We've got Bruno in the middle but my GOD do we miss Big Joe.
100%. Keeps everyone out of trouble
If Newcastle want to go to the next level they need better players than Joelinton. He isn't top class.
Fukn el we have been through a bad patch sitting 7th and still in FA cup, in two weeks we could have Isak Anderson & Willock back and improving form breaths confidence for better performances.. We know what this team can do back the ffukn lads
Both sides of the Dan Burn debate were proven right yesterday. The goal exposed his lack of pace to that pass but he had a very good game afterwards and therefore it's easy to see why Eddie would want to show to the player that he has faith in him. Good man management by Howe.
We lack energy in midfield, our forward play is too slow at times, too predictable. But it's a big 3 points and we have to be grateful for that.
Yes, I agree. He makes that block in stoppage-time that protects the points. He did the same at Villa repeatedly early on. He's good at reading danger. For the Elanga goal, I also feel it was a collective - midfield + Burn + Botman + Dubravka.
@@craighope_dailymail
Yep, too easy to blame one individual but I expect there was a collective sinking feeling when that goal was scored given it was exactly the scenario people were predicting would happen. Unfortunately people are always gonna point to that lack of pace every time we concede a similar goal but the fact is, not many players would keep up with Alenga anyway.
@@craighope_dailymailat the risk of sounding like Roy Keane - why give defenders credit for blocking crosses or shots? It's what they're paid to do lol
DB can't play when we have a midfield that are too slow in defensive transition. It leave him isolated, where there is no big joe to protect DB
I think Howe’s knows this hence formation switch. Now, did it work? Not so sure… we controlled possession without controlling the game after about 15. I personally would have Tino in for Burn and revert Burn to cover CB (and LB when needed). Burn is a quality player but without big Joe in front of him his lack of pace is exposed. He is a unique player and offers a lot when we switch to 3 at back. It’s not a straight forward call although as I said I’d be playing Tino (or Hall, remember him) when we can’t protect from midfield. However, this isn’t Howe playing his favourites… he thinks BDB on pitch gives us something extra (and he was right last season) but he’s realised in a 433 without Joe it doesn’t work. Will be interesting to see what Howe thought of yesterday when he reviews it and if he perseveres or makes the call to bring Tino in.
@@michaelmckie9164Joelinton saved Dan burn 100s of time's last season.
I don’t know whether all this criticism is because Newcastle fans are just not used to watching a good team (since Robson/Keegan days anyway) and think that every game they should be wiping out teams. I remember the Man Utd team winning the title with about eight 1-0 wins usually scored by a bit of individual brilliance from cantona and shmichael and everyone else just making up the numbers. Come on stop being so negative, they’ve started winning games again and picking up points and look good for a top 7 finish May be top 6 who knows. They’ll improve next year and May be the year after and won’t be fighting relegation. Reality check needed I think.
@@deanharding740 On about Dan burn mate, we have been injurie ravaged. But We have lost 15 point's through Dan burn this season and still 7th unbelievable really tbh.
@deanharding740 The mention is about Burn being a liability when there is no pace in the midfield and we're getting caught on counters, and Burn is getting left isolated.
Why are you talking about keegan and 1 nil wins?
I agree that the first Forest goal was not entirely down to Dan Burn. Yes, he got caught and bears responsibility but there’s a huge hole in the midfield that creates the problem. Not sure what Dubravka was doing either.
I think once again you've hit the nail on the head craig. We are consistently inconsistent & it makes it very difficult to know what we are going to get from one game to the next. I'm still baffled by the decision to play dan burn against elanga again today albeit you say he made a crucial tackle towards the end. However i'm beginning to worry that there is an air of stubbornness in eddie howe's selections. It feels like we got away with playing dan today rather than it being a great call by eddie. But we bag the points & we move on. Let’s see what we get on the toon wheel of fortune next weekend. Cheers as always craig.
Yup, feels like we're riding our luck too often. It's odd, considering how poor our away form has been, how conflicted I feel about this away win. Realistically, a better team would have punished us, but regardless, there are positives to take from it as well, and 3 points are 3 points and we'll go again next week.
