It sucks that some people think that this game has done nothing that other games haven't. That it is jusr another open world game. But this game did something that I simply love, that most games haven't done when it comes to open worlds. NO MINIMAP! That was amazing. And how game guides you in other ways than just pop ups. More open world games need to do this.

It's also worth noting that a game doesn't have to be completely cutting edge and Innova to be a great game. People need to give up this notion that a game has to be totally original in order to be good...a game can be a masterpiece even if it doesn't reinvent the wheel.

One of the best open world games I’ve ever played in my life. I’m still not finished with it but I’ve been clocking hours in this game. It’s amazing.

The combat in this game honestly set a new bar for me for what a game could be. There are only two games in existence that actually made me feel like I was having a duel with an opponent. Ghost of Tsushima and Sekiro. Every other game just feels like two guys flailing and swinging in the general direction of the other guy. I hope more games adapt this style of combat and Ghost proved that this feeling doesn't require the game to be insanely hard like Sekiro is, thought high difficulty isn't necessarily a bad thing in my book.
Just kudos to this team that has never done a proper melee game before. They absolutely nailed it on their first try.

I swear people always interview devs about superficial stuff like "how long is the game", "how many missions", "Who are your inspirations ?", and you see with this interview, talking about Game Design is so much more interesting : you understand the vision behind the choices they did (even the ones people didn't love, like the fact the game is easier and easier the more you progress)

Can confirm what Nate said about the localization. It's extraordinary. I've played a lot of Japanese period games and watched a lot of period films and it fits right in. I've seen many Japanese players complimenting it as well.

I think it's so wonderful that Famitsu gave the game a perfect 40/40, that's an incredible achievement. For those who don't know, Famitsu has 4 separate reviewers each rate the game on a scale of 0-10, and then the reviews are all added up to determine the total score out of a possible 40 points. That a Western studio managed to make a game about anceint Japan, and all 4 Japanese reviewers from a Japanese publication thought it was such a good, authentic representation that it deserved a perfect score, is really commendable and speaks to the amount of work that was put in to ensure this portrait of Japan would seem realistic even to Japanese people

    This game was SO good.
For me it is game of the year so far.
The game did so many things right.
Sucker Punch did the best games of last generation for me as well. Infamous 1 and 2 were best exclusives for PS3 as well for me.

Interesting hearing about the tree density, because while actually playing, I thought "this game is gorgeous, but as a nitpick, Japanese mountainsides tend to be more densely forested than this," but it is true that it would have been harder to see things and act, and the areas that _were_ dense stood out more.

Can we get this video captioned properly for deaf viewers?

    • @NoclipPodcast
      @NoclipPodcast  Před 4 lety +13

Sadly we simply don't have the budget to do it. At current rates we'd have to pay close to a thousand dollars a month to get a weekly podcast of this length captioned - especially as we intentionally don't use companies that pay unethically for this service. This wasn't taken lightly - the first 15 or so episodes of the podcast were captioned & transcribed entirely - and of course all of our documentaries - but we just can't afford to have each podcast captioned. I may look into doing a sponsorship for it at some stage, but I'm sorry that we won't have these captioned. Of course the docs will continue to be.

Wonderful interview as always from NoClip. Im still only on Act 2 but I purposely avoid stealth where I can. I want to stand as a true Samurai and still fight against the Ninja aspects. I enjoy the game allows me to have a lot of that roleplay built within most of its game systems

Got my OG PS4 to play Second Son back in spring 2014 and now we have come full circle... this game was everything I wanted and is my GOTY. I'm kind of sad that I have platinum'd the game already, I just wish I could spend forever in the game. I feed foxes every night in real life, so the Inari shrines really connected with me and I particularly loved the duels.
I really hope there is a sequel (and we can cut normal bamboo trees haha) , the collectors edition is beautiful. I'd like to thank Nate Fox, Jason Connell and the whole team for making such a fantastic game that has been one of my best experiences in gaming.

This game achieved a kind of magic that no other open world achieved for me: I avoid checking marks on the map, I prefer to go mark quests through the classic menu, and While heading to a main quest, I bumped into Yuna in the middle of nowhere and had a very fluid dialogue until the game asked if I wanted to stop what I was doing to help her.
Pretty simple but the focus on the mood and minimal UI just blows me away in immersion,

I don't think it's meant to be used on the first playthrough. That seems like something you'd do after your second or third time through the game. Which is what they say in this very video. If you did that on your first playthrough, you would be missing out on one of the most beautiful console games ever made.
