Growing up I always thought that brushing your teeth a little harder meant effectively removing plaque and germs from your teeth, I also get dried mouth pretty fast, so I have to always be drinking water, and because I'm not talkative I end up not realizing when I'm dehydrated, I only end up realizing when I'm talking to someone.
This was SOO informative and helpful. I just noticed this about my teeth 5 minutes ago and this video was the first thing I found in my research. Now I'm about to look at my teeth again to see where I fall on this spectrum. For years I've been doing literally everything she suggested not to do. I think I have the translucence along the biting edge and side perimeters of my front teeth.
i used to have an eating disorder and im on my way trying to recover! knowing that my old ed couldve caused my teeth to be a bit translucent really motivated me to fully recover in a more healthy way thank you!!

Thank you so much for this video, I am at ease a bit more now thanks to your advice. I have quite bad enamel due to bad self neglect during my teen years, in my early twenties now and paying for it now, trying to stop it getting worse now and to get over my dental phobia.
Ya, I am in my early twenties. I guess even sugar free Gatorade is not good, teeth wise. I have had clear bottom parts and yellowish teeth as far as I can remember. Just like the thumbnail.
I always learn so much! I had very slight translucent edges on my front teeth. I think the dentist used bonding but at the back??? so now you can’t tell :)
They are actually the strongest prt of your entire body. When you dont take of them, they decay...i neglected my teeth my entire teen years and im kinda lucky they are healthy now, do have a bit of translucency but im not sure if its natural or not. I’ll see my dentist his opinions soon

I have an eating disorder. Didn't know that can be part of the reason. I also have a sweet tooth. And stress eat. I've been good with slowly getting out of the habit of reaching for a sugary treat thats processed. Now if im craving sugary treats I go for something healthier like an apple or oatmeal
I never thought that my two front teeth had this, thankfully I'm getting my teeth cleaned here soon so I'll see what they can do to help with this minor problem of mine
I got fillings in the sides of my front teeth and now I feel it's too obvious. You can see on my front teeth the line of where the tooth was cleaned and filled... If it's not dangerous I don't mind, but I became paranoid over my teeth.
I say if you have translucent teeth and don't like it, get over it. (Just be glad they aren't cavities or decay) Getting veneers is not a good solution just for that. You will literally have to damage and file the teeth in order to get them. Not worth it. Expecially if you're young as veneers don't last forever and can cost a lot to replace after 10 years.
I eat very healthy and don’t eat any sweets or drink soda. I noticed the edges of my tooth are slightly translucent, I thought it was enamel erosion. Guess not.
!!! ACID WARNING !!! - My Denist said I must have 'Acid Reflux' due to the enamel erosion. I told him I had never had any signs of reflux. I found out later that most Mouth-washes are very acidic. Then one night, the bell rang! Each night I soaked my Night-Guard tooth protector in Listerine. I did this for many years thinking I was helping my teeth, plus it tasted good and clean (too clean apparently). I now brush with dry 'Arm & Hammer' powder and then Sensodyne.
Isn't putting on and off my night guard (which grazes my teeth every time I do so) eroding the enamel of the bottom of my front teeth the same way it can happen if I brush too hard?
I literally haven’t do none of these things, and my teeth are progressively getting more and more and more translucent and I literally don’t do any of these things that causes it. I went to a dentist when I was 19 because I knew something was wrong and he said that it was normal for them to be clear like that under the bottom. But then, as time went on, they became more and more and more, and literally my teeth are exactly halfway clear in the front on the bottom. it’s not normal and my freaking dentist freaking listen. So now I’m trying to figure out why it’s happening and literally none of the stuff that you mentioned is happening to me or do I do. My diet isn’t filled with sugary drinks. I don’t brush too hard I don’t have bulimia, I literally never have heartburn, I don’t drink acidic sugary drinks… like something is happening and no one seems to be able to tell me what the heck it is and how to fix it. There any other options that could be from? I’m telling you they’re getting progressively worse very badly very quickly. I’m 31 years old and my teeth are halfway clear on the front

