  • The first full day of Spring brings us a revolution in green screen technique!
    If you've created a reliable green screen process already, you’re good. There’s no need to fix what isn’t broken.
    But if you’re new to green screen work, or want to add it to tighter spaces, or if you’ve been having problems with lighting or keying, this one is for you.
    It operates on a completely different principle than what any of us, including Hollywood filmmakers, are used to.
    I tested this over and over in all kinds of configurations to see if it could stand up to all the demands I place on green screens.
    It did. This is the real deal.

    I bought one a month ago and it simplified my studio tremendously.

    As a German content creator I had the privilege to buy this in the USA. It brought my video quality to the next level. Thank you guys!

    I bought my SUBR2 Green screen shortly after they came out, after I had a long talk with Richard at SUB2R and so glad I did!
    I have a tiny room for video streaming. Before this came along, I had to shoot green screen in our 2 car garage and then, either leave the cars out to the elements or strike it every day... this was a game changer for me. the rounded corners do limit the effective green screen background, so I usually have to do some masking. I'm hoping they can come out with a true 16:9 internally lit screen that's a little bigger. BTW, Steven doesn't mention that the entire screen folds up and sets up in minutes - and comes with a great carry case.

    I did this 15 years ago (from my own trial & error experiments) and discovered what these pros are now sharing in 2024. The room was only 6x4 and I used a dark blue bed-sheet. In post production inserted an animated back ground from Digital Juice. 😄

      Believe it or not you're the second person who has told me something similar. Everything old is new again! I wonder whatever happened to Digital Juice.

    Great review Steve. I've got an Elgato pull up green screen but my little room is too small to use it properly without me tripping over a bird's nest of cables and light stands.

      And it's for cases like that exactly that this slightly mind-bending technology was created. In their marketing, they show a young lady sitting in a closet with this screen behind her!

    wow! Besides the LOG look "which I like to think is just Your Look and feel" this is great!!!!! Are you able to add additional lighting or increase the ISO on the talent? Be nice to do a 2nd review answering all these questions . All in all you sir got another home run!!!

    • @StevenWasher
      @StevenWasher  Před měsícem +2

      Thank you! So kind. Yes, you can add more of each. Of course the main idea is to end the "arms race" of more light hitting the screen, necessitating more light hitting you, and round and round you go. I cut the light back deliberately to show how little you could get away with. But a little more on the subject couldn't hurt.

    I have a really tiny studio space, so this looks like a lifesaver! Curious though, what did you use to raise it the needed 20 inches for landscape video?

    Hi, Steve! Have you sold your Box Lights and Angler Lights yet? I’m excited to get rid of so many lights on my green screen. I’ve just ordered the AGS!

    • @StevenWasher
      @StevenWasher  Před měsícem

      I think you'll enjoy the heck out of using it. It's amazing how much room you can reclaim and how much less cluttered the room is while still letting you produce the magic! If you check the B&H site, they don't sell the Angler anymore because of the fumes it gives off. Yeesh. The box lights I may save for bigger location shoots.

    This video seems hazed - is it the grain from not enough light? Lots of good info here, as always...the geek in me can't stop seeing the haze on this video. Maybe it's a disparity of bitrate...? I love your info and presentation style, this is not a complaint...more a curiosity. Thanks!

      It may be because of my attempt to make all the cameras look the same. Or it may be because I was rushing a bit at the end. :)

    Yes, but $549 is expensive. I can get away with only 2 softboxes and DaVinci Resolve Studio.

    • @jamescreighton5559
      @jamescreighton5559 Před měsícem

      “Getting away” with “only 2 soft boxes…” isn’t the point. None of us who really enjoys and wants to improve what our viewers see doesn’t aim to only “get away with only 2 soft boxes.”
      We’d like to reclaim as much square footage as possible and ALSO create a great product.

      @@jamescreighton5559Actually, it is. There is no reason to overinvest. I can prove you very good keying for CZcams with just two softboxes and DaVinci Resolve Studio. Why on Earth shall I invest in new equipment when the existing does the job very well? Shall I get myself in a commercial project that requests higher resolutions and quality, I will gladly use the credit card and buy all that will be necessary.
