    As a rider, there are a couple of minor, but impactful, issues. One is the lack of a barrel adjuster for brakes or gearing. Great if you have time to pull and re-cap cables, but not for on the road or for the casual user without his own shop tools. Also is the termination of the gear cable at the front derailleur. The loose end fits into some kind of plastic cap thingy that is completely useless. it constantly pops loose and defies replacement. Nice bike, but my Madone from 10 years ago had more user-friendly features. And if you really want to benefit from a lighter bike - skip the beers and burgers for a week. Instead of grams you can shed pounds! 2023 SL6 owner.

      Gone are the days of rim brake and external cables! They were so nice and easy to do maintenance. I just wish road bikes can have rim option again, because I don’t ride in rainy weather so I don’t care about the brake performance in wet condition😢

    One thing I find admirable about trek’s domane and emonda is that, even though they’ve succumbed to the bike industry standard of disc brakes and (for the emonda) more aero tubes, they still keep the traditional seat stays, where so many other brands dropped their stays. Bold of them.

    2030 Trek Domane: we removed the iso speed in the rear, made the frame out of ultra comfortable, super reliable steel and installed super lightweight rim brakes on our environmentally conscious lightweight aluminium rims. We've reduced the price to $17k with a lifetime warranty on the frame against cracks and delamination. Total weight 9.2 kg.

    I bought a new Trek Domane SL5 Gen 4. It was great for about 10 miles or so. Then a creaking loud sound started coming from the seat post/Iso speed area. I had purchased the bike on a road trip intending to ride it on my vacation. I returned the bike to the shop and after a couple hours of diagnosing the problem, I was told Trek had a bulletin out regarding this problem. The shop didn't have the part that supposedly would fix the problem. Fortunately for me the shop had a 10 day return policy which I opted for. I had heard other customers complain about issues like this and had to learn for myself. Needless to say I'm done with Trek Iso speed!

    if youre mostly riding on the road, an emonda with 28mm tyres and a few headset spacers will just be as comfortable... emonda is a better bike

    • @Jamesthebikeguy
      @Jamesthebikeguy  Před rokem +7

      It depends if you're at the limit of fit or not. The Emonda is considerably shorter and longer. So the emonda at full height is still a little shorter than the Domane.
      It's also worth noting a lot of people like the more stable handling of an endurance bike, so even if there are technical advantages to a performance bike, not everyone wants that type of handling or ride

      @@joed7185 Just picked up a 2023 Emonda SL6 Pro AXS. My LBS swapped out the 25mm stock tires for 28mm GP5000's on TPU tubes for me to try. It was the perfect balance between smoothness and speed for me. Not as cushy as the Domane but so much more responsive.

    All marketing bs, like about every claim, review, claims, new break through, bla, bla, bla.. not a diss in this particular vid, but when are people just going to admit they just buy what they want, and drop the notion any bike will turn you into something your not. But they want to believe it all because it somehow enhances justification. Much more, significant are words that should be dropped from bike descriptions today..
