Thanks for watching Seibukan Jujutsu Third Degree Black Belt by Roy Dean. - Sport
Seibukan grafted a lot of useful aspects into my other styles I study.
I love all of your videos Roy. its hard to find clean crisp flowing technique here on youtube. excellent work.
Jujutsu is a Japanese martial art that focuses on grappling with supplementary striking called Atemi Waza. It was developed by the Samurai during the feudal period in Japanese history for combat in full body armor, but was later adjusted for combat without body armor. There are several different schools, or Ryu, depending on the lineage and what they were created for. Fusen ryu, for example, focused on groundfighting(newaza), while Kito ryu focused on nage-waza(throws and takedowns).
There hundreds of Ryu's and only few focused on grappling first Kito and daito are first two that come to mind since they are the father of judo and aikido respectively
Absolutely flawless technique!. This guy is awesome!
I'm sorry, friend, but I wasn't wrong. I did say that there were "several" schools of Jujutsu, I never specified how many. I know that there are dozens if not hundreds of styles, but the most prominent ones are the most practiced. Takenouchi ryu, Hontai Yohsin ryu, Daito ryu, Kyushin ryu, etc. The ones I mentioned in my previous comment were the ones instrumental in creating Judo, that's all. Kito ryu, Tenjin Shinyo ryu, and Fusen ryu.
I wish there was a Traditional Japanese Jujutsu School around were I live. I am an Aikidoka but would love to train in something like this style or Diato Ryu. Many of these techniques are similar to what I learn in my Aikido classes. Traditional Jujutsu would make ones Aikido very well rounded.
Just do bjj
U will find a lot of similarities
really good techniques nicely displayed thanks from aiki jujutsu practitioner 17 years thanks again
I attended a Ju-Jutsu school like this and there are similarities to Akido in that most movements work in circles as a way of deflecting then controlling force, the basics were from a Tai-Tsubaki movement.
After two weeks practicing Seibukan Jujutsu,I like what I see!
My grandson trained under Kancho Toribio for awhile when he was younger. I used to sit and watch the classes for hrs on end. Naturally he didn't have the finest in the beginning and wanted to try a new "breaking" technique he just learned on me one night after class. I said, "Never happen, I don't want to hear ooopsss sorry grandpa":))))
Thank you for sharing this video
Very good, congratulations. I enjoyed watching those clean techniques and the prices movement.
Amazing!! Love the music too:)
Insane!
Thanks
Nice! Good work!
Roy Dean is SOOOO smooth.
Very nice technique. No matter how much knowledge I aquire in my expreiance I enjoy watching great demos like this one.
This is the most effective 'style' of Jujutsu that i have so far found, and if there is anything out there as good or better than this, i would like to know. I almost dread every lesson, Fantastic..
Brazillian?
Definitely not more efficient than bjj for sure
Awesome..........
it does have some Hakko Ryu at the beggining.
this is a nice video, really clean demonstration of thechniques
Excellent test. All techniques were crisp. Good zanshin and musubi. Unfortunately there is only so much you can see on youtube. I would have liked to see him against multiple attackers. Congratulations on the promotion.
Well a lot of Aikido comes from traditional Japanese Jujitsu. Originally "Jujitsu" would differ greatly between each Samurai clan. It was very unorganized and would pretty much translate to "clinch/grappling moves" Then sometime after the Samurai age the people put a lot of these disarms and grappling techniques into a single system. The from there they created stuff like Aikido, Judo, BJJ etc But originally all these moves were just random moves that worked for Samurai in battle.
impressive!
really cool!
Nice music, fits quite nicely
Jujustu was the grandfather of Aikido and Judo, so it would make sense to have things that look like aikido as well al judo, but i will agree it does seem to lean more towards Aiki movement.
Very elegant. I like it very much. Jujitsu is a beatutiful art to watch and practice.
Is RD an aikido practitioner or multi style jj?
glad to see people train with live blades to enhance their jujitsu
Yah he is one of the Shihan in Budo Taijutsu..What is nice is he is one of the few instructors that allows their student to perform waza on them...not many don't sadly.
Beautiful!!:-)
excelente es jujutsu es una forma de hermosicima los felicito por tan ilustre demostracion
Hopefully there is no hard feelings from the Hakko Ryu since Toribio Sensei left Hakko Ryu in 1993, I think most if not all of the Kihon Waza is directly from Hakko Ryu (only in a different order) but if I'm told correctly, the Taisabaki and Henka are not taught in Hakko Ryu, neither is the Ju Gosinjutsu (Gun Takeaways) and some of the other weapon take aways. I'm glad you liked Roy Dean's Sandan Demo, it is very impressive.
Toribio Sensei was student in many arts between in Hakko Ryu by Okuyama and Yasuhiro Irie Sensei and other senior instructors at the Hakko-Ryu Honbu Dojo so that what he shows is not his system but copy.. and it is similar to Aikido because of wrist locks, throws etc
I practice Hakko Ryu by Antonio Garcia so I know what I see:) This Exam is beautifull! 5 STARS
that's Toribio Sensei and is Kancho for Seibukan Jujitsu, if you look him up on Wikipedia you could see all the arts he is/was involved with...
