Gilneas - Music & Ambience (1 hour, 4K, World of Warcraft Cataclysm)

- Gilneas is the name of the in-game starting zone for worgen. During the Silverpine Forest storyline, it becomes known as the Ruins of Gilneas, which players can visit. The kingdom of Gilneas makes the peninsula its home.
Following the events of the Invasion of Gilneas, casualties were heavy and the enemy even took the life of the prince and heir to the Gilnean throne, Liam Greymane. This forced the majority of the population to evacuate Gilneas to seek shelter in the night elven lands, while the Gilneas Liberation Front remained to continue fighting for freedom of their homeland. This region quickly became one of the main fronts in the war between the Alliance and the Horde following the Cataclysm. Alongside their new 7th Legion allies, the Gilnean forces clashed with the Forsaken armies marching beyond the ruined Greymane Wall.
Through several battles, which ended in the loss of all the Forsaken bases aside from the Forsaken Front, the Liberation Front ended up cutting off most of the Forsaken's support and eventually removed the Forsaken from the area completely. This was achieved through the aid from their new allies in the Bloodfang pack, and 7th legion support in the form of naval soldiers and submarines (which proceed to destroy the entire Forsaken fleet in the area). The loss of the Forsaken Fleet was enough to turn the tide completely, forcing the Horde from the tattered kingdom entirely.

After playing the entire Kul Tiras quest line, I had a feeling of _déjà vu._ After 1 month or so, I went back to Gilneas and realized that zones such as Drustvar or Stormsong Valley have quite a few common elements.
I enjoyed revisiting the populated Gilnean zone, the story is captivating and yet tragic. The unsung heroes here are Lorna Crowley (Lord Darius Crowley's daughter) and Krennan Aranas (the Royal Chemist of Gilneas), but we cannot deny that all characters in the story were real heroes.

This zone NEEDS to be relevant again. Sad that its just a starting zone... im tempted to create a worgen to just quest and Stay there, forever. And btw thanks so much for these videos, I love listening to them at work :D

I think we just got our wish, next .5 patch has reclaiming of Gilneas storyline!

I don’t know why, but there is something that draws me to the feel of Gilneas..maybe because it evokes grey sky, burning incense of smoke, maybe from roasting of ducks or peaches in the fireplace, the crimson red of rose petals, and the brisk air.
Love it - most disappointing thing is that it's phased so I can't visit it (as a live area) outside of leveling a Worgen.
True, same scenario like Kezan / Lost Isles (Goblin area).

Agree completely. Everytime i level a Worgen i make it a point to milk my time there through skilling, enjoying the Aesthetic and score over all other regions.
Well not really, you can still return to gilneas, it'd just be missing somethings because of what the cataclysm events that took place there, while Kazan and The Lost Isles, you are never able to go back there.

As you know I never listened to the music in game while playing because I found it distracting and I did play this zone twice when it was new. I'm so glad this is my first time hearing this music because now I'll always remember it this way. The music is haunting and poignant and evocative. You managed to capture the essence of the music and the zone perfectly. Well done. ♥️
Thank you. Next time in WoW, turn the music on but lower the volume to be less than the ambience (around 15% is my preference). Extra tip: sound effects even lower than the general sound, at minimum but not mute :)

How are you able to move the camera so slowly and steadily? Are there addons for that, or are you using an external viewer?
I think there's one yes. I've heard a CZcamsr talk about it on a video. His name is Hayvengames. You should check his videos out.

There is a big incompatibility with the horde unfortunately... it's called Sylvanas. She destroyed Gilneas like she did with Teldrassil. It was considered at that time less of a tragedy because players did not have the chance to play there.
But the Gilneas spirit is extraordinary, they went through a lot, but they still fight, even now in BfA.
