Despite having already read about him and his techniques in numerous books, thanks to this video I have an instantly discovered profoundly heightened respect for Milton Erickson. Wow. Incredible how he just used language and trance to cognitively trap, snare, squeeze and dissolve the uncomfortable trauma!
Which books do you recommend on his techniques?
@@Alinton952 It depends on what aspects of hypnotherapy you seeking, but just roughly "My Voice Will Go With You" and "Patterns of Hypnotic Techniques" are good starts - and have quite a bit of detail, too. The Seminars ones are great to see case studies.

So interesting for him to tune into the present emotional process reflected in her body reactions, and bringing attention to the fear versus longing dilemma; a direct pathway into deep, hypnotic attunment. Had to edit to say, he highlights her resilience from the past and brings into the present. Very cool indeed. Thank you Jeff and crew for keeping Dr. Erickson alive.
He is %100 correct, my subconsciousness has suppressed much of my childhood memories cuz my conscience mind would get upset to relive all that BS!
It all makes sense, unconscious mind is personalities of the past. They are all in one, but one comes out at a given moment.
My journey into hypnotherapy was quite an odd one. I heard about Milton and he seemed like something of a Jesus type character, so I thought best, being a novice, to learn from disciple's of his, and those who grew their own form from Milton. I went through courses of at least 10 different practitioners from D.A. Taft, Stephen brooks, Igor Lewdowaski, to NLP practitioners like Richard Bandler and John Grinder.. eventually arriving at Jeff Zeig before finally facing the man Milton Erickson. By that time I felt like I knew the man well, but listening to Milton is like facing the sun directly in summer at midday. What a bright mind that's even more astounding when you close your eyes and feel the micro adjustments he makes in tone and tempo and scenary. It's quite delightful to encounter a master of the craft.

I just read Rosen's book of his stories and I'm fascinated. It's probably the only book I've ever finished and then turned back to the front to begin again the same day
I'm not sure what to make of this video. on the surface it seems he's doing something very simple, but at the same time I know there's likely a lot of nuance there. Then again, sometimes the best things are the simplest

He is such a wonderful, awesome Man, so sad that I've never met him personally. But he still lives in my mind everyday. And since i'd been in his house, which showed me his son he is even more alive for me.... something what i strongly recommend visiting his house when you're working wiyh his approach.
I believe it's preserved in care of Milton Erickson foundation. It's a museum of sorts. Feel free to follow the digital threads.

hmmm, he's making the suggestion to banish her pain into the unconscious. that's not healing. healing is making our life conscious and integrating not avoiding and sequestering. this is fragmentation what he's doing in my perception. just my perception.
