- I highly recommend the 100 Hands Challenge as a transformative journey that boosted my confidence in my artistic abilities. This art challenge helped me focus on the intricacies of hand anatomy, perspective, and proportion. In a short time, it helped me grow and improve significantly. I'm sure you'll benefit from it too.
I gave myself a theme for every ten hands because I knew I would get bored if I did not find some way to keep myself interested in this project.
1-10 simple gestures
11-20 hands holding a pen
21-30 popular hand gestures
31-40 fists
41-50 experimenting with compositions & colour
51-60 children's hands
61-70 old hands with POSCA markers
71-80 hands with props
81-100 pairs of hands with props
I used my own hands as a reference in some drawings, but I mostly used photo references. Some of my favourite websites for references were Deviant Art, Unsplash, JookpubStock, Pexels and Freepik.

The final hands shows much improvement.
About you. You’re real and very cool.
Thanks 😊
Absolutely! Proportion, perspective, anatomy...it all depends on the bigger picture. I love it, and am inspired. Thank you very much!😄
Glad you enjoyed it! As I said in the video, it was worth the effort.
The spread with the bird is so lovely! Good job on completing the challenge, your hands sketchbooks are supercool!✨️
Thank you! 🤗I like that one too, reminds me to be gentle to all creatures.
AMAZIIING
They are all amazing.
Beautiful and inspiring! Congratulations on finishing the challenge🎉
Thanks Myron!
Hi PRI. -.ZeS.- from Madrid, Spain (a fellow artist and a New Yorker expat living abroad).
WOW! Very nice challenge. You can definitely see the improvement from start to finish. Amazing! My favourite spreads are the ones with ink, with Posca's and the ones in the tanned paper. But overall, very cool all of them!
I am currently doing something similar but in the Animal Kingdom, trying to accomplish a full A4 sketchbook of 80 pages with several animals on each page & both sides... let's see if I survive it! 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for sharing! Someday I'll get my self to do this 100 Hands challenge too.
Cheers from Sunny Spain!
😁👍😎
Thanks a bunch! I love your idea of drawing several animals, I'd like to get there too. YOU CAN DO IT!
Wow your hands drawing looks really good even from the start , though I think your hands drawing in the end are a lot more expressive. Congrats !
Thank you so much 😀 For me, it was about improving the amount of time I took to draw hands and of course expressiveness.
AMZ and they are a lot more refined at the end❤
Thanks! That's exactly what I was going for, refining my abilities to draw hands.
Didn't catch it if you mentioned in the video, but did you use references? What's your opinion on working from memory?
I like how you set a challenge for yourself but kept it interesting to you, I think artists of all kinds need to be reminded you can still have fun while learning/practicing/etc. Also, everything on youtube is geared like 'these tips for best results for that,' so a simple runthrough of just how another person practices is refereshing.
I enjoyed those colored hands near the end of the first book, monochrome renders of ppl are always cool! Especially that last one with liquid... But I also love the coffee tone book, the simplified black and white with that tone of background is really visually striking!
I did use references, I covered the references sources in my blog. drawingwithpri.art/blogs/blog/100-hands-challenge
I think drawing from memory takes significant time and growth. We need to build our visual libraries before we can rely on our memories alone.
