    I don't blame Dubravka for the first goal. I blame the outfield players who thought it was a great idea to give Dubravka the ball under pressure. Absolute madness.

      Was sitting right behind the goal, Dubs was so upset when he couldn't get that , not hus fault at all . Was so upset I just hoped it wouldn't knock him off his game but he went on & shook it off , it was Botman at fault, he should've stopped, thought about it and get that ball down the pitch , it was him who passed back at that moment a foot too far to his left, Dubs right &, had the pitch not been soaked and greasy , well, pretty certain Dubs would've got it, I actually give him a 7.5 , simply for the really, really good saves he DID make. Your wrong Craig , that ball didn't squirm under his arm at all the lad that scored ran on to Botman's pass & simply kicked it on at the same trajectory & it actually passed Dubs at that point 6 to 10 inches from his reach once he skidded !

    When are you going to ask Howe real questions? Hall not playing? Burn again against a fast winger and Howe leaves him out to dry ... again! Our defence and midfield are the slowest in the league and Howe still persists in playing the same way that everyone has now figured out! Zero game management again by Howe, everyone can see it bar him! Not wanting a 6 is now just criminal 😤

    • @Biswajitnag03
      @Biswajitnag03 Před 3 měsíci +12

      Howe has been lucky to get the win against Forest apart from that the team has underperformed massively. You can't always give injuries as an excuse , you have got to be flexible and adjust your team according to the opponents' play style but Howe always puts up the same line up(except for injuries) and comes up with the same rigid formation and tactics. A world class manager always has something up their sleeves , the little nuances that make him and elite manager and I have seen enough of Eddie to say he lacks that. Ever pundit every analyst can see that playing Burn in the current set up without Joelinton exposes the left side for the opposition with pacy wingers but he always puts his stubbornness and favouritism before anything. I would even be happy if he deployed Dummet at LB coz he is a natural LB. He has deliberately kept Tino and Hall on the bench hampering their growth and development. There is a reason why Dn Ashworth doesn't want to work with him I guess. I think if he carries on with his stubbornness and egoitism it's high time the owners replace him and bring Rafa back if possible. I can't see us progress in the right direction under him in the future.

    Eddie is a fantastic tactician and great man manager, but his most glaring flaw is his inability to not pick his favourites. I understand he likes Burn for his aerial dominance but hes getting caught out far too often, to the point now where its obvious the opposition game plan: attack the right, guaranteed goal. Howe seems to be the only one that doesnt realise this

Why doesn’t EH give a chance to Ben Parkinson the lad is a forward. We look so disjointed at the moment. Dreading Arsenal I think we need to chance formation. Tino needs to come in and maybe Lacaselles surely. We looked more solid with Lacaselles in the side.

  • @AdamJHouston
    @AdamJHouston Před 3 měsíci +5

    Regarding the penalty I think, Craig, you're probably not familiar enough with the offside law (and neither are your paid colleagues in the press box apparently). Just because a player is in an offside position that doesn't mean he has committed an offside offence. At the time Trippier played the ball Schar was in an offside position but hadn't committed an offside offence at the time of the shirt pull (the foul), therefore the foul against Schar should have been penalised because it happened before any offside offence took place. It was 100% the correct decision.
    Harsh on Dubravka, if Gerrard can slip and let Demba Ba in it could reasonably happen to anyone. I don't think lot of goalkeepers, Nick Pope included who is notoriously poor at getting down to low shots, would have saved the second goal. He should have been a step further forward on that which would have given him a better chance but other than that there was very little faulting him today.

    • @AdamJHouston
      @AdamJHouston Před 3 měsíci

      If an offside player if fouled before he has committed an offside offence then it's a foul against the defending player-which was the case here. An offside offence is committed only when the player becomes involved in active play-specifically what this means is defined in the IFAB laws of the game which can be read on the FA website. None of the offences listed there had been committed at the time the foul on Schar had been committed, therefore, the foul should have been penalised and the correct decision was made.@@centi1364

    Joe White 6.5 and Bruno 6 is really weird. Bruno made mistakes but did far more than Joe White, who I can't remember doing anything of note. And Fabian Schar deserves much better than a 6, he was literally one of the most creative players on the park with his raking long balls and was not at fault for any of Bournemouth's chances, not goals, but chances. I also don't think Miley was our best player (but had a decent game) when you've mentioned it countless times this season, we had no control because our midfield had no control. Bournemouth could easily have won that game and it was because they won the midfield battle.
    The rest of the ratings are there or thereabouts, Botman had a difficult game while Burn struggled without help. Upfront, we lack creativity. A lot of our goals recently have been from set pieces but when your most creative players are a CB, RB and DM, it says everything about the team. I think CL is gone, just hope we can get a European spot as it would help build our coefficient.

