As a Marseille fan, born and raised, you can easily guess which one hurts the most. Up until now, it was Sol Campbell and it's not even close. I'm so disgusted I consider following another club in the meantime. But I don't know which one. For Figo, it's a bit complicated because he expected to renew his contract at Barcelona. When Perez got elected as Real Madrid's president and paid the transfer clause, Barcelona was trapped and could do nothing but accept. For Neymar, I don't think there has been a transfer which didn't benefit a single party. PSG lost so many money, Barcelona threw that money into players which didn't fit the team while Neymar never reached the level he once had (added to his questionable style of life).
For Figo it is kinda ironic that about 10 years prior or so, another Barcelona great, Michael Laudrup, did the same transfer. Only he wasn't reviled for it and is still loved in Barcelona. I think because people in Barcelona knew it had more to do with him falling out with Johan Cruyff than him wanting to leave.

It's rare for me to agree with Alfie, but I definitely do when it comes to Greenwood. Oh, how it would be a real shame if someone in Ligue 1 were to break his legs...
Now say this to every single person who has ever been in prison for committing a crime and then looking for a job elsewhere. Btw the charges were dropped by his girlfriend, so let's not do a 'trial by media' and say 'evidence suggests xyz' when there is a right to a fair trial regardless of evidence or not.

Bit harsh saying Taylor was dreadful for Bristol City. Played a lot of games off the bench and assisted the winner vs Man U. Worth every penny of that 300k!
'whatever he's saying' is literally pronouncing it how it is spelt.. you can educate someone without being a prick about it.. if thats ur team be happy he did all the research required to include that dog shit league..
Tevez’ transfer was far more controversial than Cole’s. Cole’s wasn’t illegal for a start, and didn’t contribute directly to a team cheated out of their place in the premier league.
Like for Hamalainen. He aloso scored against Lech both match 16/17 season. That two was winning goals on extra time and at the first he was on offside(that was pre VAR era).
I'm surprised you didn't include Steven Berghuis joining Ajax from Feyenoord in 21/22. They put up a net around the pitch whenever he returns to play in De Kuip after numerous threats, including shooting fireworks at him while on the pitch.

