i believe in ancient times,they did not use money. Anuradhapura was established as a city 550 years BC. King Pandukabaya set up hospitals for both animals and humans in 437 BC. The city was divided into 4 and one quarter was dedicated to the Greeks
one of the best Video made by you in Sri Lanka, this is a real srilankan story. Even though they had language barrier their smile mean a lot, the family and the villagers were enjoyed with you because you maybe the first foreigner came to their village. The water reservoir or lake is the main source of water in dry season. Without water they are unable to cultivate any crops. Thank you for your great comments about my motherland

Brother it was Anuradhapura. So many foreigners came to visit Anuradhapura and they are always visit village as well. It was only true hospitality.

This people are so unique kind of people, they are hard working ,and they are so united unlike other places in sri lanka .if someone need help they gather and act immediately, i have experienced it personally , they knows the pain and hunger of others really well , fighting with the earth every day to survive and feeding sri lanka, even they have so much problems ,

What a brilliant vlog about real sri lankan village life.
In the past, our ancient kings used to build at least one lake per village for farming.
Villagers chew areca nuts with betel leaves and lime powder to get a bit high and stay awake

I am Sri Lankan, also live in a village..........Thank you for visiting there....many foreigners only experience rich and luxurious places in sri lanka and interact with rich and powerful and leave and ignore village people....and don't even willing to see the village and talk with them.. Thank you very much for sitting with them and eating. It is bit sad that their English was not that great for you to understand. You are very kind and Humble lady. Much respect to you.

The tree with the big fruit you saw is called jackfruit. It belongs to the fruit group but is widely used in cooking.The seeds in its pods are also eaten, and Sri Lankans like to eat them fried .

I live in the city but my village is near to the city and I regularly visit my village to look after my crops. I have planted rice and corn 🌽 crops for now.

It was really a honour! I told my host - the lady who hosted me in Anuradhapura through Airbnb - that I wanted to see the rice fields and how farmers live there, so she arranged this for me

@@toohappytobehomesick when I go there and have some chat with them, I feel very relaxed. they talk with us as if we have been known to them for a long time. very friendly. actually crime rate is also low. during the time of civil war things changed a bit, criminal cases began to emerge. but now they are ok.
they are still keeping the basic values.
what I understood was whether we are poor or rich we can still keep good qualities.