My teeth are no quite white.. but what I learned through her and my dentist over years was. Smoking , drinking cokes.. not flossing was a terrible habbit.. But more importantly is.. some peoples enamel is stronger than others, it last longer.. and because I hadn’t taken preventative care my enamel either faded away or was just not as strong.. probably both.
I can only see it getting more translucent if we’re strictly talking about the incisal edge where enamel is not underlined by dentine. Other areas wouldn’t get more translucent. There might be an issue with some deep bite patients/Bruxism combined with low ph diet where dentine and enamel on the palatal/lingual side gets eroded and the only thing remaining is a thing layer of unsupported enamel. This is a non-issue if you have regular checkups or even not so regular ones.

For fluoride toothpaste, does it matter if the toothpaste has the approval label on it? In my case the CDA (Canadian Dental Association), as it shows that the toothpaste passed their tests for whatever thing its claiming to help. Or as long as it has fluoride I'm good to go? 😊
I'm from america so I guess take from this what you will but in order for toothpastes to be approved by the ADA, they need to have fluoride in it. If it does not contain fluoride, then it probably does not have ADA or CDA approval. I would assume its the same in Canada. Anyway, fluoride is super important to have in toothpaste so its good that you're choosing one with fluoride in it! Honestly, the type of toothpaste you use simply depends on your individual needs/wants (example: whitening, cavity prevention, tartar control, etc). As long as it does not have any dangerous ingredients in it you're probably on the right track! Hope this helps! (i'm a dental hygiene student & trying to share some of the stuff I've learned)
@@brookeestelle1890 that's great thank you! The toothpaste I currently have is colgate sensitive repair and prevent, which has the CDA approval on it but when I look at the ingredients I don't see the word fluoride. Are there different names for it?
@@kylaboutin7638 Ok I just looked it up & it says that the 2 active ingredients are potassium nitrate (which helps with sensitivity) & sodium fluoride (which also helps with sensitivity & cavity protection). Typically toothpastes will use 2 different types of fluoride: stannous fluoride & sodium fluoride. You just have to look for one of the 2! This one may not have listed it clearly because typically potassium nitrate is the ingredient used in desensitizing toothpastes.
I have this, I stress eat sweets/acidic things. Did this for YEARS ON YEARS. So... now um... trying to save myself :/ My teeth are see thru at the bottom, and at the top are degrading in. Terrified, absolutely terrified. & on top of that my mom refuses to let me see a dentist, or doctors in general
I dont know if you checked twitter recently but I've had these little white sqaure things I think its plaque under my 3 front teeth for 3 years now and I'm going to see a dentist for the first time in 17 years tomorrow. Do you think some of my teeth will be lost? I've been stressing for so long
I think it is, but I'm a dental hygiene student & my professors taught us that flossing (or in your case using a rubber gum stimulator) should be done BEFORE brushing. That way you dislodge any food particles/bacteria & then you brush it away. Makes total sense when you hear it that way but I always used to floss after brushing.
I have translucency on my two front teeth exactly where I was forced to wear braces for 6 years straight. So two bands of translucency on front teeth. How to fix these? I try not to smile too much.
I hate the fact my teeth turned white and then they snapped in half. I thought wow my teeth are finally turning white and now I have freaking holes in my teeth.
My bottom row of teeth (the only teeth that are currently permanent are the front 2 as long as the ones right next to them pretty sure they're called incisors?) But the base (the area closer to the gums) are yellow and the tip (very top) of them are translucent I don't really brush them often, is this normal?

