Björk - Fossora ALBUM REACTION and REVIEW

  • Fossora is Björk’s 10th studio album, following on from 2017’s Utopia. The word fossora derives from Latin meaning “hole digger”, representing Björk’s intent to dig up and re-discover her roots, giving them new meanings. Some of the album’s themes are indeed Björk’s family, her home country Iceland, love, and the idea of belonging to a place.

Bjork has been consistently putting out at least a good album if not a masterpiece since 3 decades, it's pretty impressive... I do recommend going through her discography, cause I don't think there are as much artists like her out there... Do love ur reaction, they are pretty detailed

as a fan Björk fan I really enjoyed seeing youre appreciation to Fossora. to me this album is very celebratory since it's her 10th project and you cant tell she used little bits of other previous sounds into this. to me (as a personal theory) this album is really clever since it's divided in parts. the first one is the introductory one (Atopos, Ovule and Mycelia) all the sound of those three (if you notice) is often used all along the album. the second part would be a reflexive and soulful tribute to her late mother and also a reflection on motherhood, family and death. the third part is what I like to describe as a journey to the bottom of the eart: the predominant sound used is sound really earthy, mushroom-type, with a lot of bass, heavy sounds and sometimes really scary (especially with Trolla-Gabba which is the end of this part), the final one is I would like to see as the Love Arc, since it's themes and sounds gets softer: she's not only declaring to free fall on her new lover's arms or dancing/enjoying to the rythym of clarinets, she's also singing with so much love and tender with her daughter at the end. it's a really masterpiece this album, at least to me, so sad it has been underappreciated but some.

Absolutely loved this reaction. You're so well spoken and gave amazing thoughts on each track. So happy you liked the album as much as I did. Would absolutely love to see you react to some of her other stuff (Homogenic/Vespertine, hint hint)!! On a side note, the music was a bit low in this video; if it's possible to up it a bit that'd be great!

Very nice breakdown, I keep switching favorites as I digest them more and more, I don’t know why, I recognize Bjorks music to be so weird, truncated and oddly juxtaposed yet so harmonious and cathartic, I hope you do more of these, you are very nice to look at and your voice is asmr
    About the lyrics,
    “I anchor our darks
    Sleep with one eye open
    Watching our sub selves
    The keel of our ship”
I take that to mean she is perceptive to bad things inside even if they are small, to be emotionally strong
The way she writes as riddles to be deciphered is so magical to me