    I have idea suggestion for Merit marks Craig. If your going to rate the whole team now, why not use the merit mark as a single gold star (rather than 3,2,1) for a moment of the match from one of our players. It could be a last ditch tackle, a defence splitting pass, a piece of skill to get out of a tight spot or a goal line clearance. “The Merit Moment of the match” this could be especially useful for players who overall don’t score high but had one moment of brilliance. You could of course do 3 Merit marks of these but might be overkill now your rating the whole team. Finally I think DB needs rested for a couple of games or maybe come in for Schar if he misses Arsenal through (yet another) injury. Love the channel I hope we can cause an upset on Saturday. We miss JL7 so much who was a focus point in that Arsenal VAR decision.

    “Interesting times! May you never live on interesting times!”
    Good summary mr Husky.
    One thing. Would say is that Dan Burn is in the ‘damned if does and damned if he doesn’t’ category now. Their second goal was very good! We do need to bear that in mind. Dan Burn did everything right. If he’d gone in and been skinned then he’d be getting roared at for that. He stood off and the guy scores a very, very good goal. Dubravka maybe should be getting a paw on it imo. Not BDBs fault though. Perhaps a moot point if Fabs in out and Dan goes back to cb.
    Five gets you ten we get a result at the Gooners! They’ve got, what, 11 goals in two games? They have a grudge against us! We’ll get something because as the Bournemouth games shows no matter how much science you seem to put in to this game there’s always this chaos factor. Bournemouth should not perform against us yet the Eddie Howe thing adds chaos and who gets the equaliser? See…..chaos. Two all next Saturday:)

    Gordon looked so much more effective on the left, Barnes did well considering and Almiron can’t fault the work rate but no quality. Of note Almiron actually crossed the ball once from the right!
    Burn gives everything, but against pace as left back, teams are targeting this area.

    Cheers Craig. Honest as ever. So for me. Burn needs to come out 100%, we have said it for so long now. no striker and no clue basically in attack, midfield easy to play through again. Just doesn’t work with the current 3. Bruno for me too slow and always caught on the ball. I would cash in tbh there isn’t enough there for me with him that Tonali couldn’t do when back. Defence all over and botman looks slow and out of position now, keeper 2 good saves but 2 bad mistakes also. This is it until end of the season so buckle up and see where we get to.
    Wilson news just adds to the mess. Not saying get rid but he must be 3rd or 4th choice next season. We need 2 strikers in the summer. As for Arsenal if Liv doesn’t come in then Howe is writing his own p45 !!

    What happened yesterday was the referee lost control of the game. Miggy and Bruno nearly got injured because yellow cards weren’t produced prior, when we made a mistake and gifted a Bournemouth goal then the referee decided he had to then start “balancing” it out and that penalty doesn’t even get looked at and it’s a different game if the referee controlled the first half correctly.
    The standard of officiating is the underlying issue in this entire league and until it changes this is how it will be. There is no consistency.

    Is Eddie Howe deliberately trying to get himself sacked? Because this is getting silly now.
    I like most fans really want him to succeed but he also has to help himself too.
    However, continuously wedding himself to a formation when he doesn't have the personnel is suicidal.
    There are plenty of other formations and tactics he could use with the squad that IS available (including Parkinson/Diallo etc)
    He needs to demonstrate he has some additional ideas now.
    On the Hall thing: we'd be mad to let him go as he will turn into a brilliant left sided midfielder a la Gary Speed .
    On the Burn issue: I know no one who blames Burn for this. They are upset with Howe for hanging him out to dry.

  • @BATC98

    Play fab in the same role as pep plays stones. It allows for a defender to step out and plug that gap. Botman schar and burn with trips and Tino will help make up for the lack of a centre forward who can hold the ball up and allow the press to stay high. As even with Isak back he doesn’t and can’t hold the ball up and it’s to easy to by pass the midfield when the opposition win the second ball.

