This project was pretty short, but it was a lot of fun to make after figuring out the original concept for the backlit wall aligning setup.
It's only flaw is that it quickly becomes illegible the moment youre standing outside of the immediate 15 degree angle in front of the display. That's why I chose not to create a double digit display, as it would have decreased the quality of either one display.
Ultimately this isnt very practical but it looks cool which is basically enough in my book
Music: Ranch Theme, by Harry Mack
What a unique idea, wish more people could see this ❤
Already seen it, already very interested in this.
Clever idea. Also a lot easier to understand than real LCDs.
All your videos are just pure genius, happy to have found this goldmine
SLIME RANCHER MUSIC W
The slime rancher music in the background XD
Love the slime rancher background music
Wow it even has Light bleed just like a real LCD:)
I was quite fond of this idea so I recreated it to see it in action in person. And I must say it's even cooler in person. To more thoroughly close the shutter and block light I found that using 3 rows of alternating walls and fences instead of 2 pretty much blocks every bit of the backlight form showing through. But once I stacked a few together it became painfully obvious just how impractical the concept is, because as soon as you get into the correct position to view a second display, you realize you are unable to see the first one! Douh!!
Loved this, is there any possibility of a tutorial/video/world download of it? Concept seems very cool (including the lectern part)
In like a couple days I'll release a wdl of the Beacon video, and this project happens to exist in the same world as it. You can find it there, when i post it
@@squibble111 I’ll sure watch it, thanks man!
@@squibble111hey, just here to thank you for uploading the world, I was very interested to learn how you managed to do the lectern thingy, very creative. Love your work!
music from slime rancher
Very nice! People *still* learn something new in minecraft every day.
This is pretty cool. Using a similar concept, I made an animated hologram with beacons and colored glass. There is a video on my channel.
Nice, love the slime rancher bg music
wow genius
That’s awesome! I’d like to see more demonstrations of the number changing from the front
Thats a really cool idea
The logic part makes this process even harder
Fan freaking tastic video my dude. Keep it up
the way you did the lectern selection is amazing XD
Bro... ur an artist
LCD stands for liquid crystal display, so you dont need to say display again. just 7 segment LCD
Hey there’s slime rancher music in the background!
This is amazing 🤩
this is really cool
Man discovered polarization in mc wtf
Amazing!
This, but with concrete powder instead of walls
Nice
Wow
In Minecraft I made a display that involves redstone lights
Never seen lectern work like that wow
Now make a clock with these
And sync it up with the in-game time
This is good.
That's cool!
Cool!!!
VA (Vertical Alignment) display ?
That's amazing
This is cool
I like this
At first I thought it was beacons due to the vertical lines
Your big brain
…and why not use redstone lamps? Much easier than the wall shenanigans no?
because its different and different is cool
make a crt monitor next
Genius!
It time to make it smaller
so cool!
Oh didnt know how they worked, very cool
very cool but my dirt house is pretty cool too
might it be easier using trapdoors? Just have to find a solid light source (which emits light whether powered or not)...
But how do you do this on a large scale?
the viewing angle tho 💀 very nice concept tho
hey look if real life screens were 2 meters thick i think theyd only work head on too
Neat
Could you use opening and closing trapdoors to do this?
How do you open and close them on a large scale?
What shader you use?
complimentary reimagined
Hmm, an LCD clock using walls? That possible?
Clock?, maybe. Ill have to look into that, but possible i could make it woek
Possible yes! I did it already. Practical, No. unfortunately the restricted viewing angle means only one or two digits at most can be seen at once before the viewing angle is exceeded and the backlights become blocked. @@squibble111
like your voice
what is a real life?
This is so hecking cool! My fix of geekiness has been fulfilled hehe
