  • Jesus told me: This is what happens when a sinner dies!
    Dear brothers and sisters,
Saint Catherine of Siena was blessed with the gift of conversing with Jesus through mystical experiences. The words of Jesus that Catherine transcribed about hell and purgatory are a glimpse into what could happen to all of us.
Let us listen attentively to Jesus' words as reported by Saint Catherine so that they may illuminate our path of faith.

For messages of truth, no music is necessary. The music here is OK. What turns me off is that so many other spiritual videos make their presentation look like a Hollywood production with loud music and special effects, and the same stock images over and over again. Often the content doesn't even mention what the description says. The info is never that precise. I no longe watch them.

I've read the Bible cover to cover more than a few times. I'm still an ignorant sinner saved by Grace and believer in Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross.
This kind of presentation just doesn't completely fall in line with what I've read in the Old or New Testaments of the Bible.
I sensed something not quite right with it. It struck me like more of the type thing one would read or hear of from a Nostradamus prophecy, which is another self-appointed messenger of what's what and who's who in the spiritual realm.
I think I'll just stick with what's written in the Bible.

      @pamelagarcia9168 Před 3 dny

His comment when he said "it is finished" is in John's Gospel. He was the only eyewitness. So if you read it you will read something that is not in the other gospels. It said "in order for Scripture to be fulfilled" he drank. The soldier had taken a "hyssop branch" and dipped it into vinegar, what they called cheap wine and lifted it to Jesus and in order for Scripture to be fulfilled he drank. This was the same type of branch which was dipped into the lamb's blood during the first Passover and put over the door so that the angel of death would pass over. During the Passover meal there are four cups of wine, the last is the one where they renew their consecration to God. But at the last supper they only drank three cups of wine. How do we know. Because in Acripture it says after the sang a psalm they left for Gethsemane. Now every Jew knew that the meal had not been completed. Jesus said "this IS My Body" not this represents my body. This is My Blood, the blood of the New Covenant. Jesus's seamless garment was the same as the high priest wears when sacrficing the Passover lamb. Jesus was both the high priest and the lamb and the fourth cup was the last cup and the Passover meal was completed on the cross. What was finished? The Passover meal. Now St. Paul warns his followers that those who eat and drink this unworthily are guilty of Jesus's death and "that is why some of you are sick and some of you are dying". For eating a symbol?? The Jews believed that when the Messiah came all animal sacrifices would end and would be replaced by the perfect sacrifice of bread and wine. How could bread and wine be the perfect sacrifice? Read John 6 . Jesus tells his followers they must eat His Body and drink His Blood to have life in them. He repeated it over and over. The Jews there fully understood that he was speaking literally. And they left except for his Apostles. If they had misunderstood as a teacher he had a moral obligation to call them back and correct their understanding. Jesus turned to his Apostles and asked if they were leaving also. Peter said where would we go Lord for you have the words of life. Which group are you in? Go through your Scripture and highlighlight how many times say you must DO the will of His father, " 5:50 but not all who call me Lord, Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven but those who DO the will of my Father". Jesus describes that when that day comes and the angels sepe3the goats from the lambs he will tell the lambs to enter because "they fed him when he was hungry, gave him to drink when he was thirsty, clothed him when he was naked, visited him when he was in prison..etc,. Who was he speaking to, nonbelievers? Yes, His death paid the price but not all will stay in grace but those who live out His message and as St. Paul says "perseveres til the end". He evens talks about how he punishes his body lest he lose the vrry salvation he has preached to them. He talks about his sufferings making up what lacks in the cross. Did he mean that Jesus's sacrifice was not enough? No. He meant that we must participate fully in imitating Christ. "Pick up your cross and follow me". And St
Paul clearly describes the many sins that can keep us from heaven, again it is our doing. BTW, you misunderstand "works of the law". The law was the Torah which not only included the books of the Old Tedtament but all the laws on dietary restrictions, work, interactions between Jews and gentiles...etc,. Jesus said he came not to destroy the law but to fulfill it. So St. Paul was talking to the Jews about whether circumsion for gentiles and dietary laws for gentiles should be the same as the old laws for Jews. You must read each epistle wholly realizing each was written to different groups who had separate and different issues, to the Jews one letter and to Greeks and Romans other letters and other issues.

