Movies That Took Forever to Make

- Some movies get stuck in development or production hell for long periods of time, and a lot of them stay there. But every so often, a movie is lucky enough to reach escape velocity (thanks to a bunch of money) and finally see the silver screen. This video is all about those lucky few.

Now a sequel to this video would be movies that are still in Development Hell.
Lol I did that one first: czcams.com/video/LvHA8UH9wLs/video.html
There’s a parallel universe where Slim Shady is Mad Max, I wonder if they played beats instead of guitar riffs on the big truck in that world haha
That could've been this one if Miller decided to film the movie in the US, which was Eminem's main compunction - he didn't want to be away from home for to long and considering how many delays there were, it was probably wise for someone who also had to balance the music side of his career.
@@Syntopikonpretty sure it’s that Eminem specifically will only do movies filmed in Detroit not just the US
@@yuro5833 They have to be specifically in Detroit? That’s harsh, but I guess the run-down vibe of the city would help instead of hinder a setting like Mad Max.
Im glad I found my niche channel
By far the most interesting cinema content on youtube at the moment. I wanted to wait a few videos before deciding to sub but if these types of well researched videos continue ill be watching them all.
Instead of Furiosa i wish we got a direct sequel to Fury Road.
Yup. Alas, it seems Mad Max might be on ice for a while.
@@Syntopikon
The Road Warrior is still the best Mad Max film.
Your speech and the pace at which you talk is like glass in my ears
Just how it is 😬
@@Syntopikon you should improve the quality of your content if you want to make your stuff better than anyone else's on an ready over satured market
@@vertyy0331 lets hear a comparison and solution from your side. Id argue the runtime of the video and how well researched and written it is that its quite ahead of the curve
@@TheNimdude I'm not making videos on CZcams am I
@@vertyy0331 oh i wasnt meanspirited at all i mean well with my question. May even help OP
I really liked Alita but it tried to cram too much into a single film and the end of the movie it has three endings for three different plot lines that makes the final experience kinda longwinded and weird feeling cuz the movie felt over the previous two times.
I think manga usually work better as longform TV adaptations (mostly anime, but doesn't necessarily have to be). There's usually so much, that condensing it into a 2-3 hour movie is always going to be difficult to do at all, and excruciatingly difficult to do well.
I think it's often the case that short stories make for the best movie adaptations.
@@Syntopikon all comic books of any cultural format seem to, until Disney+ came along and threw a monkey wrench into the precedent hahaha!
As of right now Megalopolis is said to hit theaters in September of this year.
Fingers crossed. I almost left it because it didn't have a distributor but I decided to include it after Lionsgate stepped in. That movie has had a wild ride.
horizon an america saga is another one. kevin costner wanted to make it since the 80s and remortgaged his house to finally get it done. it’s in theatres now and although i personally liked it i understand the criticism.
I'm looking forward to seeing both Horizon and Megalopolis, irrespective of critical reviews. I admire the fact that Costner and Coppola put their money where their mouth is and self-funded these movies to considerable extent. That's worth a watch in my book.
@@Syntopikon can’t agree more. i’ll always show love to directors perusing a dream project!
Agreed a decent but disjointed movie
Nice
ALITA 2 NEEDS TO HAPPEN!
I swear this thumbnail and title have been in development hell
Are u saying we could have gotten Eminem as Max!? Hardy is still good but what a lost chance!
Is it too much to ask for one last (actual) Mad Max film with a haggard old Mel Gibson?
I'm hoping we get it as well. Honestly, if they want to reinvigorate the series, that might be the thing to do it. But Miller will have to control the budget this time - Fury Road and Furiosa ended up being VERY expensive, perhaps more than they ought to have been. But at least Fury Road made money; Furiosa all but collapsed.(in the context of its budget).
Orus!
Alita had tons of potential but to me it went downhill when they introduced a incredibly bland love interest.
It's a masterpiece.