Thanks Monty. I think with Burn it has to be a horses for courses approach now - up against Elanga was perhaps asking for trouble, and it duly arrived...
Wilson has a ruffled shirt injury! Three weeks out🤣
That man is a complete waste of space along with the other character who should have left in Almiron.
Miggy was absolute garbage again last night being neither use nor ornament, something has to be done about those two this summer!
Not a pen, otherwise we should just make football a non contact sport. Botman touched the ball away and the Forest player ran into Dubs
yeah it wouldve been a very light pen at least. Their player was mid falling over on his own and colliding with dubs just finished the job.
Definitely a pen lol
Not a penalty, the Forest player initiated the contact.
If that pen decision was against us we would all be saying it was a pen. Makes no difference that the attacker was looking for it. Dubravka put his arm up and there was contact.
Not a penalty in my opinion: irrelevant whether Dubs was raising his arm or not as the Notts. Forest player contacted his armpit which would have been the same whether the arm raised or not. He also came across the line the ball was travelling to contact Dubs. The referee, although not ideally placed, gave the right decision; it can't always be a penalty because a player runs into a goalkeeper. Unfortunately you just know if circumstances had been that VAR had called the referee to the monitor then it would have been given.
Good to see Bruno play as a 10 he should play there more often but we would need to work on the number 6 cover. Harvey looked really good when he came on
Always my first post match video to watch even it's not often the first posted. Not sure we are inconsistent at the moment as our recent results would say we have improved in form. We just seem to be able to score and be defensively frail at the same time. That's due to somewhat of a lightweight midfield and a slow defence. Tonight showed more than ever why we need a 6. One for the defensive cover and 2 Bruno is further up-the pitich and he can show his class.
Thanks Peter. This one went live at 1am this time, I hope you didn't have alerts on!
The glaringly obvious we need sort out our midfield to defense gaps. However we don’t have the quickest three in midfield. Big Joe is a huge miss atm.
We don’t have anyone else available at the moment though. The midfield 3 are it.
That's the big problem. It's the midfield plus Burn and Trippier have made over 20 errors in the past two months and Botman has been poor. Only Schar and Dubravka have been outstanding
Good win, bring on the next one. Done lads.
Eventually Bruno will be playing forward. I'm sure these fellas are being coached to rotate and sit to cover the highline. Definitely need a legit #6. Somewhat of a headscratcher we don't see Tino somewhere. There are at least 3 in the starting 11 I feel he is loads better from what I've seen so far. I'm happy when Bruno is happy.
I've always preferred Bruno as an 8. He can score goals, evidenced by his first season.
@@craighope_dailymail Maybe you were at St Mary's as I was a couple years ago against Southampton. I was with diehard Southampton friends in Southampton as we have so many ties. Can't think of a club more history between players as Southampton and Newcastle. I knew Bruno was special that game. I knew he needed to be forward. He's an absolute wizard around the box.
Its 1 am for Gods sake Craig! Lol. Cracking vid as usual mate. I must say..we are the new Entertainers but its stressful as anything man. Its not that easy watching the Toon these days. Im off to sleep. Good night best journo in Gosforth and England. HWTL
Apologies for the late post, blame train wi-fi!!
To answer your question craig we did put on a 90 minutes performance against Aston Villa away.
Yes, less than two weeks ago! But you get my point, I hope...
“I don’t want to sound negative but …“ must be your most used phrase this season, Craig. That says a lot …
Longstaff and Milley gave the ball away then we are way out of position,BDB wasn’t at fault and can’t be blamed all the time, we have a weak midfield 😮
If that penalty was given there would be no complaints, it was a 50/50 decision. Bruno was incredible not just the goals but controlled elements throughout. Burn second half positioned deeper so was not as exposed, I like BDB as a CB but Howediola needs to Nott play him as LB, not players fault.
You're not listening to what a lot of fans are saying about BDB, Craig. For sure there are some dullards whining their keks off about DBD the player, but I get the impression most of us are more concerned about the way BDB is being used, rather than the player himself and all the good things he brings to the team. You've just applauded him for something he did in the 94th(?) minute when we had another player on the park at left-back. Something else you alluded to is what this must be doing to his head. I'll suggest to you that Eddie Howe's insistence on playing him at left-back against teams with pace to burn, is doing the lad's head in. He doesn't need that and neither does the team. Eddie Howe's lack of flexibility is the issue here and I suspect that because you think that the sun shines out of Eddie's backside, you're not the journalist who is ever going to have the courage to tackle him about it. Are you?