Hi Alfie. Great Video Potential video idea. Controversial managerial sackings but ended up being replaced with successful appointments. I don’t have any suggestion’s unfortunately but hey that’s why you have the channel 😂
4:21 Perez had an agreement with figo prior to being elected, if Perez wasn’t elected then figo wouldn’t have to join but if he was elected and figo opted against the move he would have to pay Perez a hefty penalty (enough to cover the Madrid socios season tickets) to Perez and Madrid.
Lewandowski to Bayern from Dortmund should be an honourable mention. Got him for free, won everything with Bayern, sold at age 34 to Barca for 50m. On a side note, Alfie, please don't start joining the 'trial by media' train. In the same way someone who went to prison still has the right to get a job post release, someone who has not been charged has all the right to do the same, and whoever has chosen to buy him has the right to not be ashamed. Just remember that charged ≠ convicted, and media nowadays really stifles what can constitute a fair trial, which any person has the right to, regardless of evidence, mitigating circumstances, etc. I am NOT supporting violence towards women by saying this, just pointing out that whether anyone likes it or not, all people deserve the same access to a fair trial when they are charged.
I don't know if it is trial by media, it is just called having an opinion and taking a stance against violence. There is enough evidence out there to assume that Greenwood is a sicko and that is entirely his fault that people judge him for it. It simply doesn't matter in this case if he was convicted because we all know how much power especially rich and famous abusers can have over their victims and even in court. If there wasn't anything bad going on we wouldn't have these recordings for his girlfriend. Therefore I fully support everyone saying he shouldn't be playing at this level. Sport in itself as well as clubs at least act as if they had values so they should be more serious about these topics. We as a society generally shouldn't give these type of people such a stage because it is a slap in the face for abuse victims just trying to watch some sports and normalizes said actions. A lot more sick people could potentially feel safe seeing no actions being taken with Greenwood and act similarly. It also just damages the sport itself because a lot of people just cannot focus on a ball being kicked if one of the players has such a background. A lot of people are just not as fond of sickos trying to entertain them compared to someone with values and better actions. I get that he's not convicted and therefore he should at least have a right to walk freely but it's also completely unneccesary to grant him such a priviledged position. Of course we got to also protect wronfully accused people from random accusations and also give them a benefit of the doubt but in Greenwoods case it's hard to doubt anything with these recordings. I have to say though I at least somewhat understand your perspective but it just misses some aspects of the whole story imo. It just doesn't sit right with me just pointing at the law because the law isn't perfect, not even close.
@reinrassigerStuhl agree with some of your points too regarding how people view others having a past, because it human nature to feel fearful of people who are known to have been a threat or danger to others. That being said, 'there's enough evidence that proves he's a sicko' is exactly what we don't want to entertain with anyone. In an age where so much scrutiny can seriously jeopardise a fair trial, its very important to remember 'innocent until proven guilty.' As for a slap in the face, you're right about that. It's not a short discussion in honesty, it needs a lot more detailed elaboration and I think people have to just be aware of the impact misaccusation can have on someone's life and career. Whether or not evidence points to something. The justice system isn't perfect, but until something replaces or betters it, we do still need to give everyone a fair trial.
2006-7 was insane! I can see an argument for any of Cole, Tevez/Mascherano, Obi Mikel or Zlatan...personally I'd go for the West Ham duo as that's a slightly more unique scenario than a player moving between bitter rivals.
No honorable mention for Griezmann to Atletico Madrid from Real Sociedad? He told the team he felt homesick and that he wanted to return to France, yet went to the one team that every RS fan should absolutely despise.
I think some interesting inclusions, would be Beckham to LA Galaxy where the English manager refused at first to select him and many people thought he was wasting his career. Oscar to Shanghai.
In 2000, there was another huge controversial signing when Liverpool wasted 12 million to sign the worst striker ever - Emile Heskey. Heskey would go on to score an astonishing 7 goals in 62 games for England and 20 goals in about 20,000 games for Liverpool. It only took them 4 years to realise he was shit and got rid of him.
Was surprised that the transfer of Martin Braithwaite from Leganes to Barcelona wasn't mentioned as he was signed outside the transfer window and Leganes ended up getting relegated. Also left a lot of Middlesbrough fans scratching their heads...
Video idea: Best player of every decade E.g 50s Di Stefano 60s Pele 70s Cryuff Could be interesting to see honourable mentions too and who you decide to go for in the 00s
38:25 No mention of Raith Rovers signing (and loaning out) convicted rapist David Goodwillie? The signing was so controversial that several of Raith's directors resigned, their shirt sponsor pulled out, and their women's team severed ties with them. Two months later Raith loaned him back to previous club Clyde, at which point *their* women's team resigned and the local council promised to terminate the stadium's lease if Goodwillie ever set foot in it. Surely that deserves at least a mention, especially when you mention Greenwood later on?
Legally David Goodwillie is not a Convicted Rapist rather he was found liable for Rape in a Civil Court through the standard of evidence is much weaker in Civil Court
Steven Dufour's move from Racing Genk to Standard Liège was every bit as contentious. Originally a Genk wonderkid, he threatened the Bosman rule to move to Standard. And in revenge, Genk poached Christian Benteke from Standard
Now i want nothing more than Alfie doing a video on Getafe. Having followed La Liga for years, i never really liked them, but i didn't know there were objective reasons to hate the club.
You forgot to twist the knife on the Ashley Cole transfer as you had with Campbell and Ferdinand, probably because you'd have to list a bunch of Chelsea trophies! He won the Premier League, a Champions League and a Europa League plus 4 FA Cups and a League Cup. Arsenal won a single FA Cup right at the end of his time at Chelsea in a season that saw him largely miss out to Azpilicueta.
For those who dnt know the reason Bristol rovers fan hate matty taylor is that he insisted on putting that low release clause in his contract then went n told players n staff of city in order to get signed, in essence he'd worked the deal completely under our noses !!!
The cruyff story is so fn good and shows never to bet against kings . R9 did a similar thing at 150 kgs for Corinthians when he basically regained his playing form after another injury at his boyhood club and who didnt think he could play professionally ... 10 years after Fenomeno retired , Corinthains basically boasted a dynasty as a result of his midas touch.
You could also have used Jérôme Boateng to LASK for 2024-25. LASK isn't a big club and his crime isn't as heinous, it's "just" assault, but he was even convicted and the president of LASK still decided to stick with him. His argument was along the lines "if he doesn't get jail time, he still can play for us."

