Everything will break … but the sad part about this honest opinion is that they will give you a tour pack after tour pack … but give a paying customer nothing but a hard time
From what I've heard advanblack is pretty good about taking care of people. Hopefully they are not that way. Hopefully they improve their product
That is exactly true!! If the product doesn't last for either an "influencer" or "paying customer" then the product should be replaced regardless.
Man that’s a shame! So many people are influenced by content creators. Glad to see someone be transparent. You know what they say? “You can warranty a turd but it’s still a turd.” Good info.

Great honest review.. i’ve noticed a few comments on here, saying watch the weight, but that has nothing to do with the paint neither..
Wow thanks for the info I was considering a advanblack tour pack but I will need to reconsider that. Granted I don't normally run a load like you were on this trip, but I want equipment that I can depend on.
Hey man, I appreciate your honesty. Too many CZcamsrs, these days out there, getting sponsored by these companies and not giving honest reviews. I actually just went through the same thing with a pair of SE Ohlins suspension. Long story short, reservoir hoses started to rust and Harley nor Ohlins will warranty them sucks after paying $1600 for the set. Sometimes the more expensive isn’t always the way to go. Thanks again for the honest review.
We ran like you for years. In the past 2 years, we went to pulling a Bushtec. It allows a substantial amount of storage if needed.
Just to be fair…I believe the tour packs have a weight limit. Just making sure you were following it.
Yes for sure! Tour Packs have a weight limit so does the Tour Pack Rack & your Saddlebags.
At the end of the day, a $1500+ tour pack shouldn’t break like that. These companies are out here justifying these expensive ass products saying they’re built with better quality when in reality they’re no different from the cheap Amazon shit.
Im pretty sure i ran across the info for my tour pack recently. If im not mistaken 25lbs is the max. I bet most people over load them. I know i do
Also. Ive had harley amd afterarket tour packs and bags. I busted jardware on harley bags and tour packs but never blew out the plastic. The after market stuff always falls apart. Ive not had advan black. Ive heard alot of good things about advanblack, this is too bad. I hoped they were better.
I had bought some of their bag lids with speaker holes. Both the paint has started chipping (not even a year old) and both leak all the time.
I remember that. I had a cheap tourpak from amazon on my bike. It lasted one trip to Sturgis. I also had cheap saddlebags off amazon. They held up but they were hard to open and close. Sometimes it does not pay to buy inexpensive stuff.
Yes!! It was a little bit of a headache dealing with our luggage.... we still had right at 1,000 miles before we got to Sturgis. You are right... sometimes it doesn't pay!

I don't want to purchase the oem trunk but due to this info it looks like I need to. Who cares how long it took to show us. The proof is in the pictures. Thanks for sharing.
I got super lucky. I picked up a 23 Street Glide Special and the dealership offered $1500 off the bike of a free tour pack. I was planning on putting $3000 down so I told then to take the $1500 off the bike I put another $1500 down and then ordered the tour pack. I was going to get the Avanblak tour pack but ended up getting the HD for free.
I ordered a tour pack from Advan as well. Used it twice on the bike, sat inside the house the other time. The paint is peeling on the latch, emailed Advan with pics and they said I could reorder latch but would have to pay for it. Less than 6 months old. Last item I purchased from them! Other companies stand behind their product 100%! Not Advan Black….
Thank for being honest i just put advanblack lowers on my 23 roadglide 3 yesterday. The parts came from a china wearhouse not going to lie im worried about the quality of them i spent $430 on them to be paint to match because were highly recommended from other riders. Thank you for the awesome content ....RIDE SAFE
That blows goats but swap meet tour packs are the way to go. Have you been to the Webster Fl swap meet? The Northerners come down in the winter and ask stupid prices thinking we're a bunch of stupid rebels, but you can generally get what you need.
On your new tour pack if you can request to add hinges to have at least four or three hinges on there if they were do it if not you should buy or get two more hinges and add them yourself you should also add a second plate underneath larger than the plate that is in the Tour pack that go all the way out to the outside bottom radius

could have been the weight that caused the crack for sure. Also, it was great customer service that they sent you another one, but I will say the paint had to been rushed and the matte clear on it has failed or something causing it to break down. I have a OEM tour pack that came on my ultra, but I've never had it loaded down but my bike has 34k miles and so far, the tour pack looks like the day I bought the bike. Great review guys
Yes very much so! Tour Pack & Tour Pack Luggage Racks as well as Saddlebags have a weight limit on them. Great point that we should have mentioned but to be honest... we don't weight our "load" every time we go on a trip. We have the HD oem tour pack on our Limited & not a single issue.
With your truthful experience with the product it may help advandblack improve there product and also any other companies do the same
We want everyone to succeed & don't want anyone's business or product to suffer but until there are improves.... these products do not work well with our riding style.

