    I don't see many people talk about how when you first turn into the wolf this is the first song the hero of time teaches you.
    He's trying to heal the twilight curse.
    Through that lens, the fact that it doesn't work just feels tragic.

    I saw the comment regauridng how the Song of Healing being used first may have meaning with how Link is currently cursed, but I think theres a neat little extra layer to it if you look into how the song of healing is used in Majora's Mask.
    In Majora's Mask the song doesn't remove curses, nor does it heal in traditional sense. What it does is it helps spirits accept their death and move on. It's a harsher form of healing, as it doesn't heal the body but rather the soul so spirits can rest in peace. This is how it "heals" link of the deku curse, by allowing the spirit possessing his form to pass on. It's also how the other transformation masks are acquired, by helping the dead accept their deaths and pass on their unresolved burdens to Link to solve them in their stead.
    This song might not be playing for TP link, but rather for the Hero of Time, a soul still tied to the earth due to regrets. Regrets that you help satisfy and ultimately help the spirit move on by convincing him that you are now strong enough to take over the burden of the hero.

    • @nurgall6779
      @nurgall6779 Před rokem +55

      @@chronic-joker That is a good point, but at the same time we see that the Song of Healing is completely unable to remove any other curse in the game, with the Song of Storms instead being used to do so. We see this with Sharp who will even comment that the Song of Healing will no longer work on him due to his curse, we see it unable to remove the blue bubble curse that the song of storms can get rid of.
      Considering the location of Ikana being pretty much fully centered around lingering spirits with regrets, it's very likely that the Ghibdo "curse" was potentially of a possession. The Ghibdo themselves in the well where he got the affliction seem to also be spirits with regrets, not just cursed beings, as they immediately pass on when you fulfill their regrets. This lines up with what Pamela's father mentions about spirits being trapped in the well. This also seems to be evident in the Ghibdos around the music box house asking for their "friend" inside, indicating that Pamela's father might have been possessed by a spirit from the well which the other Ghibdo then sought to reclaim.
      Granted, this is just a theory on my part as Pamela's condition is never fully explained or refereed to as one thing or the other. But it does line up similarly to how the other masks are formed and used. In every other case the Song of Healing is effective when used on a spirit with regrets (which all the Ghibdo from the well have) and that after the mask is passed on to link, it is then used to help resolve said regrets that the spirit passed on to Link, with the mask being used to help the other spirits of the well pass on.

I asked him how do you find kindness to life in this shitty town? He told me that everyday he would have the song of healing in his head to get him through. I still get shivers from this song...
    When I first played Twilight Princess, I didn't have Majora's Mask or Ocarina of time. So initially, the significance of this song being there was lost on me. Eventually, I got Majora's Mask, and then Ocarina of Time. I don't really get the theories of Majora's Mask and the Ben Drowned stuff just seems weird, but I still genuinely love this song and game. On top of that, realising Queen Ruto's theme was the Serenade of Water brought me to tears all over again when I replayed and got to the part where you follow the Queen's ghost. Say what you will about this game or that game and what was better or what was worse.. but all three games have a special place in my heart now.

      @nillynush4899 Před 2 lety +69

      When taken as a trilogy in the child timeline, all three games enhance each other. They share themes of healing others, the dangers of power, the flow of time, and taking responsibility. Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess are the sequel/spiritual sequel to Ocarina of Time, so it's only natural to include them as a through line one after the other. The Hyrule Historia would later confirm a blood relation between Ocarina and Twilight Link, so the games should be paired on those grounds as well.

      Honestly, from what we were told, the musical tone of Breath of the Wild was fully on purpose to immerse us into the game proper, most of the sound would would hear in game would be diegetic music, things that Link himself would hear, but town/battle/area music would be non-diegetic, only we would hear it, and honestly the fact most of BotW was Diegetic shows this isn't a prosperous Hyrule like all the games prior, this is a Hyrule after a century of constant battle and fear.