Interesting.
I think one of the problems Eddie Howe has is that he doesn’t particularly want to disclose to other managers his thinking about tactics and why should he?! He picks Dan, I think, because he has bags of experience, does exactly what he is instructed, is huge and un-intimidateable and works well in - for the most part in the ‘three at the back out of possession’ formation w we use. He also picks him because he sets a very specific tone in the dressing room ie this is our club and you will die for them, right? I ran youth teams for over 20 years. I remember having these two excellent players but we played better without them ‘cos they were popular and influential kids and they saw it all as a bit of a laugh on a Sunday morning and got them out of church. The lad I made captain was a very average footballer but he lived for the game on Sunday and was able to set the tone of the team to match his attitude. And I think that’s BDBs ‘secret sauce’. He sets the tone (along with some of the others, of course). Also, it’s our team that expose the defence to a counter attack. Some people need to pick up,a coaching manual , open the index and go look up “consecutive errors”. If Tino had started the match held have still been second best in a leg race with Elanga. Possession was given away in the Forrest right hand side corner and no one was minding the half space on our right which is where the ball was played ( extremely well) from. To be honest, I’m more concerned about the stupid free kicks and penalties he gives away than his ‘lack of pace’.
I think Craig can be too self congratulatory at times, emphasising things he alluded to earlier and pairing them as expert analysis (and he probably has to do this to a degree - this is the Mail we’re talking about here) He also, like to present himself as the tough journo who asks the difficult and tough questions despite the consequences which I’ve seen exactly zero evidence of in this regime (partly because there hasn’t really been any such is the way the club is being run by actual grown ups and Craig sure as shinola ain’t gonna bring up the whole Saudi regime issue) Sure, he was unpopular with Steve Bruce bits that’s like Neville Chamberlain saying ‘don’t forget who unpopular I was with Hitler.’
I agree 100%!
What Eddie says in the post match interview makes me wonder though, "we have to learn of our mistakes and flaws". Well, when is HE going to learn? DB is a CB, not a LB! Our shocking deffence record says it all.. Makes me wonder what the owners are thinking. Why on earth are they going to pay top dollars for new players, when the manager refues to play them, ie Livramento and Hall.. Theese are errors managers like Guardiola doesn't make. The main reason for our inconsistent form.
I'm concerned that Eddie's loyalty towards DB will in the long run cost us (even more) and his job eventually. As much as I love Eddie, I'm starting to believe that he's not the man to take us to the next step.
You are spot on
Howe’s lack of flexibility? Did you watch the game… we started a 4231 out of possession and a 3241 in possession. Now, did it work? Not so sure… we controlled possession without controlling the game after about 15. He is trying things out so I wouldn’t say it’s that. Will be interesting to see what Howe thought of yesterday when he reviews it.
@@geordiedog1749well said mate, too many people here thinking it's Football Manager, also not many realising that Trips having the most assists this season is partly down to Burn being able to tuck in as 3rd CB when he pushes forward
“I don’t wanna sound negative”
Sure you don’t 👍
Brilliant post match summary I agree with everything you said
Thanks Steven!
Great win but missing Joelinton and Tonali to control games
Tonali has pace. He plays like a dog. Not been impressed with his passing and positioning though
Dan Burn is not the future of newcastles left back position, he knows it, Eddie knows it and we know it. Give him his last season and appreciate what he has done since joining. Do i panic when hes playing against pace? Yes. Do i call for his head or Eddies? No becasue 5 years from now we will be challenging for the title and im patient and looking forward to it.
Such a good reporter. Love to listen to his take on the games
Thanks Andy.
Well said
Great report Craig. Do you have any idea where we can watch Eddie’s post-match press conference as it’s normally out on youtube channels by now but can’t find it?
Not sure on that one, it usually appears on here post match.
