    The usefulness of planes cannot be understated. They are absolute kings of recon. If you combine them with ELINT and SIGINT, you can easily locate enemy transports and strive groups well before they have any idea where your forces are. The entire time, you’re saving fuel; keeping out of cities while holding-onto autonomy as much as possible is a real chore when you depend on proper ships for scouting.
    I made my own carrier flagship, and on my next run I’ll bring a smaller one like the longbow.

    Out of the 2 planes, take the T-7 every single time except for recon purposes.
    Reasons?
    1. T-7 is much faster in combat and in the map, meaning faster ToT (Time on Target), less exposure to AAA and SHORAD fire, less response time for enemies to take off in case of a sudden strike, and ability to outrun CAP screens.
    2. T-7 can carry AAMs, useful for your own CAP screen. Doubly so to intercept Kh-15s.
    3. T-7 can soak up way more damage than the La-27, most importantly the T-7 can usually survive an AAM or R-9 Sprint hit (!!!), or a short CIWS burst, something the La-27 would just disintegrate when shot by.
    Yes, you do have to shell out the extra 500 credits to buy them but they'll have a much longer life expectancy compared to the La-27 saving you money in the long run from constantly replacing them. There's almost no reason for the La-27 except for maybe baiting out shots acting as a meatshield or if you don't have T-7s. The other thing you have to watch out for is that if you equip 100kg GPBs or small rockets on the T-7, they will do a second pass, which is a +/- since this can let you spread your damage more but also exposes it to more fire. The other downside is you can fit less on your carrier deck, since T-7s are bigger...but this doesn't matter when you consider they have double the payload capacity anyway, it's cheaper to buy 4-5 T-7s that lasts 5 runs, compared to buying 8 La-27s that only last 2 runs.
    The only thing the La-27 is better at is for recon & loitering, since they have the same range but the La-27 fly slower, it has a longer time on station.

      actually a la27 is better investment of countering nukes...
      Also i love having like 10 la27 to scout every inch of terrain for me before i come in with t7 bomb rush just to finish them with my only one ''heavy frigate'' that is actually a dreadnought with 3 layers of armor and like 15-20 37mm ( that just melt anything down )

    Here is another excellent tip:
    If you are landed in a town and have for example 4 carrier spots in your fleet but 20 planes in your inventory, you can first send out 4 planes, go into repair in town and press to repair the ship, the new planes are immediately ready to be sent. This way you can send every single plane in your inventory without delay even if you only have a few installed. I'm still only like 35% on normal difficulty, but I'd be surprised if there is a strike group that can handle my 30+ planes.
    Another thing I do is to always send the planes 1 at the time so ammo is conserved as much as possible. If 4 planes bomb one target when only 2-3 bombs are required you waste ammo, but if they engage in battle alone one after another, they will not waste ammo. This takes more time but I find it more efficient.
    So far it seems to me that missiles are better at tanking damage than planes are, so I sometimes send in missiles first against a strike group to deplete some AA missiles so less planes get shot down.

    • @caracal3892
      @caracal3892  Před 2 lety +6

      I think this is a good idea, however on hard, later in the game, spending 2500 on a missile is a very hard choice to make. And I think the AA fire (missiles and guns) is a bit more accurate on hard, so I tend to shoot 2-3 missiles so the 2nd or 3rd gets through. As for planes, I think it is a good idea to send in a missile first to distract the AA missiles. However late in the game the option is often not there because of money.

    Negative with planes is that your silent strike is negated for 12 hours. Making any attack on a city trigger a sighting flag which every strike group makes a beeline for. I would only use planes when u are prepared to meet strike groups soon after.

  • @Bruh-d
    @Bruh-d Před 2 lety +3

    Planes from what I recall can join attacks and use the 37MM To attack enemy Vessels. Really fun when you are messing around with a high amount of carriers. But I wouldn't reccomend using the 37MM Except against things like Lightings since they don't have armour and the guns have a higher hit chance. Altough expect a way higher casualty rate if you use the guns against them.

    • @henryhamilton4087
      @henryhamilton4087 Před 2 lety

      Can only intercept Kh-15s, also use the T-7 with AAMs. the 37mm cannon has a very slim chance of hitting the missile. It'll take ~4 AAM hits to a missile to kill it, although damaging it would mean that your fleet SHORAD has an easier time shooting it down.
      Theoretically A-100s could be intercepted however with only 400km range and ~4250 kph speed, the reaction time would have to be incredibly fast, and it's better to just hit the fleet carrying it first because fighters have 2000km combat range.
      R-3s are ballistic missiles, can't be intercepted by aircraft.
