I am amazed of how much the Albanian music is similar to the Romanian music sometimes! You may think this is a regional Romanian song! The ways of reasoning, expression, even their faces are similar! It does remember the Thracian thesis in Romania around 1900: Albanians are Romania's cousins. Following the French attitude towards Romania, Romanians also provided a shelter for Albanians before their struggle for independence. And the Albanian anthem is written on a Romanian-composed melody. There is even a significant Vlach (South Balkan Romanian) minority in Albania, too. These nations do really have important common features!
Well the main reason is because of their proximity, in terms of geographic proximity and socio-economic.
Because of their similar socio-economic stuatus, Albanians would go to Romania for some times and Romanian would come to Albania, because it was and is cheaper than to go to France or England.
Yes their MAY BE a similitude in terms of ancestors, but after 1000s of years, the so-called similtude would not be there anymore because things change :p
+Bajram Bajram, you are partly right. We cannot deny the effects of the Turkish influence for about 500 years, which affected us equally. Our music, too, was influenced, and, please see my comment below, for Turi Sala. That most of Albanians are Muslims, yes, this is different. That their language is more Thracian, while ours is more Latin, of course. But the behaviour (again, please read my comment below) and traditions are mostly similar, with details differing, of course. That is why, I am only happy that, if even music, and especially music, which calls people's souls to dance, if music is similar, this would be a wonderful point of start to try to get the Balkan nations closer, more united, more tolerant and trusting each other more. I am very sure that your problems with the Serbs, although very old, can be solved, slowly, but surely, through a very thorough and intensive education of mutual tolerance and mutual acknowledgement of mistakes. In the end, why in South Africa and other less developed parts of the world, they could set up committees of reconciliation and there, in the Balkans, where people clain they are part of the civilised Europe, such things are not possible yet? Let us be fair, everybody makes mistakes. As you believe you have problems with Serbs and Greeks, Romanians believe they have problems with Russians and Hungarians. But guess what: these nations, whom we think we have problems with, they also think they have problems with us! So, is it not better to try and neutralise them for both sides, in the common interest? People in the Balkans have suffered a lot and they are very afraid. Therefore, they are mistrustful, and from here, they are intolerant and are haunted by their inferiority complex. Perhaps, together will give us a chance to get out of the positions where even in Congo-Zaire they speak of the Balkanisation of Africa... Thank you for your kind attention.

The singer's name is Shyqyri Alushi (Shi-ki-ri Allushi). Albanian singer. Born, lived and died in Citi of Shkoder, North Eastern Albania. This song is dedicated to a Albanian fighter, (war lord ) of Northern Albania, Bajram Curri (Bayram Tsurry), who was killed by secret agent of Serbia and the infamous King of Albania, Ahmet Zogu. The self declared King of Albania, assassinated in ambush, all of his opponents. The king was a quisling of the Nation by dealing secretly with Yugoslavian Government, to give to them the Albanian Northern Territory. But, the King's treasonous plans were paralyzed, thanks to the brave War Heroes, who fought to death in Popular War against the annexation of Northern Albania and protected those territories with their own blood. Bayram Curri, was Honored in 1975, with the most Honorable Title: Albanian National Hero among some other Heroes of his era, all assassinated by: hand blooded, Quisling of Albanian Nation, King Zog.
