    This is really helpful. I'm doing something very similar. Ques if you dont mind: Do I need the blocks after every 4 ft? I'm planning to put them every 6 ft. And do I need the 4×4 adjustable steel deck supports on the deck block? My shed would be 22 ft (L) X 10 ft (W). Thanks again.

      When spaced 16 OC joists can span 1.5 times in ft their depth in inches.
      Allowable span for 2x6 is 9ft, so you can place deck blocks 6ft apart.
      No, you don't need adjustable steel deck supports. Deck supports make leveling your shed much easier.

    Thank you so much for this video. I have been researching what base to use for my shed that didn't require us to pay someone big bucks to pour concrete and lay the foundation. I think my husband and I can do this. I went to the link and got the full instructions, but I have a question. When I use the wood foundation, how and where do I attach the anchors to prevent the shed from moving/blowing away because we live in a "wind tunnel" here in California. Thanks, again.

    This is great thanks! I saw one drawing showing joists.
    Looks like you were using 2x6. How did you get 16 3/4, 32 3/4 etc... from corner m to next joist. Isn’t it 1 1/2 width for each 2x6 so from corner edge in diagram would it be 3/4 wood (OC part) 14 1/2 space then 3/4 OC part of next joist to get you to 16 in OC apart?? Part always confused me. Sorry for newbie question

      If you pull your tape on a board and go to the 16 inch mark and then mark 3/4 of an inch on either side of 16 inches, you will have a 1 1/2 inch space to put your board on.

    Do you need the rocks? Im a renter, so im trying to build a modular shed I can disassemble and move. I want to leave as little of a footprint as possible. Ill have to re sod under the shed when i move. Itll be 16ftx8ft. Plus it looks like you used 2x6, correct?
    Edit: i could use rocks under the blocks, but i would prefer something else for ground cover

    What kind of shed can you recommend? Love the deck blocks!!

  • @pati7571
    @pati7571 Před 3 lety

    The deck blocks we found leave about an inch for the boards, your deck blocks look closer to two inches deep for the boards. Seems like the ones we found here locally at Lowe’s or HDepot wouldn’t hold the boards very well.

    Why do you put the gravel over the tarp is that for moisture barrier? What kind of material is the tarp?

    • @Craig-ib7gk
      @Craig-ib7gk Před 2 lety

      The tarp is water-permeable ground cover. Most builder supply stores carry it in spools. It is to prevent vegetation growth. The gravel serves three purposes: it assist drainage, it also deters vegetation growth, and it weighs down the ground cover, keeping it firmly grounded.

    Hi, loved the video. The concrete foundations you used look great. However, I was wondering if we can use them for 20x10 floor(garden studio) as well? Someone told me that they are for decks only. 🤔🤔

    The location where I would prefer the shed (10x8) is on the side of the house where the ground is soft. I THINK it's because the trees are shading that area and it's been raining here and there.
    If,
    a) I wait weeks for that area to dry, do you think it's ok to build the foundation on that spot?
    b) How do I test for dryness ready?
    c) Or just look for a new location altogether since that area could shift the foundation if it rains or snows?
    Thank you for the tutorial. It's great!!!!