Great vid as always, felt it was a little unfair on Dan Burn for the goal as Elanga outpaced both defenders, feel like he’s being targeted and it must be having an effect on his confidence. Maybe we should back him instead of putting more pressure on him.
I love BDB but he’s also being targeted by opposition managers putting a quick winger up against him. He struggled against Bailey when Villa brought him on, obviously struggled last week against Luton and again last night. In a couple of weeks we have Arsenal away who will definitely target him. I’d bring in Tino to give him a full game against Bournemouth and get his confidence up with a view to play against Arsenal.
I would agree on that; if you watch the goal you see that Elanga has a running start on Burn, which enables him to go past him, but after that in the chase Burn actually keeps up with him. It is a matter of technique and anticipation with Burn. The attacker is anticipating the through ball and sets off, Burn reacts too slowly to the pass and the players movement, Botman the same. Sometimes Burn is caught too square on. I think he is surprisingly quick for a big man.
Agree, 100% @apb3440
When we doing the Jesmond walk n talk? Love your work. HWTL 🎉
Jesmond Dene before end of season, I promise.
I don't think it was a penalty but when they showed a different angle on VAR I was thinking the refs is going to have a look at that and give a pen. I was amazed that it didn't happen.
Good result but all the negatives are very well highlighted by Craig. The midfield goes absent on the press ie no body seems to stay back for the cut out ball and noneofthem have any speed. Hopefully Tonali has speed, it’s so long since he played I’ve forgotten. Felt sorry for BDB but he dug in and put in a good shift. He is a very good disrupter in the opponents box, don’t think Tino has that to give to the team. Don’t think we are far from be8ng very good again, hurry back Isak as Callum was pretty ineffective tonight.
Excellent analysis.
Thank you!
always look forward to craig after match comments hard not to agree with him but lets all of us back dan burn pound for pound he has been a excellant signing plus he is a true geordie we all need to look our own
Every time Bruno scores I wonder if it'll be his last goal before he gets a move to a big club. Always a bitter-sweet moment.
True, but his reaction and celebration after every goal , and not just the ones he scores, should calm your nerves as it shows how passionate he feels about the club and the connection with the fans. Yes Madrid or Barca might come knocking, but realistically he won't be adored or loved like the Geordies show him. He can become a great player at Madrid, or become a legend at Newcastle.
@@Steezen29 I don't think he really fits what Real Madrid are doing and it sounds like Barcelona don't have the money. More likely Arsenal, Man U or Liverpool or maybe PSG or Bayern if he moves overseas. Chelsea also a candidate if they can offload some academy players for big fees.
@@listeyI don't think Newcastle will sell him to PL.
@@markbowman8295 ideally not of course, but if a bid matches/exceeds his minimum fee release clause then they can't prevent it
Guimaraes would transform Liverpool
I think the 1 star should have gone to Schär for an expert finish when we really needed it. Wilson getting injured over an unnecessary wrestling match is absolutely stupid. I agree with you, this match had absolutely zero control. The manager clearly led everyone to believe Gordon would not be involved. It is embarrassing really. There is no advantage to be gained by such antics. Teams prepare for every eventuality these days. They are not just going to throw their plans away based on what the opposing manager says on the press conference.
The whole team is disjointed and lacks cohesion. Dan Burn got roasted today too and it was coming. The fans pointed out how quick Forrest were, and it seems only the manager did not believe such analysis. Everyone else was covering their eyes in horror. Very poor start in the 2nd half again. No subs at half time, no one stepping up to take responsibility. Goal keeper is not sure how to command his box and we get in trouble again when the ball is played behind the defence. If the penalty was given we could hardly complain.
I will say this, Big Dan Burn did not lose his head despite the mistake. He did okay once we went to 3 CBs and he defended the box well on the late onslaught from Forrest. The team is not convincing at all but Bruno did put in a 3 star performance. Let us hope they can build on this.
On the pen, it would have been a very soft one, but in the context of what's been given this year, I expected VAR to say pen.
No doubt Nuno didn't discuss the stamp on Schar or the various wrestling moments at Newcastle corners that could easily have been penalties too.