Yes! I’ve been using whitening toothpaste and my teeth are translucent, my dentist just told those whitening toothpaste erode enamel. Apparently there’s small text on the box to say not to use regularly and to take breaks in between …
If it wasn't unhealthy I'd want my teeth to be MORE translucent. Like a cool transparent yellowish thing. Maybe that's just me. I think unchipped seethrough teeth look neat.
I hardly ever have any sugary foods nor drinks. Not even as a kid. My diet is very healthy, I don´t suffer any heartburn or have any other health issues. I practice good oral hygiene, yet my teeth are translucent. You forgot to mention "healthy" options such as fresh orange juice (a staple of mine until about 10 years ago) and lemon water are very acidic and damage the enamel. I didn´t know how bad these drinks are for your teeth. I would like it if dentists and oral hygiene professionals talked more about how all carbohydrates, not only sugar loaden foods are feeding the streptococcus bacteria in your mouth eroding your teeth. Rinsing your mouth with mineral water and Xylitol to starve the streptococcus bacteria that cause plaque, should be recommended by all of these professionals. Stating the obvious damage that soft drinks and candy to to your teeth is not really helping us.
I have been brushing my teeth a lot recently bc I got my retainer and have to brush everytime I eat and I eat a lot so I have been brushing my teeth excessively this made me realize I should prob stop brushing my teeth so hard
That transculent part is very weak part of your teeth take care of that ,today I accidentally eat a small stone while having dinner and i broke one of my favourite enamel 😢
So Ive used sensodyne for over 10 years, extra soft to soft tooth brush for years, only drink clear zero sugar soda, low sugar diets, don't smoke, don't have dry mouth, etc. My top and bottom severe translucence, more translucent than any example. Basically a hallow of translucence with a internal cap over the nerve. To boot, I'm under 30 and because I had three family members that were dentists I rarely got an ouside opinion. Does it look like I'm getting crowns in my future?
I don't know, I drink diet coke, zero sugar and my teeth react to it still. Just a bit of aching. I guess maybe I have to brush gently? Like as people describe it for me it's extremely gently...
I gave up brushing my teeth regularly but as I said it must also be caused by brushing too hard. The pandemic has really got me addicted to these drinks. 🙄

