Got a fake one in Turkey for about 100€, no one could tell it’s fake unless they look at it under a magnifier with an original one side by side… it won’t a last as long as the original of course but it keeps time well and looks slick.
I feel like the weight is the easiest giveaway If you're in the market for a real precious metal watch, you'll clearly recognize the difference in weight/heft a fake will outright not have.
This one was easy. On the fake the etched crown is too bold, the date number is not well centered and some of the letters engraved outside the dial don't line up with the minute markings on the dial. Also the cyclops window shows color in its anti-reflective treatment.
It’s very hard to replicate this watch as just by the weight alone, the fake will give it away; second; gold plated watches will eventually fade away exposing metal.

Not wrong at all. A solid gold watch weighs almost double the weight of stainless so it’s very easy to tell.
Also the color is WAY off when comparing a real gold Rolex to a plated replica. One reason is because Rolex uses its own foundries, and their color of gold is patented and not able to be faked by playing it.
Also gold plating will 1000% rub off over time no matter how quality the playing job was. Playing is only on the surface, a couple of scratches here and there show the true metal beneath it within a matter of weeks/months with normal daily wear.
You can’t make a quality fake of a solid gold watch without making it out of solid gold.
If you want a semi-passible replica to the untrained eye then get a stainless model. You won’t fool many people that know watches but you’ll fool the masses with a stainless model. Gold playing doesn’t have the same luster by any sense of the word as shown in this video

Great tips. I only buy from official Rolex dealer. Too risky to spend a lot of money and not know for sure. Even if all looks well there can be unknowns such as Frankenstein parts that are not obvious to us mere mortals .

Just to proove that the fake one is not good it doesn't mean you do different types of lighting around both. It's clearly visible you had put the real one under main key light so everything thing is visible quite good. But for the fake one poor lighting and weak camera angles are clearly visible
The „alu750“ stamp is not a reliable test. Real ones have the 750 only stamp too

I would say your fake is a bad one. It looks YG-ish and not RG. Buy from a reputable TD and it is virtually identical. They also come in Tungsten Version now, which is heavier than SS, however, the weight of the replica is still around 40g lighter than gen.
Another telltale is the Anti-Reflecting coating on the cyclops, the fake is blue-ish. Nice video!
