Parker Valby Situation Is Getting Out Of Control

  • Obviously, trusting the process is a strategy that works well for Parker Valby. Given how she performed at the indoor track-and-field season opener a few weeks back, it’s pretty obvious that trusting her coaches and herself is one of the best things she could ever do!
As she is still basically at the collegiate level, some of you may not know much about #parkervalby , an American #trackandfield and cross-country athlete. But let me tell you this: she exhibits the qualities of a fast-rising track star. Perhaps in a few years, she’d be competing against Sha’Carri Richardson and Gabby Thomas.
In fact, Parker Valby has a long list of accolades especially in the 5k. Last year alone, she was a Gold Medalist in the 5000 meters at the 2023 All-SEC Outdoor First Team. She also backed up her 5000m national title on the track outdoors with a statement victory over #katelyntuohy of North Carolina State.
This came as a pleasant surprise especially since Valby suffered an injury just before the 2023 indoor track season and had to sit it out. This somehow worked in her favor, though, since she entered the SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in mid-May more than prepared. For context, she only had one other opportunity to race and test her fitness. Her coach said her recovery was ahead of schedule, and based on the intensity and effort of the race she won a week prior-a 15:32 solo effort-they knew she could still contend for the title in the 5,000 meters at SECs.

I can't say enough good about Valby but for you to suggest she might be competing against top US sprinters sounds loopy on the face of it. What exactly did you mean?

She won’t compete against pro sprinters, she is a distance runner! Distance runners need to put these videos together

I don't think he is referring to competing in their event. Competing with them for popularity.

Please stop with these ridiculous videos when you obviously have no understanding of middle distance Track running. I am not negative on Parker Valby (nor Kaitlyn Tuoy) They are both fine athletes. BUT, in middle/long distance running, College level in the USA is NOT the top level. (Sprinters level is different) The top level is Open Grade. College grade is second rate, in middle distance running. Meaning winning NCAA races is NOT the achievement you think it is. I wish BOTH these runners good luck. They will need it because they are way behind the top runners even in USA!
Meaning I sincerely doubt they will even go close to making the USA Olympic team for 2024 at either 5,000 or 10,000m as they are not in the top 10 of their events. They are simply not good enough... YET. If they keep improving, in another 4 years they might be good enough to challenge the best in the world but they need to improve their best 5000m times at least 45-60 seconds! Plus, both are too slow re finishing speeds and will need to move up to the 10k. Note: Top 5000m runners can also run 1.58 for 800 and sub 4m for 1500m. These two are simply not in that league.

I think that's a fair analysis. Tuohy, as we know, was the most successful high school girl cross country runner of all time, and only behind Mary Cain on the track. She successfully transitioned to college and dominated middle distance from May of 2022 until May of 2023. Now she is training half in NC and half in Flagstaff. On Instagram a week or two ago she said she was working on getting healthy for outdoor season. She has long had a goal of making the Olympic team, which I think is crazy, but it will be interesting to see what kind of times she runs up to the Trials. I agree that she is likely to be a much more mature runner in 2028, but it remains to be seen if she will emerge as a dominant pro force, as she was as a HS girl and collegian.

@@Philobiblion TY. I agree with your assessment 100% and wish both young women the best of success. I think they can achieve 2028 Olympics and even become one of the top level runners in the world. But there is a lot of normal life "living" to do between now and 2028. Once they leave the cloistered situation of USA College, that is semi pro with all the benefits they get, life will become tough. Getting sponsorships will be essential, by Corporate Clubs or big Companies, or they will have to actually get a job to support themselves. This is where 98% of even top College/University athletes in USA end up "retiring" and getting into real life.
I've followed KT especially since mid High School. (I coached a number of young male and female High School runners so have seen and experienced all they go through) I think she can do it. PV might have more difficulty with the big improvements required time wise... but we will see, eh! Good luck to them both.

@@johnwilson5743 Parker Valby went from barely breaking 17 minutes, running 16:54 in her sopohmore year to suddenly sub 15:20 in her junior year, and than 14:52 a few months later, I think she might be able to break 14:30 by her senior year. (The world record for womens 5k is 14 flat so 14:52 isn't that far off of making the Olympic team, although I haven't watched too many womens olympic middle to long distance races so maybe I'm wrong)
