Well every year during the competitive exams period every 42 mins a su*cide happens by a student, even though we are extremely populated the population drops at those months and China again takes to the number one populated country, it's a running joke here but extremely sad because that one exam decides everything and the difficulty levels of Indian exams is insane the medical exams the high schoolers of India give they teach that in the last year of University in America because the concept is difficult to understand for a teenager💀 I'm going to give a competitive exam next year tho i hope I do well. Btw love your videos and this topic it is important to discuss these things ❤

In Spain, we don't have that many universities, and the state owned ones have a better reputation, so going to Uni is cheaper here in general compared to the USA or Korea. I'd say quality is not as good (we only have one Uni in the world top 100 and is quite low in the ranking) even though it is really hard to be admitted for specific majors...

@@Dj333catoh wow that’s very interesting. do most students try to go abroad for university?

@siennahong We have the Erasmus program in Europe, so is "easy" to go as an exchange student for 6 months or a year since there is a scholarship for it. I did not do it because I worked part-time and you must have the money in advance because they pay you the scholarship later (usually two-three months after arriving to your destination) and I couldn't save any money for that).

The situation with education is very similar to the one of U.S. We have too many higher education institutions, many are nothing but diploma mills , providing very low quality education , which gives no knowledge in one's major. The same story, parents moving to a wealthy suburbs, if they can afford to get their kids in a decent schools with the name that says it all, hiring private tutors, etc. There is also big pressure of performing well on College entrance exams such as ACT/SAT. The entire future and readiness for your future career depends on the quality of education you get. Either you get a job that is rewarding or flip burgers at McDonald's for the minimum wage .

Great video Sienna, and lovely to see you. Academic pressure is lower in the UK, but so is the achievement. I do think that its too hard in Korea. Not everyone can cope with so much stress.

I've worked with people from a young age myself. When an entire culture and society has bought, so heavily, into such an intense way of living, you can no longer just blame the parents. Do the parents have their responsibilities? Absolutely, but even parents could try their best for their child and the child can still feel the unbelievable pressure from everyone around them, fear falling behind or bullying and such. Korea's leaders shouldn't see those disgusting suicide, depression, and anxiety rates at such young ages (and all ages) and just try to shift the blame. If they don't do anything about it, or just the bare minimum, they're trash people and don't belong in a position of leadership.

No offense but i dont understand why Koreans are working so hard.
The country as a whole is not that big of a factor in the grand scheme of things even with such a dedicated workforce.
It's not even a Top 10 economy in the world. No disrespect to anybody especially Sienna.
