I got pretty far in this game back in like 95. The 1st person levels could be scary at times.

the amount of running around this game has you do is crazy. I remember leaving the console on multiple days to finish it as a kid because no saves.

The mountain theme brought me here, i recalled the game having a godly ost. Been 30 years since i last played this, so that's a helluva impression to have someone remember the music after so long. GG on the record, i knew the speedrun wouldn't disappoint!

The original didn't have it due to all of that data storage that would've been required at the time.

I was such a JP fanboy as a child and when I got this game I got mad hype. Played it for days on end and couldn't do shit all. I'm 34 now and I still can't beat it 😂

I remember having to write into Nintendo Power for a walk through of the raptor pen! Ah, life before the internet! I never knew what the letters on the ground in the overworld meant...
Sup buddy! The letters on the overworld were part of a cultural contest organized by Ocean. Here's the writeup on wikipedia:
The letters then had to be decoded to reveal a secret message: "Dr. Horner". The answer was a reference to paleontologist Jack Horner, who was a consultant on the film. Two days after the game's release, the eventual winner of the contest correctly guessed the answer after playing the game for 10 hours. The winner was awarded with a $5,000 check.

I did it without knowing anything about English. Translating everything i could with a dictionary and trying to understand words without context. So, it is possible!
I managed to finally do it a few weeks ago, albeit with some guides.
Some of these intentional deaths are pretty funny given the context. "I would rather have a Goddamn boulder fall on me than walk across that map again! This level design is turrible!"

If one does not know anything about the game, it is easy to get lost and spend hours looking for key-cards. Nearly every key-card you find is useless in the building you occupy atm. Back-tracking into buildings where every floor looks the same, holy cow. This game is actually fun as hell. I would rank it in a top 10 or 20.

Thanks! This game got waaaaay rushed to meet the movie deadline so this is as best as they could make it (not very much so as it turns out). But yeah, who needs maps and saves and passwords when you have the pain as the true motivator lol. Glad you enjoyed it.

I got this game in 3rd grade, I didn't have birthday parties or holidays growing up but one day I got picked up from school and my parents gave me and my sister $30 each to get whatever we want at toys-r-us... I chose this game and a few other small things, I remember leaving this game on for days since there's no save option.. never beat it but got surprisingly far a few times now that I've watched people play it through

I had no idea there were actually two spots that the t-Rex spawned. I know I tripped the music once for the second spot by standing in a certain spot, but the T-Rex never spawned. I guess it was because I didn’t walk into the right area.

How did it let you finish the “clear the ship of dinos” part if there was still a raptor left to kill you in the dark room immediately after you contacted the helicopter?
Yeah, I know it's confusing lol. We use a glitch called "Raptor Spawn", where we can duplicate a raptor after killing a normal enemy. The game counts your kills down from the total enemies in each floor and once it hits zero, it never comes up again. So we kill the last dino, spawn another in it's place, and the game thinks there's no more enemies in that floor. I always wonder how you beat this game. Ever since I was a small kid. Today I got to see it! And I gotta say when you finish the game it's very anticlimactic. I expected a bigger celebration for beating a game that literally gives you ZERO clues on how to win and makes you run around maze after maze hoping to find something to help you figure this game out. This game is so funny

I've watched this part several times now and I do not understand how you can walk into the visitor center at 29:48 with no lives, take the elevator to the raptor pen, move the box, DIE, and then spawn at the VC with 2 lives??

Hey bud! There's no Game Overs in this game. Once you hit 0 lives, the counter just resets to 2 again. I'm not 100% on this, but I think that was a programming oversight that wasn't caught for lack of play-testing. This game got pushed out the door very quickly and it has A TON of stuff that could be solved with a couple more months of work. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for wathching! I Haven't streamed in a while but I can tell you this: you cannot kill the T-Rex in any way, shape or form that we know off. We even used a game shark infinite ammo cheat for that and it does not die. So there's that.
I always hated the first person segments in this game. Also why is he walking around in a scuba mask? lol
lol I know, right? SNES Doom had the same problem. Mode 7 could fake a 3D enviroment but only to a certian point. They needed to narrow the FOV and create a frame in order to make the SNES Toaster-like processor run it at a blistering 15 FPS. Still impressive for the time, but it aged badly. This game remake (from the NES) greatly suffers from:
1. lack of save feature or a password system
2. this game is dying for an in-game map of the open field and interior areas
3. this is literally an open world game done poorly, the game starts and they set you off on your own; not asking for any lore but at the very least give the players definitive objectives so that they have a sense of direction. If you have not read the novel or watched the movies, nothing is explained, everything is so cryptic and you are playing blindfolded not knowing what is going on.
Agreed. This game could have been A LOT better, but it's fun for what it was: a rental game you get for a weekend. I feel it's pretty enjoyable once you know what you have to do, but it is really confusing. 6 more months in development could have saved it. Anyway, thanks for watching!
