  • In this Honda airbag removal, I show driver airbag replacement 2013 - 2017 Accord (change airbag steering wheel). To replace airbag after accident, proper knowledge and tools are critical. I first cover how to disable the SRS system. This Honda airbag replacement or airbag replacement on Honda, although done on a 2017 Honda Accord, shows the principles for Honda in general e.g. the duration to disconnect the negative battery terminal before working on the SRS as a well as the general approach to driver side airbag replacement on Honda.
This is part of a series on how to repair SRS after an accident. You may check out the introductory video to the series ( • How to RESET AIRBAG li... ) as well as the rest. The aim is to repair the car optimally and turn off SRS warning light. Air bag replacement on Honda Accord or any other car, is a necessary step and should be done correctly (safety and expertise are a must). This how to replace driver airbag 2013 - 2017 Accord video, covers replacing an airbag after an accident per safety requirements.

Other things to replace if any, will be dependent on the recommendations from the manufacturer and SRS scan results. Some manufacturers say that all their crash sensors should be replaced after any accident. Very bad design, if you ask me.

It won't, except you do something incorrectly. I did an introduction video on how to repair the SRS, it might be useful. What to replace will depend on the scan result. Either way, if an airbag of seatbelt deployed, the crash data will have to be cleared before the airbag light will go off.

    • @DIYAutoworksNG

You should connect the new airbag. Once done properly as described in the video, it will not deploy. You can then delete the crash data as soon as you are able.

Hello. You'd need to replace the airbag and seatbelt, but beyond that, you need to scan the car with an SRS-capable scanner to know what else should be replaced e.g. Crash sensors. After that you have to clear crash data from the module

I bought a used OEM airbag. New is $700 plus. Used varies. Ebay has for around $300.
You can either get a used driver seat airbag or just get a used seat. If you don't want to mess with the stitching and all, then the seat would be prefarable. Sometimes getting the seat may even be cheaper if sourced from a junkyard.

Sorry to hear this. Was it just airbags they stole? If its just the airbags, the light should go since the SRS ECU did not give the command to deploy any of the airbags, in other words, there's no crash data stored in the module. Right now, the codes you should have should be 'open or increased resistance' related for the respective airbags. Let me know how it goes. At worst, you may just need a scanner with SRS access to clear the codes.