I ran into you and Steph in Sturgis this year. My Advanblack tourpaack broke in the of Nebraska this year also. I wish i could post a picture here.
Advanblack using ABS plastic. Harley uses the GTX PPO (PA/PPE) plastic for their parts, which is stronger and doesn't dissolve in Acetone.
When I went to buy Tour pac's for two of mine I almost pulled the trigger on Advanblack but I was concerned about the quality, not that I knew anything about the quality mind you but I ended up buying O.E. tour pac's from H-D. Now I don't know if their quality is any better or not but I payed double what an Advanblack would have cost so I hope it is.
I know this video is old but if you are in need of a king tour pack, I have one that has never been drilled for hinges or latch if your interested. It is raw, never been painted but it’s new old stock from a closing Harley dealer a few years back.
I would be interested in seeing a video on just exactly how you loaded it for that trip?
Advanblack is great more for the more casual riders in my opinion. You guys torture tested haha. Personally I have stuck to Harley for tour packs and body parts but wouldn’t be afraid of them for the right use. Two people on a bike for that long is tough on any products.

There is a weight limit for the tour pack and the tour pack luggage rack it should b listed on the pack ✌️
You have a rear camera? How you have that set up?
I had the heat shield issue on my rocker boxes. Did you fix that melted paint or you just left it? If you fixed it how did you do it? (Also replaced Advanblack lowers because they chipped after a year.)
Some rubber mounting could help as well..
I appreciate the review, but doesn't even a stock tour pak have only a 30-35 pound rating? How heavy was the RikRak bag, fully loaded, more than 30 pounds??
Maybe it was over loaded, that has happened to so many. There is a weight limit to every trunk.
I am running NASTY HOG - 55k plus hard miles Sturgis and back, plus Baltimore and DC shitty roads daily.
I bought an advanblack tourpack for my Street glide back in 2017. It was great I compared it to Harleys and they were of the same quality. Fast forward to 2020 I put an advanblack tour pack on my 2020 Road glide and it was garbage in every way from the build quality to the backrest and the latch I went through 2 latched within a couple months. Finally put a Harley latch on it never had another problem. But it was a crappy product. I'll never buy any advanblack product again.
Possibly there product maker has been using a low quality plastic or the design of the monting bracket needs to be re-engineered a bit
Has your experience with the Harley Limited tour pack been better?
We built the "The Big Boar" (22RG Limited) at the beginning of 2022 riding season..... We haven't had a single issue with the latches, hinges, rack or the tour pack itself.
You need a trailer
In my opinion, nothing beats a solid steal sissy bar. It's disgusting to me to see the ridiculous retail mark-up practices that HD and every other bike company continue to push on the community with plastics. If it's not steal, it's cheap.

Pretty simple really. You seriously overloaded the rack and tourpak, and broke them. That’s all on you. Pretty much like those internet pics with 16 sheets of plywood on the roof of a Honda Civic, with the suspension bottomed out and the roof about to give way.
Your bike has a 1360 pound gross vehicle weight rating. Subtracting the weight of the bike and accessories you’ve added, leaves about 460 pounds for the two of you and all your gear, in the tourpak, on the tourpak, and in the saddlebags. I’m guessing you are way overloaded on the bike as well. “Well, everyone else does it” is not an excuse.

You guys waited over two years to show us this??that doesn’t make sense to me that you would wait that long when you’re looking out for your viewers and the description says you didn’t want to put out a negative review but that’s exactly what should have been done 2 years ago not now, sorry but I’m not feeling this video, I have to wonder if the sponsorship ended or something and now the negative stuff is coming out, love watching the travel videos but sorry I’m not feeling this review video
That makes a great point. Advanblack has never sponsored us. We weren't sure if we wanted to release the horrible experience that we had however we have had 4 individuals in the last several months with the same issues.... it was time.
I would rather they test something for a long time. Too many reviewers use a product for a couple days. In the case of this tour pack, it would be a disappointing investment.