Talking about being inconsistent, going into that game we had the worst defence in the league in the last 9 games (since pope got injured). Sky sports spoke about it before the game. For me, it's down to dubravka not being a sweeper keeper so he won't prevent some goals that pope did. But more importantly our midfield is really leaky with this current combination. During the post match review the pundits ripped into Miley and longstaff for forests goals not being in the correct positions.
Miley really needs someone around him who can guide him through the match, he hasn't got the experience or the awareness yet at this level, not a dig at the lad cos he will get there soon. Longstaff is a funny one, he plays like an attacking midfielder who's been asked to play out of position at times, quite lightweight and struggles to recover. We desperately need Willock back to help take the pressure off
Pope is a liability when he comes out of his goal
Hello from the phi phi islands. Could not agree more with your match report. We just can’t seem to relax watching Newcastle lol. Massive performance from Bruno as well as Jason Tindle for conjuring up that first goal.

Great video Craig. Interesting game to review my take was Burn again got caught but not all his fault but he made up with lots of extra cover in defence i though . Bruno definitely more effective further forward Tripps dropping in to a 6 at times but we lost his runs down the right. Light in midfield and Gordon does not look the same on the right. But we won
Gordon is nowhere near as good as Almiron
You're commentary of the event was somewhat clearer than the event itself .. but like you say, Eddie changed the tactics and even the Toon Review guys said we were controlling the game having scored only to concede and drop off a bit .. great win in that sometimes to build form you have to go through some patchy games like yesterday before you develop some form and with the return of Joe Willock and Elliot Anderson on the near horizon that can only further enhance the group's performance, maybe young Miley can be taken out and given the keys to the city ... he's surely earned them ... Howe Way the lads
Got to say, summed up pretty much on the money, we blew hot n cold but tons of effort, and a lovely three points in the end.
Cheers Davey!
Bruno, Trippier and Gordon are the only players who can look them self in the mirror and the proud of their performance. The rest were bang avarage today.
Gordon had a poor game.
Barnes came on a did damn well, not to mention Fabian

Your match reviews are *NEVER boring Graig. So, *yes, it was entertaining. Nufc Fan's outstanding again. Imo, Burn should never have started ! Tino Livremento should have started all day, especially given last week. *Inconsistent United. But a wins, a win. Which we needed.
Cheers, Graig.....
I wonder if part of the reason he plays Burn is to make teams more predictable in their approach against us, i.e. we know they will try and attack that side more so we can try and prevent it before it gets near that side of the pitch, problem is it relies on players higher up having good awareness of whats behind them and we are a bit short of options in midfield at the minute in that regard.
The reason he is playing BDB is because he is stubborn and thinks he will show us he won't cave to criticism. He is not reading social media according to himself but he also thinks he is getting slaughtered which is quite accurate. Playing an obvious weakness against the fastest wingers is a recipe for disaster. This is no 5D chess. Our midfield 3 get bypassed so often, our keeper is nervous as hell and does not know if he wants to come out or retreat to the very edge of the goal line, it is absolute chaos. I wish he simply picks Tino and be done with it.
@@Nienna1837 "absolute chaos" when we've won 4 away games on the bounce, and sit 7th in the league? A little perspective needed maybe...
your suggestion of going 3-4-3 looks a good shout Craig. Dan Burn as a third centre half with Tino at Left Wing back looks a lot safer especially when up against pace. Tino is class and must be wondering why he lost his place in the starting 11.
I struggle to understand why you want Bruno to ‘dominate a whole game’? What player in history has ever done this outside of a few rare occasions. Zidane/Keane/Robson almost never dominated a whole game. Isolate even their best performances and you’ll find that it’s ’moments’.
Best time to judge the team is when Livramento is a regular starter, and the midfield consists of Bruno, Tonali and Onana (if Big Joe leaves). Also see what Howe does in regards to the sales of Wilson and Almiron. Will he sign the likes of Solanke? The fans deserve better.
You think Bruno stays? I hope you are right. If Bruno stays I think big Joe does, if not I think they both go.
He'd spend £250m on Solanke, Kalvin Phillips, Tyrone Mings, Gibbs White and Lloyd Kelly

Hi,thanks to Ur videos. Nowadays I am so disappointed that Lewis hall still has few chances for several games, even though Newcastle United paid for £30. Why Eddie Howe doesn't give chance to Lewis hall by £30????
