As many people have pointed out, please keep an eye out for Kaden and his eating. Sporty, healthy boys like him can develop eating disorders as well, especially if they're trying to be obsessively healthy. It often starts around his age! So, please be mindful and get informed, so you can help him be healthy in a good and healthy way.
you might want to watch out with the calorie thing, most ppl with ed's check calories and wont eat food because of it

Hi Jess! I mean no disrespect with this, but I would carefully watch how Kaden counts calories. I have had an eating disorder for 13 years, and the way he was looking at the calories raised a HUUUGE red flag for me. That’s exactly what I was doing at his age, when my ED first started. That being said, it could be something innocent, but I just want to make sure it’s something to be monitored before it becomes too late. There’s ways for him to read the nutrition facts and feel good about what he’s putting into his body without focusing on calories ❤

yeah i was concerned when i saw that. i really hope she reads her comments i feel like she never does because when she went to the haunted house pumpkin patch there was a flashing strobing light in the vlog and a lot of people in the comments asked her to please add a warning but she hasn't :/

Really hope that checking the nutrition label is just truly a health thing however when kiddos are so young and start to worry about that too much it can very easily spiral into an eating disorder. Just sharing from first hand experience. Started with our kiddo the same way, simple and innocent and just trying to be "healthy" and spiraled into full on eating disorder almost hospitalized a little over a year later. Kids should just eat whatever they want because mom and dad said it's OK and not worry about the rest in my opinion 😊.
Not saying any of that is the case here, just a word of caution because so many of us learn about this the hard way.

I mean this in the kindest way possible, but Kaden should not be checking and restricting calories, as an active kiddo he needs a lot of energy to feed his growing body. As someone who had an eating disorder for two decades of my life my spidey senses were going off during that part. I hope you can steer him into looking at the more important parts of a label if he is interested in nutrition, calories are the least important part and they are allowed to be 20% off on labels, so they are often inaccurate anyway. ❤️❤️❤️

Well said. I do not completely agree because eating like that can get addictive and should be adressed as early as possible, but you gotta love meeting a person that knows how to state their opinion correctly.
Retired healthcare worker . We never recommend kids keep track unless they have a health issue that requires it. Even at that the parents should be very involved so the child doesn’t feel overwhelmed by it. It’s better to help kids understand food groups for the day for health reasons and encourage physical activities
Keeping track of calories for most people is unhealthy, unless you’re trying to actively lose weight. I agree that teaching him to look at the fat and sugar contents is better and that reinforcing that everything is fine in moderation especially for a growing active boy. It’s also a concern that he’s a picky eater as it is and that mixed with being aware of calories can be extremely dangerous

My dad moved away when I was 10 and my brother was 7, now we have another brother and sister through his new girlfriend and I love them with my whole heart, every time I get to see them I get so excited and I love seeing them and it looks like it’s the same for your kids when they get to see Tommy and Kayden 💕
I know a few people commented already about this but I am another example of this. I know Kaden is a picky eater and I was the same way. That mixed with the calorie counting can meld with that and set off a not great cycle. Some terms I'd recommend researching is ARFID and Anorexia Athletica as both conditions are more commen in boys compared to the stereotypical anorexia or bulimia. I think you're only trying to teach him healthy practices, but it's good to keep an eye out because boys are more likely to get further into these conditions because people don't believe it can happen to boys but it can & can cause severe damage and long term effects. It's good practices taught with the best intentions but they just get warped with the anxiety or bad patterns/habits that a kid has with food.
Jess, I could see you were sad when you talked about Grammy. I now have a better idea of how you are feeling because I lost my own grandmother two months ago. It was all very quick and unexpected just like Grammy’s death was.

caden looking at the calories is a MAJOR RED FLAG. be his mother and get on top of that IMMEDIATELY before it gets out of hand. it is not a laughing matter it is not cute it is not something that should be public knowledge. go and get him help.
You seeing him looking at it when it comes to sugary/high calorie snacks one time doesn't equal a red flag. I'm pretty sure she has more knowledge about him and his health then you. And calories aren't the enemy if used correctly. And if he eats a healthy well balanced diet and there's no signs he's unhealthy this one instance is not something you need to go and get help fore. It kinda feels like you're projecting some feelings and trauma from your own life if one instance causes this reaction.

You have us obsesssedddd with Caseify lol! We got our 14s last week and we haven’t gotten our caseify cases yet so I’ve been sooo nervous without it! They truly are so amazing! I love how ALL of your kids love each other! And how they all “Blend” so easily. We of all people know how tough it can be. Different personalities due to different DNA lol, so they sometimes clash.
