Hey guys. I really appreciate all the feedback and comments. I just wanted to say, I'm not like some huge Russo mark lol. But I do like listening to him, he's pretty funny and has some really interesting takes on the business, and I just think he's totally correct here. I see a lot of you guys talking about Corny too. I love me some Jim Cornette. Listen to him almost everyday. Like it's been said in the comments by other users, this is one thing that Russo and Corny actually agree on haha

You don't have to defend yourself about ANYTHING. Don't LISTEN to these haters!!!!!!!!!!
You’re an idiot and anyone who enjoys this clown Russo sounds stupider stupider every week lying weasel

They actually agree on a number of things. Another example is their shared hatred of Austin Aries.
They are the last two living people who love Jay Strongbow matches?
@@e2go Yeah...but Aries gets on everybody's nerves being essentially a lazy version of CM Punk. At least Punk tries to do something about what he's bitching and moaning about. Whereas Aries just Wines and complains then leaves (sometimes without notice) when he doesn't get his way.

The Young Bucks are the one thing in wrestling Cornette and Russo agree on.

Along with AEW
I don't think Russo likes Omega either
Literally haha it's one of the bad things of aew for sure... the first year was fresh cuz I'd never seen the guys wrestle.. after that it got old and I stopped watching unless MJF does something
They agree on almost everything about the current product.

Russo is right here, the problem with todays wrestling is its all about pushing guys who have work rate with no personality or charisma, the real reason why wrestling was so good 20+ years ago was it was all about Characters and Storylines
These marks who love these guys also say things like "Andre The Giant sucked" yet he drew more money than any of their indie darling spot monkeys ever ever ever will. I keep saying, work rate doesn't draw shit!
@@kgerlach01 Andre the Giant could work when he was younger. People need to watch his matches in the 70's.

The problem with Vince Russo was his writing was never long term. Both supporters and his critics agreed that about his writing. She can’t, she stole the man gimmick from flair and you marks ate it up.
@@KryMoore U do realize Flair stole his gimmick from Buddy Rodgers. There is nothing new in wrestling. Its just repackaged.
The thing I dislike the most when guys call out the entire match in the back instead of in the ring is it tends to lead to guys botching moves, and then doing them right there. Like a guy sets a person up for a superplex, the guy slips off the rope when trying to superplex his opponent, and then his opponent just stays sitting on the turnbuckle waiting for the other guy to get back up and superplex him.
By doing that, it gives away what was going to happen, and makes a match look overly scripted, and dare I say, fake. Like, when an actor in a play flubs a line, or a musician hits the wrong note, they don't stop the play or song to get the line or note right. They just move on and keep going. More wrestlers need to learn how to do that, IMO.
Great point! These things are really noticeable too. But those guys gotta have their high spots because matches now are just a series of flips and stunts for the sake of doing them and have no rhyme or reason.
It’s like hangman page being a young up and comer saying “I don’t need to take advice”
How is Hangman an up and comer? He's been in the business for more than a decade, has been a top guy at a large promotion for 2-3 years, and is a former world champion. Does a wrestler need a 20 year career to not be considered "new"?
@@joelm7991 hes 31, and nobody but die hard fans knew who he was before 2019
Phil sounds like such a butthurt old man complaining that someone isn’t interested in his take on things. Get over it. Not everyone wants your advice. Bucks and Hangman clearly doing fine without taking advice.
I also find Russo a bit hypocritical when he’s saying Bucks act like know it alls yet he’s telling wrestlers what’s what when he ain’t a wrestler. Cuz let be real, Russo predicted wrong. Bucks made millions.
Now will they be remembered?? Probably longer than fekkin Chief Strong Bow.
@@joelm7991 You asked how he's an up and comer and after ten years but his only accomplishments were from the past few months.

You're just factually wrong here, unless you mistyped and meant something else.
Russo is completly right about the bucks just doing high spots! Damn Jim Cornette will probly agree with him for the first time ever.
Corny would die first!
He will disagree and get angry on 1st part but will agree on 2nd part
He is right. And I rarely watch wrestling as it exists today.
This is exactly what is happening. People substitute personality, character, and the ability to tell a story with move sets. They string together a trampoline routine of 10 moves, obviously cooperate, sell nothing, and tell everyone it's all an act. If they can stay in charscter more, and give the illusion of real beefs, and not be gaming and vlogging with their supposed enemies, ppl will gravitate towards it again. Give the illusion of conflict, of competition, leave out the nonsense, and watch the people come back.
Can you please start a promotion?! You get it.
MJF is trying his damnedest to do this, but I'm afraid it's a useless fight.
I don’t get how these guys can game and Vlog with each other on the same night they were beating each other up in the ring. It exposes kayfabe!!!
@@ladistar Exactly. I've even seen some of them send out tweets that say things like "Don't worry, nobody got hurt, it's not real!" or "Don't worry, we don't really hate each other!" Hate to say it, but Vince is 1000% right. These matches feel so scripted and spot-heavy that they're almost unwatchable. It's very much "now we do this, now we do this, then we do this", and it's really noticeable. Doesn't seem like a real "fight", it's just watching guys do flips for the sake of doing flips. This gets exacerbated exponentially the more wrestlers you add to the match.
Problem that Russo, Cornette and many here don’t understand is that The Young Bucks are giving their favs what we want.
He says that they have no character but their entire gimmick is character driven. Their matches are based around their character.
Their characters are literally to piss off older guys like him and Cornette off.
If Russo says they go too much flippy shit then the next match the Young Bucks will do the most outrageous flippy shit ever

