This is the story of one of the most controversial Patek Philippe releases to have ever graced the patek Philippe catalogue. The first iteration of the 5235 is the 5235G. Released in 2011, it received a lukewarm welcome from the watch community. Some considered it too different, too modern, even too aggressive to be considered a real Patek Philippe. This watch is indeed unlike any other Patek in their collection. The 5235G has since been discontinued and it has been replaced by the 5235R which we look at in this video.
Great video! The 5235r is probably my favorite watch from Patek Philippe under $100k. It has perfect size at 40.5mm x 10mm. And the combination of the beautiful two-tone regulator dial, the stunning 31-260 micro rotor movement with a unique 3.2 Hz beat rate, and the advanced research components, makes this a special timepiece. A future classic, imho.
I love how beautiful that dial looks under the light. Such a nice vertical brush effect
100% agreed! Thanks for watching 👍
5235G is one of the best watch ever - great complication, original design, true Patek advanced technology, white gold and silver dial for daily wear, quite understated and only for connaisseurs!
fully agree!
That regulator dial explanation is the most accurate information I’ve heard to date 😂🤘 Wonderful video!
😆🙏
Amazing! This video is more beautiful than describing this watch and presented it in a way that does it justice! Thank you two years later 😄
Haha, thank you - I very much appreciate it :-)
Beautiful...unfortunately pateks tend to offer very little water resistance, so I can't imagine getting one as a daily watch for any kind of situation
.... it will have to be my G Shock or a Rolex OP ! Very cool video. And wow that movement!
Thank you! For a daily, very hard to beat the two you mentioned imho, superb watches that can take a (massive) beating.
The new 2021 PP 5236 Perpetual uses a slightly modified version of this base movement, with platinum rotor and 4Hz.
The more you look at this the more stunning it looks.
100% agreed 🤩👍
Good work on the editing and writing 👍👍
Thanks a lot Etienne!
Would love your take on a modern datejust 36. Specifically a black dial version.
Thanks for mentioning, I will try and get my hands on one. Can’t promise anything however 😅👍
I had to noticed 2 things, minute and sekund the pointer dose not match on the dail when the secunds are at 60 the minute hans are not next to the mark
😂 Nice. I love your videos! So well produced and entertaining…and I always learning a few things. Thank you! 🙏
Thanks a lot Spektograf! Much appreciate the kind feedback
Just put an order in for this watch. Fabulous video!
Congratulations!! This iteration or the initial one? Both awesome either way. And a watch with a clear identity in the Patek line-up. Zero doubt that it is a collectible as well as a gorgeous piece.
@@degriff The new one! I was fairly convinced this was a very interesting watch after watching Patek's video but your video was awesome also and just pushed me over the edge. Now just waiting for it to arrive at the AD :)
@@kaiserphoenix01 have you received it yet? Your comment was left a year ago according to CZcams!
@@zanef28 Yes, I love it so much even got the 5236P as well.
one of the best looking PP
What has changed between the G and R version ?
It will be collectible piece one day.
1000% sure. Thanks for watching!
5236P all the way!
hear hear, that thing is a beauty for sure
GyromaxSI is part of their advanced research, which this watch does NOT have. It has the standard Gyromax than has been around for decades. Also, this watch hacks. Overall, nice video.
Pateks also don't hack. 300 bucks Timex Marlin is better.
Generally not having stop seconds is such an odd fact with Patek indeed. The 5235 does hack however (a rarity at Patek).
@@degriff oh, that's rare indeed. Anyway, many of them works on low beats and have low power reserves. Cheap watches are cheap bec of these factors. High on architecture, low on engineering.

This is high on architecture and high on engineering, and available in affordable SS, SLGH003.