The Hero of Twilight’s existence can no longer be felt in the world: his hometown has long since decayed away; Hyrule is no longer the same place as it was when he traveled it, the geography changing over the millennia; everyone he ever knew is dead; the world itself barely even remembers that he saved it. He’s gone, and has been for a long, long time, but the world keeps going without him or his influence. And it’s oddly saddening to know that Hyrule keeps going when everything that we know about it has changed.

He was an adult trapped in the body of a child and since he was not in kokiri, he lost his friend (Navi) for which it could be said that he lost everything. Her loneliness is what motivates him to look for her and that is where the events of Majora's mask begin. Many say that Link died early in this game, while others speculate that he did grow up. That's because the song doesn't heal curses. Even in Majora's Mask, it's never used to heal Link. It's used to help spirits that are still tied to the earth through some sense of duty or regret pass on. Link wasn't cursed to be a Deku, he was possessed by the spirit of one (specifically, the son of the butler). The song helps that spirit move on, and frees link and creates a death mask. It's the song you help the spirits of the dead, unable to move on due to regrets and problems they cant resolve, accept their death and pass on their duty to Link, who then can resolve those in their stead.
      This song isn't for the Hero of Twilight, the Song of healing can't cure him of a curse. It's for the Hero of Time. Still locked to the earth and unable to move on, who the hero of twilight helps them accept their time is at an end by proving they are strong enough to take over as the Hero.

      I've got a similar theory (only difference is that I think it could also be the Twili's ancestors, the Interlopers). The energy and the glowy line things on Zonai stuff would already be a dead giveaway, but there's more. Some Zonai constructs have an eye symbol on them not too dissimilar to the eye on the back of the Fused Shadow. Also, the eye on the front of the Fused Shadow looks similar to the eye of the mysterious figure on the trailer 3 mural. If you look on a couple of notable Twili constructs (the Fused Shadow and the Twili throne), you'll find Zonai-like spiral patterns. Finally, the Zonai clearly have an association with twinned serpent dragon iconography as shown on the logo for TotK. Twinned serpent iconography can be clearly seen on many noteworthy Twili constructs such as the Twili throne room, the Fused Shadow, Zant's shoulder armor, and the Scimitar of Twilight.
      Suffice to say, if the Twili (or their ancestors the Interlopers) don't make some sort of appearance in TotK, I'll eat my haberdasher.

      2) look at the Master Sword in the TotK logo. It’s 100% Twili magic

      The former. There is a theory that Ikanas stone tower was a portal into Hyrule and that Hyrule is Terminas heaven so to speak. The power was the triforce and the evil tribe of legend in majoras mask that made the mask were the interlopers of twilight princes.. However they were sealed away by the Goddeesses into the twilight realm becoming the twilii we see in twilight princess. The fused shadow mask is yet another attempt by the tribe to create a magical super weapon. However like majora it backfired and was deemed to dangerous so they destroyed it.

      I once thought that those eyes could be a way for the Goddesses of the Triforce to keep an eye on Hyrule and when things, forgive my language, goes to shit because of Ganon they send Link to the rescue and observe their chosen Hero through his adventures.

      @@kylebroflovski8656 actually, The Goddesses have a Goddess of time for that XD her character was fleshed out in Hyrule Warriors. and originally mentioned in Majora's Mask. Hyrule Warriors may not be canon, but it still follows the given rules of other Zelda games and doesnt break from preestablished stuff other then the events of the game not following any given timeline, but instead something completely new, but theres no reason to believe The Guardian of Time isnt a canonical character. so i'd say the watching goes to her. not the eyes everywhere. lol. i cool theory though! and perhaps thats what the symbolism is for those eyes? eye of authority!

    I know that TP already has the Song of Healing as a Howling Song, so would this be the MM song but in TP's soundfont or something?

    Correct me if i'm wrong, but the hero of time is the only hero that's shown dead. We know for a fact that every link died at some point, but the hero of time is the only one that we actually see dead