One from the previous century: Ruggeri from Boca Jrs to River Plate in 1985/6. Due to financial trouble and internal conflict with the player, boca did a swap deal for ruggeri with river plate and ruggeri ended up winning in 1986 the libertadores, intercontinental and World cup while a river player
As a Liverpool fan who grew up watching that Rafa Benitez team in the late 2000's, Torres moving to Chelsea genuinely hurt me more than some breakups have
It was heartbreaking to see him leave even if he was past his best and the fact he went to Chelsea of all clubs only made it worse
38:13 Peter Lim as An Austrian Painter is just wild💀🇩🇪
Henderson situation devastated me as an lfc fan, thought he was a captain who represented my values. Instead ended up showing insane hypocrisy
Jordan is disgusting. Glad he saw that he messed up and returned to Europe.
A-LEAGUE MENTIONED!!!! AND IRONICALLY AFTER NINKOVIC MOVED CLUB HE GOT CITIZENSHIP😂
me in college thinking madrid had the best summer when they got becks and man utd signed some portugese kid. wanted ronaldinho and makalele as well. turned out it was madrid who lost out in those first few years while man utd chelsea and barcelona won all the trophies.
It's rare for me to agree with Alfie, but I definitely do when it comes to Greenwood. Oh, how it would be a real shame if someone in Ligue 1 were to break his legs...
Because people who make mistakes shouldnt be able to work again?
Now say this to every single person who has ever been in prison for committing a crime and then looking for a job elsewhere. Btw the charges were dropped by his girlfriend, so let's not do a 'trial by media' and say 'evidence suggests xyz' when there is a right to a fair trial regardless of evidence or not.
@@dj71162 ok, so I've done a cursory research on the situation...
Girlfriend (wanna be famous model) releases horrific pics and recordings on Instagram (hahahahaha) alleging Greenwood did horrific things.
Police get involved, investigate, GF refuses to collaborate, police uncover 'new evidence' and drop the case.
Greenwood and GF get back together and live happily ever after, starting a family.
So a very young, very rich couple, thrust into public life do stupid things, not eligible to be deemed illegal.
Am I missing something?
@@leeofdoom4452he didn’t make a mistake lmao

As much as i love Fabrizio...he really is kinda making the sport boring in a way
Like looking back everyone knew before the ballondor ceremony that messi was winning it two weeks before the time. Neymar joining saudi from psg. Clubs being in talks with players.
The last transfer i can remember being shocked about was Ronaldo to United
Louie Barry's move from west brom shouldve been on here
Maybe not the biggest, but the world's biggest club refusing to pay west brom about £900k before selling him to villa less than a year later for about £3m, and still not paying, was very controversial, at our end anyway
I am from Poland (Lech Poznań fan) thanks for that ❤
Imagine if David Cameron was at the el clasico with the pig head
Bit harsh saying Taylor was dreadful for Bristol City. Played a lot of games off the bench and assisted the winner vs Man U. Worth every penny of that 300k!
Video suggestion Day 5: 7 pairs of footballers that fit the "regen" idea the best
Now make the weirdest transfers since 2000
For exemple when Kieran Trippier joined Atlético in 2019 😂
Hajduk is prounounced like Hi Duke, not whatever you were saying.
'whatever he's saying' is literally pronouncing it how it is spelt.. you can educate someone without being a prick about it.. if thats ur team be happy he did all the research required to include that dog shit league..
Mate most brits can't pronounce Gallagher or doherty correctly 😅
He's English. What did you expect?
Hell yeah for an a league reference
Very sure your goat player is freddy adu😂 he never fails to get into ur video😂