Theres a reason rock vs Hogan is such a beloved match. They had the crowd in the palms of their hands because of how they told the story.. they barley left their feet and was no high spots maybe a couple of little sequences but they just told a story using the crowd making every move count and mean something. Yes it wasn't the best straight up wrestling match but it didn't need to be. It was a perfect story told in a ring between two ledgends. They made even a wrist lock mean something made it entertaining. They improvised on the spot to the audience and made history because of it. I cant think of a better example of two guys using the energy of the crowd to tell a story.
Russo and Jim tell same about Young Bucks, they memorises moves and lack of ring psychology.
How come Vince gets all the hate and never Ed Ferrara? They worked together.

100% true. Pro wrestling has never looked better but it's also never been more boring.

In that regard you do win belts in wrestling, its just not through a shoot fight.
Meltzer isn’t going to get them a mania main event . It won’t matter nobody cares unless you do in WWE let alone mania . They have destroyed selling and emotion in wrestling and they are both the Jannetty of their own tag team .

You also can't expect guys to know how to "call it in the ring" when all the shows now have writers, not bookers (which, as a writer, he should be well aware of) that expect everything they write to be followed to the letter. Guys nowadays are specifically told not to improvise, so they don't. Also there's fewer and fewer legit trainers that could teach any psychology, and most of the audience doesn't care to begin with, they just wanna see people do things like what's in the newest video game. Of course, this part isn't Russo's fault, but the fact is he hotshotted all he could and basically did anything just to try to get a rating week to week. That isn't psychology either, bro.
Silly Cornette parrot, try to disguise yourself better next time.
@@goodday2760 Nah bro, that came from another Russo shoot where Russo himself says he left the in-ring stuff to the talent. IDK, Russo was most comfortable booking short matches and backstage skits and soap opera stuff. It's really obvious from just watching what Russo does when he is given carte blanche - like in WCW and TNA. The ratings stuff also comes from Russo himself.
And plenty of newer WWE talent have pretty much said they weren't allowed to improvise what was in the script.
And as for being a parrot, I parrot everyone, bro. I've never been in the business, and I watch a lot of shoots, like 99% of the people here. We all pretty much get our info from the same places, I'm just trying to be objective is all.
@@toiletsinjapan9933 I was referring to the end of your post. People always use that same word "hotshotting" to attack either Russo, the Attitude Era, or all wrestling from the late 90s, and it's no different than any meaningless slogan used at political rallies. It's obvious that taken to the extreme, accusing things of hotshotting would stifle and choke wrestling, leaving Cornette and others who use that word wide open to the observation that if they had it their way wrestling would have disappeared in the 80s for not adapting rather than explode like it did.
Also, you talk about the crowds just wanting to see the moves from the video games. Cornette is the only one I've seen who, despite knowing they use real motion-sense action to replicate the moves in the animations, believes that just because the wrestling games are video games they must have comic book fighting with superhero moves. He also leaves himself open to the observation there that while he attacks video games for this he actually collects comic books. It makes me think, that when you say 99% of us are relying on the same sources, Cornette acts and talks like a know-nothing online smark when he actually worked with Vince McMahon and has a bunch of experience. He's parroting people from comments sections like this one. Because he has an obsession, no, a suspicious fixation on the machismo and bullying of oily bodybuilders like Vince has had with their bodies. So because he heard talk of video games being nerdy and Japanese, and is likely too out of touch to realize how popular they are, he's going to say not that wrestlers shouldn't play video games but that video games themselves are the problem. And I've seen others do the same.
Russo said this his last wrestling interview fast forward to today he has done hundreds of them and has a wrestling podcast lmao
In these chats Sean isn't usually sitting so physically close to a guest or allowing them to touch him so much. Sean is even turned directly to face Vince, practically on his lap. It's nice tbh, but unusual for this format. Does talking to Vince invite sitting two inches away from him?
