Interesting point of order: depending on where the lore is coming from, Tharizdun is either bound or just tricked, effectively unaware that Voidharrow is just an illusion created by the gods to keep him at bay. I wonder if the sword is really just the means by which to pierce the veil between the real world and voidharrow, though you would have to be thoroughly insane to even try. Either way, great bad guy and putting this in the campaign would be a great way to seed a Tharizdun plotline or cult.

You never really knew what they were going to cover that month, but you could be sure that they would hit a wide variety of very entertaining and useful topics. It always had a little something for everyone. It was never irrelevant, just because you weren't going to use it now you could always file that knowledge away. And it was very entertaining. So to destroy it... you plunge it into the demiplane of imprisonment, potentially breaching it to expose the sword to Tharizdun's happy delusion of having destroyed the multiverse, but at the same time making him aware that there are still things out there left to destroy, and drawing his full attention to breaking free from his prison and unmaking creation. Yeah, totally worth it!

    • @That80sGuy1972
      @That80sGuy1972 Před 4 lety

Artifacts are totally awesome rewards to the party. They not only give the party a great magical item but they also have a deal-with-the-devil type kink in their use, like having Han Solo's ship... a freighter with awesome combat abilities but things tend to malfunction.
Sword of Cerlethar: Holy Avenger +10, +5 more against Evil, + 5 more against Chaotic. Super-hard crystal in structure that makes diamonds seem as hard as mud and glows like a Light spell all the time with those within the light radius affected as if submerged in holy water and within Protection from Evil. You can use the sword as the holy symbol of Cerlethar.
Drawbacks: Grip it and choose either to convert to Lawful Good or take 5d10 damage and drop it, refusing to drop it disintegrates you and moves you instantly to your afterlife. If the sword accepts you, the DM can stop you from alignment violating actions. You cannot act on them. You can only do them if you reject the sword and cast it away. Yes, it allows DM interference in role-playing. No, that is not a small draw-back.
To destroy it, it must be cast into a volcano and left there in the lava. It can be recovered during that process at any time and still be fine. However, if while in lava/magma, the entire planet becomes not only dominated by evil but becomes pretty much evil in nature, the sword will disintegrate.
The Infinite Anything Weapon +5: It can become any weapon a human or smaller sized being can use. What weapon it is must be declared and the action took at the beginning of the round. If it is a missile weapon, ammo must be provided. There are grey areas. If you make it a musket weapon of sorts, you only need to load it with the projected missile, not the gunpowder and wadding (it has its magical explosions ready). Make it an ancient firearm, it would most likely fire faster because you drop the projectile down into the barrel and can just aim and fire as fast as archers. In the melee, this weapon can get quite deadly. If you roll a natural 20, you can shape-shift the weapon to be brutally gory, inflicting another 5d10 and a save vs. death.
Drawbacks: Your weapon changes f^cking shape! It is not only reputed but witnessed. There are stories about it, even a lot of Bard songs about it. It will be coveted by adventures, conquerers, and assassins among others... even demons and devils will want it for their minions. Hostile un-related (to the mission) encounters will happen. You might be able to get out of violent trouble easier but violent trouble will happen more often.
To destroy it, be the owner and say "this isn't worth it" and make a move to break it... and be honest about that. The weapon will shatter and move its enchantment and manifest elsewhere... it can only be destroyed in image.
The Gold Man & Golden Circlet: The Gold Man is an OP golem controlled with the Golden Circlet. Over time, with each commanded use, the Gold Man gets more intelligent and capable. He gets lighter, faster, and brilliant. His golden status becomes as hard as metal but as light as flesh and blood. Eventually, the Gold Man becomes akin to having a great NPC heroic level ally. Then, at the end of on battle, the Gold Man becomes a flesh-and-blood guy wearing a circlet and says "Yes! I am free!" and turns to dust leaving only a golden circlet. The player character using the Gold Man via the Golden Circlet suddenly becomes an indestructible golden statue.
Infinite Wand of Wonders: It's a Wand of Wonders with infinite charges. That alone makes it an artifact that backfires in its nature.
Pan's Pouch of Feasts: There are a LOT of these artifacts in my campaigns, so it totally qualifies as a minor artifact. I love Pan and he loves parties. If your party uses this once per day, you are completely nourished for the day but also drunk. If you avoided the wine then you ingested something lotus related and thus high. You are at the -2 everything for a bit (+2 all things for Pan priests). Ingesting the feast also takes 1-4 hours in a pocket dimension that was actually an instant effect. Pan stole the Lotus secrets to inverse the time. In short, use this when thirsty or starving but you will get drunk doing it.
Pan's Pipes: They are panpipes of +5 in any endeavor and bestowed upon his most favored bards who can play them. All bard songs and spells can be done with playing this alone unless the material component is something that needs to be transformed or affected. If Pan does not approve of you using it, it disintegrates. He's drunk a lot on his home plane so, once per mission, the first time this is used makes Pan disintegrate it (call it back home) have a 25% chance to do it no matter what.
Golden Apples: These are artifacts not because of their level of power but what they grow on, a Loom of Magus Tree of Live. It grows some golden fruit. Each has some special pre-set benefit. The apples, the Golden Apples, only completely restore anyone with an affliction to a non-afflicted state (fully healing, restoring, fully resting, etc). Eating another will allow some knowledge benefits, research tidbits, campaign answers, etc. Eating too many can really, really backfire. Getting a god of many of such said answers to inspire his clerics to see you as someone needing to be killed is a thing.