Liked Trippier playing in front of back 3. Sometimes playing 3,5,2, then Bruno is allowed freedom going forward.

He's a Championship player at best. Not good enough. Too slow and weak
2 most ridiculous comments I've seen today fellas.
Mileys class end ov
Miggy was shite... would of liked to see Murphy play and don't know the reason why he didn't get some minutes.
Even coming on for Gordon, who looked shattered when he eventually did come off.
The highs and lows of the Forest game, the moments of brilliance and the inability to hold a lead, mirror the last 60 years of supporting Newcastle. Injuries and the loss of Tonali have made it a frustrating season. We have leaked too many goals, the makeshift midfield have done their best but our defence has been left far too open at times.
Buy a 6
Play Bruno further forward
It’s not rocket science
We’re getting there. 🙌🏼
Fully entertaining, not good for the the high blood pressure brigade but no pain, no gain, Almiron and Wilson contributions non exisitent against Notts Forest, which does not bode well for the future. Miley, for all the plaudits, he has no defensive aggressiveness, you ever seen him take the ball back yet? Midfield is where we have won and lost this season. Bruno G, parabens (Brasileiro for congratulations) for his performance, great first goal just worry he is getting closer to the 10 yellows and two match ban because without him we would be seriously impaired 😢
It was clearBurn wasn’t going to beat Elanga, but Botman could have done more
Nufc are currently the leagues top scorers... what an up down season. Bring on thr next game #nufc
Schar should definitely have been up there in the merit stars. Not just for the goal, but he was the main passer with no Bruno sitting deep. He was the one providing the outlet balls (usually long to Gordon) or carrying it himself. Meanwhile, all the defensive frailties came from the left i.e. Burn/ Botman side. In many ways, Schar did even better than Bruno because Bruno lost it a few times in midfield dangerously.
A good 3 points but not a dominating performance. I agree Craig - our current formation doesn't lend itself to midfield control nor protecting Dan Burn.
Not a "clear" penalty imo I think Awoniyi was looking for the connection with Dubravka and had overrun the ball anyway - glad the ref didn't give it.
Craig, how about a walk around Jesmond Dene
Absolutely. It’s on my list. And high. Love that place.
7 from 9 in the last 3 games and so much negativity and in depth analysis of Eddie and the lads…but hardly anything on the opposing managers and teams… the moan brigade can suck the atmosphere out of the stadium when it gets into gear ….for me the loss of Nick Pope should never be underestimated, even tho Dubravka has done better than expected…..still in the cup and still heading in the right direction.
Agree
When you watch the match you can see the defensive frailties that ultimately cost Bournemouth their place in the premiership and Howe should be thankful that there are team’s below them who are really poor this season otherwise Newcastle could have been in trouble and is Howe the person moving forward to resolve these issues?
Utter bollocks 👍🏻
Dear Craig,
Canny video as always👍
Score prediction:5-0 the Toon👍✊🤘👏😎😁
Regards,
Last season was inspiring. But we need to build on that. Currently, aspiring to the highest levels, the team just isn't up to it
We are desperately missing Willock and Joelinton, with so many injuries it feels we are so disjointed Craig and its having an effect throughout the team. Thought the lads fought out the victory really well. However another brilliant Bruno performance which was outstanding. For his 3rd goal Wilson was calling for that ball but Bruno was having none of it. The injury to Wilson's arm was caused by a Nottingham Forest player grabbing him and pulling him back, nothing given from the ref. Is that not a foul these days?
Always enjoy your match reports Craig, cheers mate👍🖤🤍
The first goal was down to Almiron needlessly giving the ball away at the other end of the pitch under no pressure…. For the 10000000th time
I felt a bit bad for him when the club and fans were trying to convince him to go to Saudi but he’s honestly awful
On to the next one! HWTL
I think you might be being, just a little bit harsh. Just a little bit mind.
My take it that, Eddies style works primarily on 2 things. Intensity and belief. With players returning so is the intensity, and we need to slowly build confidence.
