Part 3 of our look at the official film of the Calgary 1988 Winter Olympic Games we focus on the Ski Jumping events, specifically the efforts of Finland's Matti Nykänen as he attempts to reputation, built from the 1984 Sarajevo Games.

1980s the good times, Matti Nykänen was the hero. Greetings from an 80's child of Finland
Wish i was alive then. I live so close to the SKI JUMPS and watching this made me emotional. It wouldve been great to see it. Calgary has changed so much since then.

I lived there for 3 years back in 2004 loved it, amazing people and was always amazed driving past just wish I could ski

In Finland The POST Mail Service came out a Mailing STAMP - 3 million - so That Everybody Could have His STAMP ! People were in lines to get one or some even several at Post Offices ! Finland wasnt The Only Country - but North Korea & Paraguay has a Stamp to MATTI NYKANEN ! Two Mattis made History ! Three Movies made of these Games called Matti & Eddied Edwards & Jamaica Bob Sledge Team !
Calgary had the most insane Chinook that year. It was extremely windy for the ski racers also
If anyone has ever had "sisu", then it was Matti.

Yes but The TV-transmission was a disaster😶!
Lack of pure telemark.
Matti had perfect telemark landing, but in his best years... compared to other jumpers, he jumped way too far. Telemark was too risky, he had to 'cheat' a bit for his own safety. Many times he also took his jumps down too early, because he would've flown dangerously far down the slope.