The whole concept of sinners vs good people doesn't make sense to me.
Two people die and one has been evil and goes to hell, one has been good and goes to heaven. The one that goes to hell has been cruel and self serving while one has been generous and compassionate... but why are they so different?
The "evil" person may have been born into a family of addiction and abuse, they were taught that people are evil and that you need to do anything to survive and to seek pleasure wherever you can. This person never heard of God or Jesus and never had a "calling". They may have been in a war torn country or starving and cold. Even good people do awful things such as the plane crash cannibals or the person with a brain tumor that commits horrendous acts. What about head hunting tribes that think nibbling on a brain is perfectly normal behavior?
We are basically programmed by DNA and environment to make the "choices" that we do... I highlight choices because I don't believe there is a choice only a predictable programmed response. Yes there are many cases of bad people turning their lives around and finding God but they were wired that way or were lucky enough to meet someone who turned them around, but what if they didn't meet that person? What if they weren't wired that way? The opposite is true for the "good" person who may have had wonderful parents who taught them the scriptures, virtues, manners, compassion and generosity. They did well at school and had good jobs and were surrounded by love and good role models. The whole heaven hell thing would only make sense if there was a level playing field which definitely is not the case.

Jesus said about death...you are "asleep". So, nothing happens after death until Christ returns to raise both the living and the dead. Then there is judgement of your life. This judgement takes into account your entire life, so the playing field is also taken into account.

There is zero biblical support for a purgatory. None. Repent while it is today. Call on Jesus to be Lord over your life. Choose HIM and your passage to paradise (HEAVEN) is paid in full

The principle behind purgatory is purification because nothing impure can enter heaven (Rev 21:27). Not all souls are instantly ready to go to God in a state of perfect contrition and embrace His holiness. Therefore some purgation of the soul may be required to sever soul attachments and have spirits made perfect in God’s presence (Hebrews 12:23). Souls in purgatory are already on route to be deemed righteous and faithful, but with remaining imperfections that need to be willfully detached from.
Since salvation in a general sense requires consent of the soul’s will, this transitory state of God’s justice and mercy being applied are not going to be a uniform process. Some souls will need more, others less based on the integrity of the works that their faith produced and remaining attachments (1 Corinthians 3:13-15). Their faith may have been fairly good, but have elements of imperfection and thus not fully meriting heaven. As an act of mercy, the soul can undergo reparations for certain types of imperfect contrition. Paul says in Colossians 1:24 that he is completing in his flesh the afflictions that are lacking in Christ’s body (church). He’s obviously not saying that Christ’s sacrifice is insufficient, but from his own end, is using his own temporal sufferings to complete the Church. I presume he wouldn’t need to do any suffering at all if he believed he could just say a magic word and go straight to heaven without any cooperation required on his part.
The issue with the good thief is that there are many unknowns, given that he is an exceptional case who met Jesus in person and technically would have been judged under the old convenant. We firstly don’t know if the thief has to undergo any purification after death, even if it would have been mere minutes or hours. We also don’t know if the good thief died in a state of perfect contrition - although we believe it’s very likely that he did have a special grace to do so, given his role in God’s story. Luke 12:42-48 in the example of the 4 servants also gives us an idea of different levels of temporal punishment versus an eternal punishment.
Moreover the thief’s crucifixion may have been a sufficient temporal punishment to satisfy God’s need for disciplinary justice for each of us (Hebrews 12:6-9).
So justice demands it, which is a reflection on Luke 12:59 where we see a parable which explains how God’s justice on a prisoner requires full reparations. The sentence is carried out for remaining transgressions by the soul, but that certain prisoner eventually gets released. So it can also be seen as a form of settling accounts. God’s mercy is applied via the blood of Christ, and any pending justice from any unrepaired and/or unrepented venial sin (1 John 5:16-17) is settled, the soul gets purified and released into heaven. Not all unrepented sin leads to a complete rejection of God. For example, littering. Careless littering would technically be a sin, but probably isn’t something that will eternally separate you from God if not repented and accounted justly for before death. However, justice demands it still needs to be paid for (sort of like a smaller civil fine) as it is still implies a defect of the soul being present.
It follows logic and the tradition of many of the fathers
“Temporal punishments are suffered by some in this life only, by some after death, by some both here and hereafter, but all of them before that last and strictest judgment. But not all who suffer temporal punishments after death will come to eternal punishments, which are to follow after that judgment” (The City of God 21:13 [A.D. 419
“That there should be some fire even after this life is not incredible, and it can be inquired into and either be discovered or left hidden whether some of the faithful may be saved, some more slowly and some more quickly in the greater or lesser degree in which they loved the good things that perish, through a certain purgatorial fire” (Handbook on Faith, Hope, and Charity 18:69 [A.D. 421])

2 Timothy 1:18, Matthew 12:32, Luke 23:43, 1 Corinthians 3:11-3:15 and Hebrews 12:29 are verses used to support Biblical proof of Purgatory. Are they worded oddly, yes, especially Matthew 12:32 (St. Augustin uses this as evidence of Purgatory). If we do not go off of what saints have stated for when they saw Purgatory, we honestly will never fully know until we die.
