Thank heavens we have YT in this modern age & its capacity to preserve + spread the awareness & fondness for wonderful, classic all-time footage such as this. Arthur Smith & his boys are fantastic from this era .. & seeing this, I just wonder how successful someone as legendary & talented as JE Mainer might've also been, had he given cinema-based performing opportunities like this one. I can just visualise JE really going to town on the old fiddle or the 5-string, in a situation like this one ..
@Upcamehill Hi, I know your question was 6 months ago , but there is a 4cd box set of the Delmore Brothers and disc B has 25 tracks of fiddlin Arthur Smith, track no 1 being 'Mocking Bird'Hope thats a help.(its about £12 on Amazon), plus you get the other great cds= A- Delmore Brothers C-The Browns Ferry Four (with Grandpa Jones and Merle Travis) and D-Wayne Raney, all with the Delmores .
About 25 yrs ago I heard, on the radio, LISTEN TO THE MOCKINGBIRD, played by Fiddlin' Arthur Smith. At least that is what I thought all of these years. I have never heard it again. Would you know if he actually played the song? I think that it was the best version that I ever heard.

THIS is my UNCLE!!!!!
@ratherknotty Thanks for the information on Fiddlin' Arthur Smith. I will look into it. It sounds like a good set of CD's.
Wow! Fantastic.
Nice to see the clip, but why did you stretch the 4:3 aspect ratio into ultra-wide format? It looks like they've all be squashed by a falling log.
Dub Taylor standing at the table...wanting to play his harmonica.....
I think it is Cliffie Stone on the bass and Dick Reinhart on the banjo.
I have never found Smith's rendition of Listen to the Mockingbird.
