I have one of them throttle things (cant remember what its called) it is absolutely fantastic for what you want it for. I suffer with numbness and pain in my hands when riding the bike and being able to take your hand off the throttle without slowing and rest it is brilliant I wouldn't be without one now.

THanks Gary - is it at all dangerous? i.e. Potential to 'stick on'?? Or is it simply a case of rolling off the throttle?

Yup, I hate the way people smoke just outside the main entrance of a hospital. It really shouldn't happen outside a hospital. There should be a ban on smoke in such places. You really aren't acting unfair, I'm totally with you. It should be something the hospital should get sorted.

With regards to the cruise control clamp as you call it... I have one on my Bandit and it's bloody brilliant. Long journeys are a breeze 'cos you simply rest your hand flat across the throttle and extend/rest your fingers over the front brake lever. You control the throttle with the back of the palm by simply applying the slightest of pressure to control the speed you're travelling. Oxford make one for approx 8 quid available in most motorbike shops. When in town and you're constantly up and down the gears you simply revert back to gripping the throttle in the normal way. Once you've had one and used it on regular and long journeys you'll wonder why you ever rode without one before.

Right, thats it - its seems there pretty good then. (Gary also sings their praises - in the comments below). I'll get one when i'm next at my local bike shop.

The road surfacing they put down now never seem to last. Not sure what they are using but I can't understand why they freshly tarmac a road and within a couple of years they are falling apart. Could it be the level/type of salt they put on the roads nowadays?

Maybe - or simply the volume of traffic that goes over freshly laid tarmac before it has had chance to set properly??

The hardest thing I have ever done was giving up smoking and they at some stage will have too as well. After a lot of rain we get potholes here too. I tried a throttle control and took it off and fitted pussy grips on the bike not sure what they would be called there they fit over the grips on the bike.

Never having been a smoker, I can't imagine how hard it must be to give up! Well done you though!! I'll look into 'pussy' grips, just the name has connotations! Nice one mate, ride safe.

The smoking thing is so irritating. Since the 1970's, there are so many fewer smokers here in America. Probably because there are only a few pubs that allow indoor smoking anymore. I rarely ever see anyone smoking anymore. Maybe a few that are about to shop in the big discount houses. otherwise, you rarely smell it. I was totally different in the 50's, 60's, and 70's though. I still see hoards of smokers outside at the veterans hospital. So sad.

Yeah, smoking is definitely on the decline, however these new E-cigs are quite popular over here! I for one was delighted when they brought in the ban on smoking in public places, made such a difference to the atmosphere in pubs/restaurants etc.