This one may not have listed it clearly because typically potassium nitrate is the ingredient used in desensitizing toothpastes.
@@brookeestelle1890 Awesome thank you so much! Looks like I'm good to go 😊
Stay away from fluoride. I’m planning to try eggshells. There are studies on its effects. I believe fluoride is a scam and is toxic,
Mine are see through on the front teeth a little. Was told it was genetics
my teeth always hurt from this they hurt as im writing this comment ive had this for 2 years or more and ive basically forgotten about it.
My teeth were not like this before but they are getting transparent coloured and losing their whiteness.....I don't understand what is it...?
I have this, I stress eat sweets/acidic things. Did this for YEARS ON YEARS. So... now um... trying to save myself :/
My teeth are see thru at the bottom, and at the top are degrading in. Terrified, absolutely terrified. & on top of that my mom refuses to let me see a dentist, or doctors in general
Wtf she doesnt let you see dentists? Why wouldnt she? Thats abuse.
I dont know if you checked twitter recently but I've had these little white sqaure things I think its plaque under my 3 front teeth for 3 years now and I'm going to see a dentist for the first time in 17 years tomorrow. Do you think some of my teeth will be lost? I've been stressing for so long
Might be fluorosis or areas of demineralization, either of those shouldn't cause too much concern
I got white spots on my teeth from fluoride, is there anything I can do about it?
Is it safe to use a rubber gum stimulator to help dislodge plaque along the gum line that brushing leaves behind?
I think it is, but I'm a dental hygiene student & my professors taught us that flossing (or in your case using a rubber gum stimulator) should be done BEFORE brushing. That way you dislodge any food particles/bacteria & then you brush it away. Makes total sense when you hear it that way but I always used to floss after brushing.
I floss, then brush, then use the gum stimulator along the gumline :)
@@brookeestelle1890 my dentist told me to brush first and then floss
What if your whole tooth is translucent?
I have it. I was told it was due to acne meds I took in my youth.
I have translucency on my two front teeth exactly where I was forced to wear braces for 6 years straight. So two bands of translucency on front teeth. How to fix these? I try not to smile too much.
I'm not sure if i have them. They still have a "milky" sheen but you can also see the dentin underneath, but it's also just right at the edges 😅
If you have tooth sensitivity and aches
Good Tuesday afternoon to you all from Wellington Somerset in the UK
Hi, it's 10:50 PM, commenting from India 🇮🇳
Good morning from Bellingham, WA, USA!
LOVE THESE MESSAGES SO MUCH :) hello from Chicago, IL, USA :)
@@TeethTalk You look so cute....
I hate the fact my teeth turned white and then they snapped in half. I thought wow my teeth are finally turning white and now I have freaking holes in my teeth.
I always brush my teeth as hard as I can to remove plaque to the point that I would snap my brush now I know why my teeth are translucent.
My question is where can I find some REAL soft toothbrush....
My bottom row of teeth (the only teeth that are currently permanent are the front 2 as long as the ones right next to them pretty sure they're called incisors?) But the base (the area closer to the gums) are yellow and the tip (very top) of them are translucent I don't really brush them often, is this normal?
All i drink is ginger tea a lot of water i dont eat candy i eat a lot of vegetables and protein i have tried coconut oil for my teeth and i have tried so many enamle repair toothpastes and i floss before i brush my teeth
Will the blue or clear ever go away?
My teeth are translucent and it hurts to bite down on anything sweet, hard, cold. I’m so scared and google isn’t helping
Same, I was eating a ham sandwich yesterday and my front teeth ached a little from the contact. That's cold ham and I don't even like processed meat.
So the ham wasn't really processed but probably a little bit
I had this when I was younger at the bottom of my top two middle teeth and the dentist applied something to it that built up the edges
Do you remember what is was? Tooth mousse maybe? Also, did it taste like milk?
I'm new here, I'm from Philippines using mouthwash is good for tooth filling? Waiting for your response 😊
So you're telling me... not everyone's teeth look like that? 😅
How come there are such veneers?
when the edge of front teeth are see through it's called incisal halo
idk what to do. i went to dentist and they told me i have a infection under my root canal pocket 😢 my other stupid dentist didn't clean it out right and i'm so mad. I called for a root canal retreat for number 19 and no one will take me and it cost. i have insurance and i'm exhausted i can't seem to find someone to fix it 😭 i'm gonna sue my other dentist. he ruined my tooth! 😡
It is possible that using whitening toothpaste can mess up enamel? Say, one that's 3% peroxide?
Yes! I’ve been using whitening toothpaste and my teeth are translucent, my dentist just told those whitening toothpaste erode enamel. Apparently there’s small text on the box to say not to use regularly and to take breaks in between …
I just realized my translucent became worst after using a whitening solution - annoyed much
Love that tooth emoji
If it wasn't unhealthy I'd want my teeth to be MORE translucent.
Like a cool transparent yellowish thing.
Maybe that's just me. I think unchipped seethrough teeth look neat.
Wtf nah
You can have mine 🥲
Can toothbonding help?
Wow so interesting! I never even noticed!
right! so subtle! but sometimes more noticeable!

I have been brushing my teeth a lot recently bc I got my retainer and have to brush everytime I eat and I eat a lot so I have been brushing my teeth excessively this made me realize I should prob stop brushing my teeth so hard
Is there any reason to fear in this?
Plzzz reply plzzzzz 🙏
Alright I guess I have to stop eating sugar for a while and stop my acid reflux
Did u solve the issues?
I have trancflucent in my bottom of the teeth...so is it normal
That transculent part is very weak part of your teeth take care of that ,today I accidentally eat a small stone while having dinner and i broke one of my favourite enamel 😢
i know this is a channel about teeth but damn this woman is beautiful
If we supposed to use soft tooth brushes why do they sell medium or hard ones
My theory everything is a business.
Because people like this btch need to make money.
Can I still bleach my teeth even if enamel thin?
Why not coat it in artificial enamel?
What do dentists even know they take a metal hook and start scraping your teeth
here's my video about the safety of professional scalers -- hope this helps: czcams.com/video/j4wX3B0SRGM/video.html
Have you found an answer to your question? I have the same question.
Its so frustrating when our efforts don't pay off 😬
I don't know, I drink diet coke, zero sugar and my teeth react to it still. Just a bit of aching. I guess maybe I have to brush gently? Like as people describe it for me it's extremely gently...
I gave up brushing my teeth regularly but as I said it must also be caused by brushing too hard.
The pandemic has really got me addicted to these drinks. 🙄
Hey i have some doubt how and where can i talk to you?
