    I like your EQing approach where you just clean up the mix rather than boosting stuff. Great Tutorial!

    Great work my friend . Every mixer has a different look at there mix and I like that you say that . In my touring days I would try to make the album come alive as best as I could as the people on stage pay the bills and the mixer makes the audience happy and have a great time with there favorite band . Thanks for you great work.

    i think you should always do dymanmics before eq, because dynamics can reealy change the sound

    • @BrianSimmons
      @BrianSimmons Před 3 lety

      Well on the X32 the EQ is before the compressor and there isn't any way to change it (if I remember correctly). Some boards allow you to swap this order to your preference, but you should follow whatever order the board is set up for. There is no point in setting your compression before the eq if the eq is first in the signal chain because your eq will invariably change the sound of the compressor and you will have to go back and adjust the compression settings a second time.

  • @phobsterdrummerboy
    @phobsterdrummerboy Před 4 lety +1

    When running your logic session into the board, how were you able to keep the stereo outputs from coming in on Channels 1 and 2? I've tried do this very thing but Logic defaults to sending the stereo outputs through what are my (and yours) Kick channels (1&2) and I couldn't find a way to change that. thanks in advance!

  • @JamespMusic
    @JamespMusic Před 2 lety

    what I want to know is how you got logic to send audio to 1-2... mine will not allow me to. it is default outputs and even if you change it under I/o nothing happens. Cannot get signal through 1-2

    Great video! Please, I don't understand how the compression helped the voice to stand out. I've always had this notion that it's there to help reduce the sound from the vocalist. I'd love it if I could get some enlightenment.)

    • @tkldr
      @tkldr Před 4 lety

      You can boost the gain after it compresses the vocal, kinda like normalizing the level overall.
