What is your favorite moment from the 2021 Masters Agility Championship?
when the dogs are done and they get their treats and toys!!!!! i would love the weaving pols to be front camera instead of side, so we can see the dog's concentrate when they weave. WEAVING IS ALSO AWESOME!!!!!
When the dog jumps into its handler's arms after the race, which the Border Collies tend to do most of the time :)
@@pdegan2814 It’s usually a trained behavior so it’s not necessarily Border Collie specific thing. A lot of different dogs of different breeds are taught this.
Heck, I personally know someone who competes with an Aussie that would tackle her at the end of their run so she taught it to jump into her arms, instead. The dog is heavy, but way better than being tackled and the dog gets put on the floor pretty quick anyway.
@@emberN And the weave poles are, in my opinion, the hardest obstacle and the obstacle that is the highest impact on a dog!
It’s almost always seeing Pixel. I do agility with my Mini American Shepherd, too, so I love watching dogs of his breed compete!
My mind is still preoccupied with Lobo, the husky! 😆🐶💛

I see Verb a lot in the videos I'm binge watching about these agility contests. Is s/he famous in this field? S/He looks like he's born to do this.
Border Collies tend to do really good in agility contests, so good that in some contests they even get their own category to make it fairer for the other breeds. It's because they're bred to herd large herds over vast areas of rugged terrain and long distances, essentially running cross country marathons every day their whole lives, so these agility competitions are pretty much the kind of stuff they're born to do. Verb in particular has been quite successful and has experience in these shows

I think it's a thing now for a Border Collie to jump to the handler's arms
It’s just a trained behavior that’s done by handlers of many different breeds. It’s not actually most Border Collies that even do it.

@@atrudokht lol I compete in this sport. It’s a trained behavior not exclusive to Border Collies. In fact, most handlers won’t have them do it and it’s not commonly cued in class. I see far more smaller dogs being taught and cued to do it.
I encourage you to go to a local trial and let me know how many dogs you see doing it (and how many Border Collies vs other breeds). 🧐

It looks like they're separated based on their heights. And then the jump heights are adjusted for each category of dog heights.

I did a search for cats but I did not find anything do they also have this for cats
@@imabegood cats sadly tend to be harder to train! you could if you had a cooperative one but overall it depends on temperament. its a shame tho i would love to watch these for cats 😅

This time map design is more friendly to handler than before, handlers are walking in small circle. No need to run very fast as before.

2021 Crufts agility had a beautiful line up!! Each of these dogs were in A Top Class!! This was by far a very competitive competition!! They were all winners❤
So basically the competitions are pretty much seeing which one is going to come in second to the border collie. :P
No dog will ever knock Kratu from Crufts out of my mind.

Something a lot of people not in the sport don’t know of is that for the more advanced competitions we have (AKC Agility Nationals and AKC Agility Invitational.. Westminster is just a “showy” competition), the rules on mistakes are a tad more flexible.
At your usual weekend trials, at the Master level, you can’t make ANY mistakes to qualify on a run.
Everyone has to start somewhere!

My dog, RIP, a mix of havaneser and spitz was also extremely energetic and would've loved to do this, without any drugs. Some dogs were just born for this.

Yes, you probably can! Almost any dog can do agility! Westminster Kennel Club agility is just a “showy” event. It’s not our most prestigious competition in the least. 🙂

They actually do at cat shows, they use a toy on a long handle to lead the cats over the obstacles. The course is much shorter and they have it in an enclosure so if a cat decides to wander off it can't go too far.
