Dawid, I'm in the UK, and I would NEVER even consider going to Currys/PC World for anything, let alone spend my daughter's inheritance on a PC from them. At best, they offer second rate equipment at extortionate prices. At worst...well I couldn't think of anything worse than them, except maybe buying a system from a boot sale, paying in cash money and expecting it to work. Oh, as you are coming to the UK, why not pop in for a cuppa?

Can confirm, Micro Center is far and away the best option to get a prebuilt if you have one near you.
My girlfriend was able to get a prebuilt with a TUF+ Z690 motherboard, 3080 Ti (EVGA FTW Ultra), i9-12900KF, 32 GB 3600mhz Ripjaws, 1 TB WD Blue NvME SSD, 850w Powerspec G+ PSU, Coolermaster AIO, and a Lian Li Mesh front/top panel case, all for only $2,400 USD. And top it off, she was able to get a 32 inch Asus TUF 2k 144hz curved monitor for ~$250 USD.

It arrived very well packaged and shipped, and is very well put together with real parts. Cable managed well too. Zero bloatware (other than Windows itself trying to get me to upgrade to 11- which is not a good idea on Ryzen right now). Only issue was it had a regular SATA drive instead of NVMe and I got that resolved easily enough. Newegg support was fast to help (Maybe Gamers Nexus really did make them change). Temperatures and noise are also not bad- I was expecting worse with the solid front panel but the top fans seem to really help (why do people keep designing PC cases with solid fronts?). I would totally recommend them for prebuilds. Shopping price only matters if you are getting something worth getting. All the propriety crap and cut down parts on even "gaming PC" Dells and HPs make me sad.

A year ago prebuilt was the better option but now with prices going down it’s always better to build your own there’s many guides on CZcams explaining step by step and it’s not rocket science it takes a few hours at most to build it and it’s always better if you do it when upgrading down the road you will know how to access certain cables etc. Also most prebuilts rip the consumer off using stock coolers, low ram speeds and low storage ssd’s etc.

    • @zeroturn7091
      @zeroturn7091 Před rokem +4

The only reason to go prebuilt is if it is cheaper to source it for parts. Last month one could get a base model Victus 15L and the option to add a 3060ti was a $290 upgrade. The whole system was under $900 with the upgrade.
Even without the GPU it would still have the 5600G and be a spare system.
What I have learned is that the Ryzen platform should be avoided with prebuilts as most tend to have a locked down BIOS limited to JEDEC timings and completely discard the option for SmartAccessMemory. This is why I believe the AMD option tends to be cheaper. The case, motherboard, and PSU are immediate end of life products for me.

Not a prebuilt, but I did order a "custom" built PC from skytech recently. Only a few weird issues, like one of my cooler fans being connected to the motherboard, but not to the cooler. (the chonky af noctua one with dual fans/heatsinks) Because the fan wouldnt fit with the ram installed lol, i just took it off and it cools perfectly fine which is nice.
Then when I first plugged it in, everything turned on, but no display. Worked with live chat for like 3 hrs and determined it was somehow 2 bad ram sticks (I only got 2 so that sucked), luckily had backup ram laying around so could still setup my pc.
Had to fight through multiple bluescreens during windows setup to update my graphics driver, which fixed that issue, was fun.
My replacement ram came in, they 'accidently' only sent 1 ram stick, because yes (it came in a clear package that had a sticker for someones refurbished 1650 lol). Luckily that seemed to fix the issue for whatever reason, just 1 new stick along with 1 of the originals.
Then i had to unplug my computer recently for reasons, and it did the same no display issue, didn't feel like dealing with them again so I tried updating my bios, ram works now. But still not brave enough to unplug my computer again to test it, in case its a much weirder issue.
Overall, 8/10ish experience i guess. Everything was put together well (minus that fan lol), cable management is top tier and no new problems so far. Have heard there prebuilts are good as far as prebuilts go.
edit: Also no bloatware, unless you count a very low resolution background. and maybe a url shortcut to their support page.

Came with dual channel ram, updated drivers, and everything. Runs slightly louder with the stock cooler and I had to adjust the back fans rpms but otherwise no complaints for a pre-built. Looked 6 months later and the same listing was selling for $700 more.

Hey Dawid! I am in Aus and I decided to check pricing here. The GTX 1660 Super has come down from $899AUD to $439AUD. Pretty much what I paid 2 years ago just before the scalpocalypse. I am actually really surprised that they have actually come down so much because we really get screwed on pricing for everything down here.

I've been so thankful I scored a Skytech prebuilt from BestBuy in the weeks following the botched 3060 launch. Ryzen 5 3600 2060 Super for $999. I did not realize at the time what a unicorn I found. Within about a week, all prebuilts were snatched up for their insanely priced GPUs....

2:33 I have purchased a Skytech PC and if I remember correctly it either had no bloatware or like one or two programs that some might consider "bloatware". Sadly the GPU didn't seem to work right while gaming and I ended up getting a refund on it. It had like a Ryzen 5800x and a Radeon 6900 xt inside a case that was basically a rip-off of the O11 Dynamic case. 360mm AIO on the CPU and FOUR sticks of RAM for some reason.

I have a sky tech pc that I bought on 2020 before for scalping problem. It had a 2060 and still have a ryzen 5 3600. Everything worked fine and it didn’t have any bloat ware. It was great for 1080p gaming. The only things I immediately upgraded after purchase was a 1tb 2.5 storage drive and added two 140 mm fans for the front sides. It helped a lot with the cooling. It also advertised as 16 gb (1x16) 3000 ddr4 memory but I got instead was 2x8gb sticks of 3200 ddr4
I no longer have a 2060 now (switch to a 2070 super) and upgraded the power supply to 750w (came with 500w). It’s been fine for now.

Could've been AMD's amazing GPU drivers, they needed months to stabilize both the 5000 and 6000 series in terms of driver support, it's funny. But I think they work fine now which is important.

@@CarkBurningMoo It was 32 GB of RAM. I was just surprised that they spent extra to get four 8 gig sticks instead of two 16 gig sticks. I know that two sticks are better than one but I've never heard of four being better than two in a dual channel motherboard.
Edit: OK I just did a Google and apparently four sticks seems to at least sometimes be better. Never knew this!

Dawid, as a tech enthusiast from the UK I say you should go wherever, and buy from wherever you like. In fact the more likely you are to get a crappy experience, the more views you'll probably get lol
There is no mecca for PC systems here, but some places you can try are SCAN, eBuyer, CCL Computing, Novatech, and DinoPC. These places all have physical locations you can visit, and they're fairly well spread out. Hopefully one or two of them are near you.
Safe journey, and dear God wear a mask for your own sake. Covid cases are up 30% this week, and the last thing you need is to be stuck quarantined

Right now, (at least based on what I've seen) the prebuilt market seems to be getting a bit of a resurgence in major manufacturers, but in the form of cheap workstations which have almost sleeper-like qualities. An example is the HP Evnvy TE01 with 16gigs ram, 256 gigs ssd, 2tb hdd, rtx3060 12gig, i7(I dont remember exactly which), and all costing 1000 USD last time I checked. I can't say much about the airflow, but it seems pretty reasonable. Overall seems like a pretty good deal imo.
