    With the usage of so many different lithium-based batteries in car audio, many times you're needing to up the voltage to charge those lithium batteries CORRECTLY.
    While some lithium batteries do not require higher voltage charging, some do and it's imperative that you charge your high dollar investment appropriately to get the most power from that purchase.
    As always, please consult your battery manufacturer and/or builder to establish the charging goals you need to achieve.
    While these are labeled as "lithium" harness, they can also be used for 14-volt batteries that will require a 16-16.5-volt charge rate.

    My 370amp unit which I installed on my 2012 Silverado 3:59 6.6 Duramax, has the opposite problem.
    It's been overcharging for about one to two minutes each time I would restart it once it's warm. The voltage would climb into the 16 and even 17 volt area for brief periods , before settling back to around 14.v
    It did this for 12 months and I only fitted it in late 2020.
    I've removed it and replaced with a standard alternator.
    Is there a replacement regulator that I can purchase and self fit?
    I'm in Australia so it's not practical to return it to you.

      @mechmanalternators  Před rokem

      Well....yes...and no. :) You can convert the 2pin style GM alternators(regulators) over to the 4pin design they've used for years and THEN you can use these quick fix boosters.
      All GM Full Size truck/SUV applications we have that are OVER 300 amps we go ahead and convert/bypass the computer controlled regulation to give those customers the most voltage possible. I have some video's on that as well.

    hello good day, i have a aftermarket alternator on my GM vehicle that has it's voltage set to 14.8 static internally, i want to boost it to 15.2,
    it has the same 4 pin connector as on the video, but i only have the blue wire hooked up to switched 12v,
    i want to boost the voltage by 0.3-0.4 volt, as 0.5 volt is too much for the vehicle,

    Is there any way to set a specific voltage level regardless of the alt temperature? Say i want 16v to charge a C max. I don't want it to ever charge higher or lower than 16v. Would I need some type of computer based regulator to maintain an exact output?

      A 16 volt battery realistically needs to charge in the 19 or so volt range. At that point you just need to go external regulator.

    • @mechmanalternators
      @mechmanalternators  Před rokem

      I don't mention it as that is what the FAQ and product descriptions on www.mechman.com are for. However, 99% of our available part numbers are true hairpin 6 phase units. We have 3 units that are entry level GM style that use upgraded internals with an overdrive pulley but still follow the 3-phase foundation.
      They will make around the same output at top end as a hairpin 250 amp but will be down appx. 30-30 amps at vehicle idle RPM's. Great for the daily driver guys with around 2500w audio setups.