Well for the most part yes. O'Sensei was a product of sword culture he studied and reached instructor/master levels in several different forms of traditional Jujutsu also Kenjutsu and Sojutsu(art of the spear)
Neat.
i am proud do saibukan
wow....
tachiwaza, ne-waza, swari-waza, kaiten-waza.... I whole lot of waza practiced there.
remarkable.
excellent ukes by the way,
-J
aikido wrist lock throws are very similar to a few JJJ things, but however JJJ has a much better self defense system and better weapon defense system, plus all the wristlocks can be used standing and on the ground, and depending on the teacher you can get BJJ ground work in JJJ
Very impressive. Where is this dojo located?
Nice
You can buy special training blades in jiu jutsu shops.
@ilovelasange "Jiu Jitsu" is an old romanization based on what westerners thought the word sounded like as opposed to its actual meaning and pronounciation. The Japanese word "Ju"(pronounced "Juu") means soft or gentle as a noun, but as a verb it means "yeild." That's why Judo is not spelled "Jiudo." Jutsu means "art" or "study," and the correct romanization "Jujutsu" can mean "gentle art," or more appropriately "art of yeilding."
and also: Aikido is smoother and way softer in most cases
Its based on Hakko ryu jujutsu. Looks like the basic kata have been fiddled with a bit, its not usually so fast and furious.
cool
yep them's were the days
What is the difference between this and aikido?
@AngelDrive9 Yes. Muay Thai evolved from Muay Boran and, some people would say, elements of Krabi Krabong as well.
Great Stuff. I absolutely Love it. Anyone in NJ/NY area teaching Seibukan Jujutsu? I am a student of Diatoryu Aikijujutsu and a long time student of Aikido. Im very interested in your system!
Kevin
@Jartemeous i dont get it.. what is jujutsu anyway? you got so many types of it..confusing
start song?
seibukan is somewhat a japanese style jui jitsu
and brasillian adapted after, and i assume that was what you meant by just jui jitsu
Although alot of the comments are likely from a bunch of moves, the jujutsu does not look as rigid as other styles . . its more flowing, more cirular. Is it a style of aki jujutsu or daito ryu?
were is this school at?
Seibukan FTW
@dirosaga
This style developed from haku ryu jujutsu and daito ryu jujutsu. Created by Julio Toribio
jujutsu is the martial art, which has got many "schools" one of them is seibukan jujutsu
@dudesrock2 ok thnx for the info :)
aikido is a form of jujitsu. therefor there will be many similarities.
@ilovelasange Sorry, I meant to say gentle and soft are adjectives and not nouns.
This looks just like aikido. I imagine they have the same roots, but how similar are they really?
Крууто!
i bet aikido has some roots in this i noticed some moves that look very simular to aikido
Or at least what's the difference between this and aikido?
@44excalibur thnx didn't know that
i know toribio and william candelario
say hi to then from puerto rico
actually JuJutsu developed into AikiJutsu and then to Aikido a bit later JuJutsu got also another Chil in JuDo through the reformations of the US occupying Forces with dont allowing classical Martial Arts and starting to make it Sports and Competitions Based so JuJutsu became JuDo and KenJutsu became KenDo
@getthetapjj Not true. The spelling of Jiu Jitsu used in Brazil has nothing to do with the Portuguese language. At the time when Judo was brought to Brazil it was romanized as JIU JITSU. This was the most common romanized spelling at the time. Several books and magazine articles written by both westerners and Japanese used the JIU JITSU spelling for a long time.
@dirosaga i meant a bunch of noobs haha gues i was thinking about the moves
no not zen specifically. but we do practice meditation.
Original Jujitsu is how Samurai would throw, slam, takedown people. Then from there once on the ground in a dominant position you use arm or leg locks to dislocate or break joints, use chokes to kill,or you can finish the person with a weapon like a knife or chain etc. Samurai wear armor,so many of the punching and kicking techniques we see in the movies are not realistic. You cannot punch someone in full armor, but you can slam them on their head and bend their arm wrong way,or choke them to death
Am I seeing some Hakko Ryu influence in there?
@44excalibur so this is jujutsu : 呪術
Sorry mate you are wrong on the number of schools, there are hundreds of jiu jutsu styles in japan.
Remember japan had 15 hundred years of military caste system dominance to create, use and refine.there combat systems like
-Itto ryu
-Daito ryu
-Kito ryu -
-Tenshin ryu all have there stragic differences they may all look alike beacause all ryu`s share in common is the design and use of the japanesse long sword but there are difference only exponets of koryu systems would notice
Unlike practically ALL Aikido OR jujutsu vids I saw on YT (and I've watched many hundreads), these guys know their wrist locks.
Admittedly, I'm a Roy Dean fan (through YT only) but regardless of that - first time I've seen REALISTIC wrist manipulations. It's not about a dynamic or aggressive demonstration - it's all about subtlety, sensitivity and true "feel".
The bald guy with the mustache is phenomenal.
looks a little like Daito Ryu
Makes sense--after all aikido is essentially watered down jujitsu, no?
practically the same as ueshiba's aikido...
Looks more like Aikido ect, even though its roots are jujutsu...
This is more like Aikido than Jujutsu. Not as hardcore as my Aikijujutsu class.
oh man, those wrist and finger locks look painful as hell....
They are wearing hakama's not robes
isn't it jiu-jitsu??
I read that this is a cult
more like aikido than jujitsu