We've actually won 4 in the last 6 in all comps. But our confidence and intensity had fallen so so far it will take a long time to return. I oredict well see us get stronger over this month and then a stereotypical howe run of form in the last 10-12 games. I think well win another 10 games and finish in europa league
I do like your assessment, but I think that the ‘control’ had improved on the Luton game. We saw the game out well at 3-2 and some clever tactics.
I think you were a bit overly negative on the performance. This is away from home in the prem, it’s never going to be easy. Forrest aren’t scrubs, they are a reasonable team.
Maybe there was more control at 3-2, I agree. But they still needed to take the lead three times to beat an average team. More control needed over 90 mins, not 25.
@@craighope_dailymail thanks for replying, always like your content
Incremental improvements. Just need to build and build
Our performaces are going to be the same until willick comes back i think, because i think our main problem is our midfield. As much as i like Miley, hes just far too young and makes too many mistakes at the minute, not his fault at all. He would do better if he was playing alongside a better midfielder instead of Longstaff
Craig please ask Eddie for an update on Pope’s fitness. We’ve been so exposed since his injury. Dubravka hasn’t got any natural awareness of when he should be coming out for the ball
The penalty decision was like an umpires' call in cricket and VAR was always going to go with the on field ruling
As with Scotland’s try yesterday. On field was ‘no try’ and the TMO evidence was not clear enough to overturn it. (Even though it was 😄) #HTL
I agree, Paul.
Dan Burn is class at what he does as a centre half but he’s being hung out to dry by Eddie Howe being played against fast wingers. I really hope we can see Dan as cover for Botman instead of being a left back for his own sake
All so mixed at the min. Positives were obviously Bruno, Trippier looking back to normal and Barnes is obviously so much of a better player than Almiron. Negatives, the usual issues in midfield and lack of pace/hesitancy at the back. Another thing though and to be fair to forest, I'm surprised they are down where they are. They have some very decent players. Gibbs-White, Elanga and Williams all look good and id take any of them at Newcastle
Gibbs Shyte. Williams isn't good enough. I'd take Murillo from Forest
@@BrianPinas9 what game was you watching ?
The first goal was a Dubravka howler. He was in no mans land. wtf was he thinking?
Not saying it’s perfect but 5 points off last season doesn’t seam too bad plus deploying different tactics was cool
I predicted 3-3 before the game. Glad we won...
Yeah that was lucky, cld have gone either way. Have to tighten up at the back, which means changing the midfield
Their defender early pulled Callum’s arm off
Lots of trolls in these comments not even newcastle fans
Do you think it’s hard position for Almiron when the club want to sell him in January, keep him basically to sell him in summer,it puts him in a difficult position,it must prey on your mind
Wow Craig , you give one star to Sean Longstaff because he did OK . He did OK against a midfield that could get relegated, a team that are potentially a championship side and He did OK .
Who would you have ahead?
@@craighope_dailymail I live in York , so only watch on tv or follow on radio , to get a honest game review I always wait for your report , love it , the concerning thing is after 2 players the other 9 were only ok or less.
I thought it was a really poor performance and I don’t think I would have given a 1 star to anyone . I was at the Man City game , my grandson for Christmas bought us a platinum ticket £360.00 plus train and hotel and it was shocking value. Keep up the good work.
Burn is in the side too keep our aerial threat there , which in turn opened up Bruno for the first goal.
Not sure many people would keep up with their wingers pace.
You know what's mental you say that, but he's like 7ft but only scored 4 headers in his career 🙄
@chriscummings1279 I wonder how many others goals r scored by others though from crosses and corners etc
@@joinmeonthedarkside2 our Centre backs etc do that perfectly as seen yesterday with Botman, our team is huge probably the tallest in the league. Facts are Dan is killing us every single game, team's are targeting all the time. He made Chris wood look like Messi at home aswel 🤯
@chriscummings1279 I think Chris Wood had a point to prove that day
You see burn block at the end ? Great effort from bdb
@@joinmeonthedarkside2 The block is standard stuff, i don't even know who you are but you would put a block in.
horses for courses...
dan burn is a HUGE asset to nufc... but against express pace, he is a liability...
so what to do? use the squad, play tino...
