Before the HE nerfs KV-2 can get the bombardier medal if the enemies are closed to each other but those days are long gone ...
I got one about a week befor the nerf hammer came down on my KV-2
I still can't understand how anybody thinks the HE nerf was a good thing.
@@RedXlVSuperunicums at tier X driving their Chieftains and 279s angry that the 60TP was butchering them for 300-400 damage using HE in the turret. Literally.

@@RedXlV it was not countering. It was just a braindead play when you basically dont need to aim. What was good about it? I definitely agree that 279 and chief should be nerfed but HE nerf was a good thing

It’s it ruined, not really, the 107 is pretty competitive and I think it’s better on the kv2 compared to the t150. Is it heresy though, absolutely yes

Facts!
That map was the "training" map on WOT console back in the day, restricted to tier 1 to 3. I always thought that it was originally made for this purpose and then after, a version was put on PC (with obviously different tier limits). It was a good map for teaching new players view range mechanics and why driving straight at the red team was a bad idea. T-Rexes and Lol-tracktors to battle!!!

I think for quite some time it was the training map for WOT PC too. Then they changed it with another map and again maybe with the current one (I am not sure because I didn’t play WOT between 2015-2019)

Do you think binos would become a competitive choice if it worked on the move, but only a narrow cone where you are looking, and when you stand still you get the full effect?

that's a really cool idea but I think it would be a bit OP at the current level of increased distance
It would also be OP as shit on any tank with a fast turret traverse, you'd basically make a radar station out of it where they sweep back and forth quickly and get the bonus where they need it anyway

The fact that binos and camo net arent free to demount anymore is a disaster.
Talking about old view range reminded me how max view range used to be a box and there was a skill to using the corners of your view range to gets a little bit further spotting.
Mate I remember how the province map had a massive cliff at the back west side in which you could fall down it to get to the lower levels and everyone would use it in custom battles as a sort of meme area
Bro i remember that it was so nostalgic, all low tier arties would go there and be invincible while shooting the crap out of everyone. Something similar can be done still but not in that area

i used binoculars for a long time on the kv2, it plays like an artillery piece anyway. With such a long reload distance is your friend.

I miss the old version of Province. Playing low tiers, 1-4 I believe it was, on the old map was great. I have it on my blocked list now, because it doesn't feel fun to me in tiers 6+. As for the KV-2, I don't play it as much after the HE nerfs. Thinking of getting the prem version so I can use both guns.
As a mobile player who started WoTB (gross, I know) way back years ago; KV2 was my favorite tank.
Once I got the 107mm I had an absolute blast. While teammates either roast me in all chat or mistakenly think I’m a “stock KV2”
Was always so satisfying getting 3k+ damage with a gun everyone seems to consider as trash…
Another reason for using the 107mm is not relying on teammates. A 4v1 with the 107mm is easily doable whereas the derp vs even a 1v3 seems like a lost battle
I never load any of the standard AP shells in the KV-2. The penetration drop off on that gun is so severe that it is possible to fail to penetrate a target that you have a 3x overmatch against after a certain range (at high end angles, the extra normalization still leaves enough effective armor that it falls within the shell’s penetration range at medium and long ranges, and if I recall correctly, the shell penetration on some low end penetration rolls can actually end up below 50mm at and above 400m ranges.

Interesting watching that as wouldn't normally go that side with KV - 2. At lower tiers binos are a must with many tanks imho.

I played this game for 12 years, I saw a lot of drastic changes especially the end of enemy chat, but this HE nerf was the last straw for me. I think now thick armor totally dominates the game.
QB should've platooned with him for a free brothers in arms.

There's a load of people on here that remember the thought process they went through regards this map first appeard. First it was. ''Meh. I'm not really into it.'' Then it was. ''It's the new thing in Wot, we shouldnt tell the map desinger. We might get more maps.'' Then finally, it was. ''What's the problem with it?'' ''Too small?'' ''Then how about maps for lower tiers with weaker radios?''