  • @joshualogan-ross5430
    @joshualogan-ross5430 Před 3 měsíci

    It's came to the point where howe is going to have to be bold.
    Play the likes of livramemto or lewis hall at left back who are more attacking inclined. But that extra pace can help cover the targeted weakness by every opposition at the moment. Saka will have a field day against burn with the way he is playing at the moment.
    There are however various reasons why our team isn't as solid defensively and isn't as effective in attacking terms.
    And the biggest issue is the lack of Joelinton, he honestly plays like 2 players in one position at times. The ground he covers up and down that left side of the middle 3 is actually ridiculous and it goes under the radar with so many, he is always up the pitch in attacking areas when the team is, offering himself to the forward players, and whenever we're under the cosh he is sprinting back to help cover that left hand side. And he doesn't just cover the ground, he seriously applies himself and piles pressure and commits players, yes he can often be clumsy in this and make a foul or be done by skill, but more often than not, he is there, breaking up play, slowing opposition down and winning the ball back before they even get to the defensive line.
    He wins all his headers in the middle of the park, he is never bullied due to his dominating presence and he always makes himself available, wanting the ball, creating space for himself to help the team.
    Then when he has the ball, he has pace, power and decent dribbling ability to carry the ball and the team up the pitch, lay it off to Gordon, Bruno, the striker and then move again for the teams needs. He is by far newcastles most influential and probably our best player for this team. He may not be as good technically as a Bruno or isak etc. But his overall play is essential. And it's such a shame he is missing from this midfield right now. We have to pray a contract is sorted with him because without him our midfield is very flat, one dimensional, and predictable.
    The current 3 are all good players in their own right, but they don't work together, Bruno is a brilliant player with technical ability and will fight for everything, lacks a lot of pace, longstaff covers ground a lot, but is poor on possession, and loses the ball so much due to his inability to protect the ball and have that centre of gravity to hold his own under pressure, miley although again, is a great player and will be a great player is technically sound, very similar to a Michael Carrick style player in the making, but lacks pace, and defensive understanding when we lose possession, again doesn't do enough with the ball creatively in this midfield.
    The big thing missing is pace, and the ability to carry us up the pitch and create a chance in the final third, aswell as the pace and ability to chase back and win the ball back for us in defensive actions.
    It doesn't function as a 3.
    The lack of a striker is horrible too, we need to actually use a striker, if it's an under 21 player, so be it, at least it will be a player who is understanding of that position naturally and will be in and around the box for any chances. Gordon is brilliant but he is wasted as a striker. Get the next available striker, Ben parkinson or whoever is available in that position whilst it's available. We waste so much time and effort playing our better players out of position. We have no focal point at the top end, and nobody who really, truly understands that position currently.
    The likelihood of these changes vs Arsenal is unlikely, but there has to be a time to change and force a new process, it may create a few waves initially, but burn needs the break as much as newcastle do from him at left back. Use the players available who will Combat the attributes of Saka better next week, Hall/livramemto.
    And I agree, use Joe white more where necessary in that midfield to offer something different and even rotate to allow for a freshen up at times.
    Almiron has been horrendous for too long now to keep warranting a place in the starting lineup.
    He always plays better after he is dropped and gets the hunger to Fight back.
    I'd be happy to see Gordon and Barnes as wingers with Parkinson up top.
    Or Murphy in for almiron if we are going to Persist with playing Gordon up top whilst strikers are injured. Almiron from the bench can run around for the last 20mims of a game and can do something with that energy but for now he needs to be out of the team as he currently offers no threat in the final Third and not enough in possession to warrant starting for a newcastle first 11.
    I wouldn't get played in Sunday league if I lost the ball whenever I had it at my feet, and whenever I got the ball in the final third I turned around and passed it back or sideways, whilst also not scoring or creating chances for a period of time. I'd be straight on the bench until I gained form and hunger back.
    So let's drop almiron and give someone else the break to have a go.
    Great content as always Craig.
    Agree with player ratings fully.
    The only Positive is that we aren't losing at the moment, the flip side of that is we aren't doing enough to win games and we have arsenal next week in rampant form 😂 we need to hope the players and howe step things up otherwise we have no chance.

    I also didnt know that, but it makes sense - penalty was correct decision. Because he was fouled before attempting to play the ball.
    From IFAB rules, 11.2 offside offence:
    In situations where:
    a player in an offside position is moving towards the ball with the intention of playing the ball and is fouled before playing or attempting to play the ball, or challenging an opponent for the ball, the foul is penalised as it has occurred before the offside offence
    If the ball went out to Schar rightaway, so that he would attempted to play the ball, it would have been offside.
    an offence is committed against a player in an offside position who is already playing or attempting to play the ball, or challenging an opponent for the ball, the offside offence is penalised as it has occurred before the foul challenge

Not only does he wait till we concede at least 1 goal before making changes, he can see threats and chances unfolding in front of him and he does nothing. See and smell the danger Eddie and do something before it damages the team and then its a recovery job. Also, massive questions to be asked about what is taking place on the training pitch regarding finishing. Almiron, Murphy and Gordon have been horrendous in front of goal, several for years. Conversion rates and shots on target are terrible when comparing with wide players from other comparable teams. Not good enough, are there any other teams in the league whose centreback has more goals than a front man who starts 90% of games??
