Usually love what they all do, but this got thumbs down from me. Bit of a mish mash from the band, and no attempt should be made to cover Janis unless you have her powerful voice. Unfortunately, this young lady hasn't. The vocals were barely heard.

Are you kidding me? These are the best young musicians in the country. Maybe you should only listen to studio recordings instead of live performances.

This vocalist is just as good or better than Janis Joplin.

Oh I beg to differ Sir,
Is the band a little loose in spots? Sure, so what?! These kids can hold their own with the best of the best. Just like any other skill you start from nothing and work to perfect your craft. And if you are honest with yourself as a musician there is always more to learn, and more work to be done to perfect your craft, for the rest of eternity. As far as the young woman on the mic is concerned she is on FIRE yeah she missed a few notes but there are countless videos of Janis missing notes and being off key too. Don't get me wrong I LOVE Janis! A of part of the magic of performers like Janis is they push themselves to their limit and sometimes beyond what they are capable of. AND, they do it on stage pouring every ounce of their heart, soul, and energy out for everyone in the audience to see. You can tell from this video that this young lady has the vocal talent and ability to personally connect with an audience on that level. This young woman is singing this song for herself, she just happened to grab everybody else by the collar to drag them along. It's just that kind of song
The sound quality of the video leaves a lot to be desired, and that happens a lot when recording a live performance. I think if you could hear the recording from the mixer (and I certainly hope there is one for posterity's sake) you might have a different opinion about her talent, ability, and performance. This young woman has "a powerful voice" and she is a natural performer. She has the ability to connect with people on a visceral level, like Janis, Alanis Morrisette, Dolores O'Riordan and all the other great women or rock if she chooses to.
My hats off to this entire group of young musicians! You can tell they've been working hard and putting in the hours. Keep on, Keepin’ on!

Thanks for writing a nice long review for this performance Bon! This band had an amazing performance that night. The sound isn't perfect, but I was using a really good Sony microphone.