For a long time my highest spotting damage game was on this map back in the day.
tbf i tried the kv-2 out again a few days ago and after firing only standard ap i managed ~2.4k dpg in about 10 games (i was top tier in 7 of those games tho)

Aiming device? You've been playing this game long enough to know that Soviet Accuracy requires a bigger dispersion reticle so you can fit more accuracy into it! The bigger the reticle, the more accuracy it fits!

it would be interesting to play a few games without the consumables regenerating (so its 1 time use) it would probably change the play style to an extent

I mean QB, the new "features" which WG had implemented are mainly for Super Unicum and paying players. No free-to-play player asked to have to buy camo nets/tool boxes/binoculars for every tank or wanted the nerv of the HE shells or the Crew 2.0 update. Now HE is more useless than ever, the OP tanks are more OP then ever and you have to pay more (time) to play for free. 🤦♂️
Also the future Crew 2.0 update, it is more against free-to-play players.
And WG isn't even consistent with their plans, the arty is now more or less back to the status before the nerv. Only the pen and damage is less, something many people had suggested as a solution to rebalance the artillery back then.
I don't recall Binocs giving 25% increase in view range! And I've been playing since 6.2. At least on the NA server! 10% tops!
I miss the days when the kv could use the 152/107 on a tier 5 battle.. ahahahaha

Interesting to hear how little options you had back in the day...these days I often think there's too many.
View range is at times ridiculous, for instance on airfield can I see an enemy tank sitting at the end of the runway? Not always, but it is sat there in plain sight of your commander and driver...? They have eyes, tanks do not.
Interesting you carried some HE, I nearly always do on tanks with a decent amount of ammo. Do HE rounds destroy tanks? Yes they do if the enemy tank's Hit points are a bit low. But usually HE is about damage as HE rounds are not designed to pen. And they usually do a fair bit of damage to the tanks and they should damage modules and crew. I often hit a few enemies with one as I'm passing bye at the start of the game..if any present themselves. Bit of damage to start me off and they're cheap enough.
As for premium rounds I only use silver one's, I am not spending stupid money on a game just to have gold one's. I have used some gold ones but at times I haven't seen that much difference..sometimes I do.
As I prefer lower tiers I like videos played in lower tiers. I just prefer the older WWII tanks, they have much more character.
Now a question QB, as you mentioned Ace Tanker...
I have one tank which in the past weeks has amassed 22 Mastery badge class 3s...Always 50%. More with less than that.
I have some with 3 or 4 class 2s..always 80%.
A couple with MB 1...all 95%.
And one Ace Tanker..99%.
So my question is do you need 2 of each to get a mark on your barrel for that class?
So do I need a second ace tanker 90% for that one?
So for a class 2 should that mean I would have passed class 3? Same for a class 1..?
TDs, as they are designed to destroy tanks does the number of kills count more for TDs than for ordinary tanks? Same for bloody arty mcfarties? I hate arty mcfarties...Tank battling game...artillery ain't ruddy tanks.
And why do they NOT have the damn things ruining cold war games?

With that gun i would never go assault with kv2 , for its reload times its more , more of a support others

just use the pre-ruined kv2, the T-150. I don’t even play anymore and I still remember taking it into tank companies and just having everyone hate that I wasn’t in the 1S. lol
I wish we could get some of these better maps on the console version....the Abbey map is close but not as fun looking as this one.

It's a replay thing, a lot of the tank names in Cyrillic are different, this is the KV-2(R)'s. Not that deep.

I always find it funny when you say gun rammer over view range. Your gun rammer has no use if you cannot see the enemy. View range is and always will be king.
For some tanks yes, but in tanks like the e100 you are fighting in close quarters

I remember running my KV-2 with Vents, Camo net and Binos. I would spot people before they ever could and one shot them without getting spotted myself most of the time lol

If you have not the luxe to have the KV2 premium, no credit to waste into premium ammo, the rework HE just fucked you. Because it's too expensive to play the regular ammo with premium, KV2 was a chill and funny tank to play. Not anymore

how do i keep getting 1 shot in my KV1 fwhen i am face to face with another tank ? doesn't matter if it's a light medium destroyer or heavy tank they all 1 shot me, they shoot me in the face not sides or rear alwasy in the face and 1 shot me how the fuckk is it possible this makes me uninstall this shit game.
It was never free to demount equipment as far as i can remember. You just did it for credits instead of gold.
Binos and camo net were free; everything else was gold. At least, going back 7 years or so.

HE shells dont bounce ffs! 0 dmg with a HE shell and 22 sec reloading..a hetzer will destroy you until next reloading!