HORSES FOR COURSES. USE THE SQUAD.
Ok let’s start with BDB. Had a warning and then they scored, yes his man and no pace to keep up but botman and the keeper weren’t great either. It’s the whole
Defence that looks shaky. Conceding far too many goals. The pen claim I didn’t think was a pen but have seen them given, he lost control, lost balance and was looking for it. But how a ball straight down the middle from the keeper got through shows how bad our defence is currently. Should never happen !!
Their first we had all 3 midfielders up front and no protection again, simple pass out destroyed us. We need one to hold back, surely they can think that in the field at the time.
Took our goals well and eventually went 5 at the back which helped also. It’s a win and we move on. We are getting better but last 14 games we should be winning most I think. Hope to make Europe and would take 6th now if you offered it to me.
Not a pen for me. Botman gets a touch. The guys already falling and the contact with the goalkeeper? Dubravkas arm bounces of the ground. Its not an unatural movement intentionally towards the player. Wheres his bloody arm supposed to be. Is it supposed to just not exist because he's on a football pitch? Horrow show defending mind. We got lucky again several times today.
Are you a 'supporter' on your days off Craig?
To be fair BDB looks like he still yard slow as I believe Botman is .Lovely to Eddie celebrating with the Fans.
Football is his Life No one cares more than him or works harder even when unwell.⚽️🌑
Néed to sell both in the summer. Sign Murillo from Forest
Wilson don’t look fit midfielders give the ball away to easy though it was a penalty barnes look good lucky today but happy they won 😮
Today shows Eddie was right with his selection and tactics. Without Burn we would have been under huge pressure as Forest lumped the ball into the area. The first Forest goal was errors from Miley, Botnan and Dubs. The second an unlucky deflection. If we play like that we will win a lot more than we lose
You know zero ball 😂
@@anon-zk6iz Try English
@@Ozmag1508 Okay grammar teacher but you please don't try Football tactics 😂
@@anon-zk6iz No, good idea, I’d better make sure Eddie Howe asks for your opinion
@@Ozmag1508 Thanks 👍 goodbye grammar teacher 🤣
I swallowed my disappointment about Eddie getting job when it looked for a while like he'd not wasted his time off and he'd added defensive stability to offensive skill. A great season when everything went right has been followed by too much proof that he's second rate when anything goes wrong. I pray that the lack of support in transfers mean he's in last chance territory with Saudis and there working on a first class manager.
BTW Craig's lack of addressing the Saudi question is a positive ; until USA (and others) ownership is treated as evil I don't want to hear a thing about saudi being a terrible place. Biden kills as many houthis as MBS and I'd rather linzi smith was in SJP than a Pride flag.
It's imperative to sack Eddie Howe. We should've had a squad overhaul last summer. Keeping the likes of Gillespie, Matt Ritchie, Dan Burn and Paul Dummett was unnecessary
He would waste hundreds of millions on average British players and mess us up with ffp again
We are Newcastle....suck it up guys.
God help the rest when we get our 5h!t togeather..!
H W T L.
How can you be consistent with 3 or 4 Championship level players in the team.A combination of injuries and EH stubbornness is the reason why, plus no incomers in January.
A win is a win! But, yes we looked vulnerable at times. Lady luck was with us for 20 minutes at start of second half. We couldn't handle their press and the penalty shout could have gone against us.
We did play well against Villa, Craig, apart from a nervy ten minutes.
3 to Bruno, 2 to Trippier and 1 to Schär. Longstaff wasn't worthy of a star in my opinion. Young Miley deserves a rest. Perhaps Tino can come in? How will we compete with Arsenal? Tin hat time in two weeks?
Longstaff is no Moussa Sissoko. That's his problem
3 bruno
2 gordon
1 schar
You keep going on about control in midfield but we have 4 midfielders out and we are playing a 17 year old who is learning game by game. Also Sean Longstaff who gives his all in every game but is not the controlling midfielder your looking for
that is why we signed Tonali to replace him.
NOBODY genuinely thinks that was a penalty. Ridiculous. Could even have had a yellow for diving
Villa game craig...that was the last really good performance
True. I thought that when I listened back… less than two weeks previous.