Mo Johnston wasn't the 1st, when he joined they had John Spencer
Punching the air at 830 in the morning thinking about Sol Campbell
Me thinking in 2021/2022 Feynoord Captain Steven Berghuis to AFC Ajax
Van Persie was not just the Golden Boot winner in 2013, he was not “arguably the leagues best player”. He was the reigning Footballer of the Year.
Murray’s move also got palace promoted that season with one of the best championship front threes ever
Hi Alfie, once again another great video. Can I give a video suggestion? Most iconic goals of each PL season since 1992/93?
Tevez’ transfer was far more controversial than Cole’s. Cole’s wasn’t illegal for a start, and didn’t contribute directly to a team cheated out of their place in the premier league.
21:35 tiny mistake there Alfie... We love you all the same...
Like for Hamalainen. He aloso scored against Lech both match 16/17 season. That two was winning goals on extra time and at the first he was on offside(that was pre VAR era).
The thing that made the Mo Johnson transfer to Rangers even more volatile was that he had agreed to rejoin Celtic a couple of days prior!!
I'm surprised you didn't include Steven Berghuis joining Ajax from Feyenoord in 21/22. They put up a net around the pitch whenever he returns to play in De Kuip after numerous threats, including shooting fireworks at him while on the pitch.
Referring to Alexi Lalas as a "renowned douchebag" is pitch perfect
An English person saying 'douchebag' is never pitch perfect.
Come on, not even a mention of Mario Götze or any other controversial transfer in the Bundesliga? I mean obviously this video had to be a little English league heavy but a little coverage would have been nice 😅
You should do a video on all the “biggest rivalries” from every league or st least every confederation, ex Madrid vs Barcelona, America vs chivas , Ajax vs Feyenoord / PSV “ stuff like that 😍
Hi Alfie. Great Video
Potential video idea. Controversial managerial sackings but ended up being replaced with successful appointments.
I don’t have any suggestion’s unfortunately but hey that’s why you have the channel 😂
Nice. Poch to Southampton comes to mind
An interesting move was Diego Costa representing Spain at the international level
Video Idea who is the best worst plyaer on the pitch. Like the two teams XIs were so good the worse player was amazing
Come for the transfer list, stay for the deep Freddy Adu trivia
I always did think Zaha crossed the line with his actions that day
4:21 Perez had an agreement with figo prior to being elected, if Perez wasn’t elected then figo wouldn’t have to join but if he was elected and figo opted against the move he would have to pay Perez a hefty penalty (enough to cover the Madrid socios season tickets) to Perez and Madrid.
Every single Rangers fan I've ever met loved the fact the Mo Johnston signed for them - because it annoyed Celtic fans intensely.
I look forward to your longer format videos every single time, thank you Alfie for your dedication. Keep up the great work, hi from the states 🇺🇲
Just so you know, I am a huge fan…. From Nigeria 🇳🇬
27:14 As a dutchman I can confirm nobody even batted ab eyelid at Vermeer joining Feyenoord xD
Why should every Real Sociedad fan despise Atletico? Genuine question, not familiar as to why they would hate each other

Kudos for mentioning Hämälainen, that was a massive case and he is still being called per “Judas” in Poznań.
I seem to remember Leeds' bright young thing Alan Smith revealing in an interview that he'd never play for Man Utd and then he played for Man Utd.

Was surprised that the transfer of Martin Braithwaite from Leganes to Barcelona wasn't mentioned as he was signed outside the transfer window and Leganes ended up getting relegated. Also left a lot of Middlesbrough fans scratching their heads...

Could be interesting to see honourable mentions too and who you decide to go for in the 00s
David Badwillie
He should've at least been a dishonorable mention.
Please make a video predicting the ballon d'or top 7 list for this year 🙏
You forgot to twist the knife on the Ashley Cole transfer as you had with Campbell and Ferdinand, probably because you'd have to list a bunch of Chelsea trophies!
He won the Premier League, a Champions League and a Europa League plus 4 FA Cups and a League Cup. Arsenal won a single FA Cup right at the end of his time at Chelsea in a season that saw him largely miss out to Azpilicueta.
Fiorese from PSG to Marseille would have been a good honorable mention at least.
NEXT PUN: Before i BIGGIN 🍀⚽️🗿🗿
About football rivalries, it's also believed that the Brondby IF and FC Copenhagen rivalry is also intense and results in violence.
11:10 Madrid won the SuperCoppa in 2003
For those who dnt know the reason Bristol rovers fan hate matty taylor is that he insisted on putting that low release clause in his contract then went n told players n staff of city in order to get signed, in essence he'd worked the deal completely under our noses !!!
I lived in Hull back in my college days. Positions...Sugar mill... good times.

5:01 he was probably surprised because Barcelona fans are usually not very loud. I know that Hans Krankl once said about his time in Barcelone, that 100,000 in the Camp Nou made less noise than 3,000 at the Pfarrwiese (which the stadium of his old club Rapid Vienna until 1977 and attendemances sometimes were that low in the 70s). And from what I heared, not much changed about support in the Camp Nou since then.
