It would be great to see the restoration of this project completed with a running locomotive in the future when your museum is larger and more complete.

That is a lovely job, and a great credit to all the team who're working on it. I hope that you can eventually get her in steam once again, given that Mike's crew are putting all the ancillary fittings back into working order. Those old steam locos were all built tough and to last, whether they came from Baldwin, Grant, Davenport, Sharp Stewarts, Hunslet or Bagnall's. Good luck to you all.

The 10-32-D class Ten-Wheelers were actually engines you would find in the Baldwin Locomotive Works catalog. Baldwin built them from 1915 until 1927.

Heck, I'd think itd be worth it to not skip the boiler if everything else is perfect and functional. To my eye, it's like taking a Duesenberg rotting in a barn and making it Pebble Beach condition but leaving the engine seized.
What if a time comes and there are plans on making 106 operational again but it's 20 years from now and everything needs to be dismantled and inspected again?

The problem I'd assume is the cost. A boiler rebuild can cost half a million dollars or more! A few years back I heard a quote of $400,000 for a locomotive boiler rebuild, and that was a smaller locomotive than this that only needed to be transported to a nearby city in the same State. Places that'll do the job are few and far between, so that just makes things worse.
Also, at least if a rebuild comes in the far future when everything needs redoing yet again, it'll be in a heck of a lot better of condition that it would be without all this work!
