1974 Yamaha DT360A assembly, paint and decals

- Finally getting back to this 1974 DT360A that I picked up from Vintage Days 2022 at Mid-Ohio. My friend finished up repairing the frame and now its time to paint and re-assemble.
I graduated high school in 1973, and bought this bike in 74, now i'm old and retired and still miss it, thanks for the memory

I graduated in 1983. Bought one of these used for $175 in '82. It was a little clapped out, but I rode that thing everywhere through my whole senior year and the summer after graduation. Gave it to my buddy when I left for boot camp. They are indeed great bikes.
At first I was not sure about changing the color, I love seeing 1970's Yamaha's painted yellow. At the end of the video when I saw how nice it all looked, silver fenders and green tank, oh man it looks so much better now. Great job. Beautiful!!!!!!!!! It looks pretty close to what it looked like in 1974 when it rolled off the the assembly line. I love it !!!!!!!! Thanks for making the video.
Thank you, I really appreciate that! I’ve always liked that green on the old Yamahas and I’m not opposed to the yellow, I always like making things as close to stock as possible. I think it was the MX Yamahas from that era that were yellow…and they look great! I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on a DT400 which were also yellow.

Thank you! I kinda lucked out for it being a backyard rattlecan job. The 2k clear coat is what really gives it the depth I think.

Heat gun will help with bubbles and adhesion. Very nice work! Who do you get your decals through?
Thanks again!! I got them from an eBay vendor named vintagemt1. The decals seem to be god quality. I’ll give the heat gun a try as well.

I'd like to know if these decals hold up like the original's. The paint is completely sun peeled off this RT3 I picked up, but the decals are still hanging on there faded but solid. I was thinking there must be some kind of lead in them.
The seem like decent quality but time will tell I guess!
I have a 75' DT250B. What actually goes inside the left plastic cover? There is a little ledge that looks like it is supposed to hold something but I can't for the life of me figure out what goes there. Appreciate your thoughts.
You know, I couldn’t figure that out either! It almost looks like a spot for a tool kit but that goes up under the seat. I also have a 250B…I think it was kind of an afterthought by the engineers and they just said “ let’s just hide that cavity with this plastic cover” lol. I could be wrong on that part 😆
