problem i noticed is that u had to cut the scene of the videos before the machine puts the object to the box ,which means probably there is a chance that your machine had a hard time detecting the object effectively in real time, other than that the concept is good and keep it up

Yes you can but both sensors are used for different purposes.
Still you want to add proximity then you need to make a small change in code

Servo motor need stable power supply and if we r using non original arduino then there are power supply stability issues.
You can provide separate power supply to servo

When u put wet waste on sensor little bit press it on sensor so that sensor can detect moisture