I know for one thing: Most of the settings only prevent dieties from walking the mortal planes because Aao the Dm's Intern said so, but in Exandria the gods created the Divine Gate, which is kinda a cosmicscale wire fence with gaps only big enough for mortal beings to pass through, though Divine Intervention can allow a twmporary gap to be wrenched open so a god can reach through and act upon the world.

I actually ran an "evil campaign" based upon players who had conversions to evil alignments. One through an artifact similar to this, the others who were the players who role-played their characters to go along with his ideas and plots. I would have loved to have The Claw of Tharizdun in my campaign, I had something similar but it was a vampiric healing short sword that was awesome as an off-handed weapon... it only missed on a natural 1 and did an extra attack before anyone else at the beginning of each round. Only problem was is that it had the soul of an evil murderous thief and it warped you to be more like him (you become him in personality, eventually picking up a spin on his name). Believe it or not, that was inspired by (and warped from) Doctor Who. Your videos are not just informative, it's like sitting before a great storyteller.

That's a great idea! I'd also make the sword itself, a sort of key, used as part of the process to unlock Tharizdun! As well as maybe making the person who attunes to it become obsessed with releasing Tharizdun! Whether the character knew that they were being possessed or influenced by the sword! Maybe give the sword the ability to cast sleep, charm, etc., and a few other spells that could help with keeping the other party members unaware of what was happening. Heck! I'd even make it to where the person, upon becoming fully possessed by the sword, was a sort of temporary Chosen of Tharizdun, so that they could be a worthy opponent if and when they have to fight their friends, in order for the party to prevent the character from releasing Tharizdun. And then, allow for new saving throws, that become easier to succeed in, are made for say every 5% of hit points lost in the battle, so that they could be free's from the sword's influence, without them having to be killed. And then have another agent if Tharizdun sweep in, and take the sword, and any other items needed to release Tharizdun, to keep the adventure going a bit longer! That's just what comes to mind at the moment!

If the Abyss is separate from the Crystal Spheres, and each Crystal Sphere has its own demons and Demon Lords(generally), then do the demons from each Sphere rub shoulders in the Abyss? And if so, what happens when the top Demon from one Sphere meets the top Demon from another Sphere? Is there a death match or is there already a hierarchy of the Demons from different Spheres?

There are infinite demon lords for the infinite layers of the abyss.
They fight each other constantly, as each and every demon lord believes that it and it alone is destined to reshape all of creation in its own image. Alliances exist and have been made between demon lords, but they are ultimately temporary.

@@ShadowXardas basically, but demons don't want to reshape creation. They hate it and want it to be destroyed. The only reason they tolerate other demons is that they hate good and lawful beings more, and know that they aren't strong enough to defeat them all on their own. Plus, everybody wants someone to talk to, who agrees with them on most things... Eternity is a long time to be really alone. ..

AJ Pickett This I know. What I meant is do the Demons from different Spheres have a hierarchy when they encounter each other in the Abyss or is it just a “fight-on-sight” type of thing? Or are most of them just the same Demons going by different names in different Spheres?

Btw the reason I linked the Albion Alexandria and not it's "cousin" the Principe, is because of two reasons.
One, the Alexandria is more suited to one handed use though your gonna wanna work out them muscles.
The second is that I prefer the geometry and proportions of the crossguard on the Alexandria, something about it speaks to me.)
