Love this gothic, dark, demonic sounding horror music it will stand the test of time for sure. Candyman is one of my favourite horrors and Tony Todd is excellent
In the music, when the notes go lower, deeper, it’s like you can hear Candyman’s heart breaking. I know he’s meant to be evil but he suffered before he became what he did and I think the film did a great job of making the viewer pity him, therefore making us question our own morals for feeling sorry for a monster. I love this film and the meaning behind it. It’s not just a horror, the themes and undertones express so much more than gore. Love it. Need it on DVD I think. Thanks for the upload!
@@kyleshiflet9952 absolutely, it shows that grief, blood and evil are not black and white but grey. As humans, we are almost taught to choose right or wrong but we rarely are one or the other.
This piece sums up the whole mood of _Candyman._ Equal parts murderous and melancholy. Just as scary as it is sad. Great score for one of the greatest contemporary fairy tales. Clive Barker gave us the original theme of class repression. Tony Todd gave Candyman himself not only his look and his voice, but also his haunting backstory. Bernard Rose, the director, somehow convinced all this talent to things they'd never have done. And the music... Phillip Fucking Glass for the win!
I recall watching this in the theaters with my older siblings and cousins . I was around 10 maybe and theater staff didn't care if it was rated R lol . A lot of loud mouth punks were packed in there but suddenly the place went silent and stayed that way for the remainder of the film. Way cool
This a masterpiece of music. When I was a child ths song used to give me chills. Now I see it for it's true beauty. I love this song so much. It invokes such beautful fear into the soul. It's a song that you can't forget. Yesterday would have marked 10 years since the last time I saw this movie. I love it more than I did before. Thank you so much for posting this. You have such a good taste in music.

This whole film is such a masterpiece. Falls under the same category as Interview with the Vampire for me. While it is a horror, its theatrical with a certain plausibility. Phillip Glass captured the story in music brilliantly.
Right from the get-go, this music tells you that you're about to be in for something extremely disturbing and terrifying. This is one of my favorite horror movies and one of my favorite horror scores. The music is just so atmospheric and haunting. When I was a little kid and saw this for the first time, it scared the s&^% out of me.
Just watched this movie today and immediately recognized this as something Travis sampled in days before rodeo. Look up the prayer if you haven’t already heard it!!
Candyman is the perfect example of a sympathetic villain. we feel bad for him, especially for how he was killed, but at the same time, we are reviled by his acts of evil
The brilliance of this whole soundtrack is based off of the concept “less is more” you don’t need a bunch of bullshit to give the audience an emotional feeling.
"They will say that I have shed innocent blood. What's blood for if not for shedding? With my hook for a hand, I'll split you from your groin to your gullet." "I came for you."
Such a phenomenal and breathtakingly haunting and magnificent movie score - I’d love to hear this played and sung live by a real pipe organ, orchestra, and chorus.
@@nueks_2764 Lol, I agree. The Travi$ Scott song is good though, even if it thrives on the musicianship of Phillip's original. Likewise Timbaland, Lil Wayne & Nelly Furtado - Maneater (Remix) was another good use of this, in 2008. For whoever's interested

The collector’s edition blu-ray is only $10 on Amazon - the COLLECTOR’s edition with two discs and the new scan of the film and all the special features and everything. Buy that instead of giving your money to the new sequel that fundamentally doesn’t understand Candyman (or how to produce a scary film)

@OceanBlue yes but if youve seen all 4 of the candyman movies youd understand that they base it off true events, and each movie is made by completely different people, the only thing constant is the candyman and 1 or 2 charecters. They are trying to create a real candyman myth, like a ghost story everyone knows
I love how utterly gothic this whole score is
the prayer brought me here i just had to know the original sample before i die

That's why I love this movie not many horror movies make you sympathize with the Villain
I think a lot of people felt that way. He did suffer intensely, so it’s actually understandable why he became a monster.
Yeah and he pretty much wants his wife back
Because the girl is suppose to be her wife

The best horror movie ever with the best soundtrack ever. I love everything about this franchise. Yes even the 3rd movie
I remember hearing this first in Terrordrome. It introduced me to Candyman
I almost want to learn to play the organ just for this song, but I'd need a chorus to go with it.
