- There are several different types of elements in super mario maker 2. Whether those be enemies, power-ups, blocks or whatever else, however one of the most important types of elements in super mario maker 2 are containers. These are elements that are able to hold and dispense out a different item. There are 15 of them in the game with each having their own special properties. Some containers though are better than others so today I’m going to be ranking all 15 containers in super mario maker 2 by placing them into a tier list.

I learned from RubberRoss that for his super world in the final fight, he was having trouble with the boss music cutting out from bowser being off screen, so he used a cloud and a lava bubble and attached the music to that instead of bowser. I think this is a unique technique to have certain tracks play in specific areas.
I should do that sometime...

Magikoopas could've been an interesting "container", going off the definition from the video. Imagine if you could add up to four items/enemies inside them, and those 4 things are the _only_ items his magic can conjure.
Mario Maker Philosophy question - Does a Magikooper who eats the goal flag contain the goal flag until you kill it?
@@Stephen-Foxi'd say that no, a magiroosta does not eat the goal pole nor does it contain it as 1. the magibooster does not eat it, the magic hits it and it simply dissapears and 2. the goal pole doesn't appear where the magigoomba was killed.

I have actually been thinking what moves Dry Bones would have on smash. and I figured out His Side B right away, His side B would be the bone throw from Mario world
That sounds more like a neutral B.

His shield could be a reference to the invulnerability mechanic he normally has when jumped on. As a game balance factor, they could even make it so Dry Bones goes into this state when jumped on or footstooled.
I’ve had a lot of fun watching your videos as of late. I haven’t played Mario that much lately outside of my usual Mario Kart craze, and these kinds of videos help me to appreciate them a lot more like I used to. 😊

I don’t think it’s fair to rate hidden blocks by their reputation in levels, given this is a tier list based on ability to contain things.
Kinda shocked you didn’t do this yet, but ranking every enemy in Super Mario Maker 2. There is a lot to go with so idk if it can be done in a week, but I still really like your content.
I have actually seen a really cool troll level that uses the checkpoint power up gimmick to allow the player to get the goal through a wall with a big mushroom after they get CP1ed. It wasn’t really the main thing in the level, but the creator was able to control where the player got the power up, and it definitely could be used for things like this in puzzle levels or something
you could also just give the item before.
Actually that wouldn’t work because you needed to get beeg in the wall and whether you get beeg in the wall depends on whether you had a mushroom or not to touch the checkpoint sooner

Also I made a level called Mario and Friends Deliver Pizza where you have to deliver a crate and avoid a morbillion amount of traps and enemies
you forgot that pipes help little timmys make fire ball spam levels
Small correction for the hidden block, shells or spikeballs can hit them from below which allows for some really neat concepts
Invisible blocks can spawn without the help of the player if a shell jumps up into them with a spring or note block.
Spike balls can also trigger them
Cool list, maybe a ranking every level theme remake could be cool
That was an interesting video. I personally would've put Lakitu Clouds a bit higher, since they can function as obstacles that span the entire course and are always onscreen, which I think is pretty useful. Also, I was just going to say that you forgot the 3DW tree, until I saw the pinned comment lol. I suppose I can't really blame you though, since 3DW proves to be rather forgetable somtimes.

Vine can be spawn indefinitely from blocks if you reset the room, which is use in many good levels

maybe you could just do a ranking(tier list most likely) on every main line mario game? i already know what some of your rankings would be(IM LOOKING AT YOU MARIO BROS 3 and odyssey but yeah that games incredible anyway)but for others, i would be interested to see that!

Hey maybe rank every enemy that appears in a mainline game. I know it's a bit ask but I think it would be quite interesting!
I'd argue that the brick block and ? block has a key difference in their utility (though not necessarily usefulness) as containers - ? blocks players _know_ there's something inside, even if it might be a coin. brick blocks might have an item inside (even if just a coin) or might be destructible by Big Mario and the only way for the player to find out is to hit the block.
Invisible blocks - Useful in some types of puzzle levels (and for bonus 1-ups in traditional levels. When I use them it's almost always for that, even if I'm placing them somewhere I _know_ Nintendo would put a progressive fire flower in their levels because it's right before a boss door at that very specific height, adjacent to the same wall, that Nintendo puts hidden power ups just before boss battles in 2d Mario - I think I've also occasionally used them as a short ladder to a big coin if I just stick coins in them).
You should make a tier list of all of your tier lists.

One thing, the hidden block can be hit my shells from below so not just Mario

Fun fact: any block containing a vine will allow you to hit it again upon using a pipe or door

Bricks will be broken by the big mushroom if Mario Jumps on them, and link’s bombs, without dropping the item. The mega mushroom won’t work for ? Blocks tho

I would rather like an actual ranking and go on like that from worst to best, than having a tierlist. With 15 items, it's ok, but it can get complicated very quickly.

Not gonna lie if you want to know how to use hidden blocks well just use the Original Super Mario Brothers as an example it uses them perfectly (with a few exceptions).

I'm mad you didn't include the rotating blocks from Super Mario World as a separate item from the bricks, because I tried to guess what the 15 containers would be before watching the video. Tracks as a container? I'll let it slide.
I'm the one who gave Tracks that category on the SMM2 wiki. They fit the strict definition of what a Container was.
