😅 where’s it from, it’s so pretty
Gracias
I’m such an over packer. My mantra is, bring all than forgetting something.
Btw, I think you forgot to pack your laptop charger.
Honestly I didn’t get back to you because I had no answers. I’ve lived in Victoria my whole life and it’s gone down hill the last 10 years our streets are dirty and the homeless problem is brutal so much theft BUT the food choices r awesome, I’m sure u had some good eats😋
Me encanta tu look.
Well done.
Oh My God! I had to stop the video and leave this comment because ANANA!!!!! Two years of high school French (in the United States) partially taught by a pineapple. Amazing. Smashed the like button for the reference.
C’est formidable! 😂🍍
Did you bring any skincare? If so, how did you go abouts packing that?
I’ll share that next! I’m vlogging the travel capsule and how it went this week! 🥰
Where do you get your trench coat?
Can you tell me bout the camera in the thumbnail?
Loved how you packed everything!
It’s my grandfathers old yashica film camera! ❤️
Everytime I watch these videos I'm a bit confused about the return trip, what do you do with tourist stuff you buy at the destination? Do you limit yourself on what can fit in the suitcase?
I didn’t buy anything - we usually spend on restaurants and food when we travel, but there’s def room to add a few clothing items or a souvenir if we got one!
The link doesn't work to download the list
You are doing great learning French! :) Come practice your French in beautiful Montreal ;)
Great tips! I am just curious about the weight of the bag? In Australia, we have a weight limit for carry-on. There is one airline that is really strict about it, but the rest are pretty good. Is that something that exists in your country?
Hi 🖐 I'm not Christina, but to answer your question about weight, it depends on the suitcase. For checked bags we have a 50lb limit, with fees for overweight. For carry-ons there is no weight limit, since the weight typically will be limited by the size. Same with backpacks/personal items/purses.
In the case of what she is packing, I have only gotten through the clothing portion, so nothing looks too heavy. But it wouldn't matter too much since she is packing in a carry-on. Hope this helps!
Yup in the US there isn't a weight limit for carry ons. And size wise only the very budget airlines are draconian about the size. The major carriers pretty much let bags 3-5 inches larger than the posted size go through. And many people go on with a carry on and personal and purse and shopping bag and... they do make announcements about consolidating to 2 "packs" but yeah.... We definitely have it easy. The Away luggage on it's own weighs 7.6lbs (about 3.7kg). Those boots are about 900 grams. So now you'd be down to 2kg for all your things on those airlines that limit to 7kg, although the average seems to be more like 8 or 10kg. And then there's airlines that combine the carry on and personal weight - meep.
Hey hey hey!! Quick question. What is the size of your bag?
It’s the away “the bigger” carry on!
Exterior measurements 57.7 cm x 37.3 cm x 24.3 cm
Interior measurements 53 cm x 37 cm
Weight 3.8 kg
Capacity 47.9 L
I love these types of videos! Thank you for your support! Hugs from Ukraine)
I love the “I
Also for raceeback white tanks, what do you use as a bra underneath? Strapless?
I usually go no bra or I wear pasties called Nippies!
I use a lot of space for medication and sandwiches. :)
Hilarious comment from my husband while packing for our latest 10 day holiday: "Packing is easy. I just take my capsule wardrobe and put it in a capsule. Done." I've taught him well.
Going to Scotland!
So excited!! Coming to my city
Tell me everything I need to do! Haha

hi! you wear a lot of white, how do you keep them looking good?! just bleach solution?
Oxyclean!
Nice 👍
Thank you for your support of Ukraine! 💙💛
Hi Christina. You said you're not much of a travel bug. How often do you usually take a trip? I know Covid has made it harder, but I'm curious how often you like to travel under normal circumstances.
Like once every 3-5 years 😅
@@Christinamychas Thanks for replying. This would be an interesting topic for you to do a video on because so much of social media/YT promotes traveling. It's nice to follow someone who isn't cramming fabulous trips down viewers throats every other month!
I’m not trying to be mean or critical , I am truly wondering how these clothes worked out for you? I’m not exactly clear on when you’re going but I live here in BC and I’m not really seeing how this will work for you…I would predict you will wear the hoodie everyday….it’s been freezing and raining a lot here. And I’m not even at the coast. I was waiting to see where your raincoat was…ahhh I just heard it..no raincoat…please tell me the truth…did you have to buy a raincoat? And how many days out of the 7 did you wear the hoodie?
