Take the ride of a lifetime aboard Amtraks California Zephyr! This DVD with Bonus Railfan Second Section Video is the second in a series from Emmy award-winning documentary producer John Yeager. Your video adventure starts in Chicago and winds through Americas heartland on its journey westward.
A great deal of this documentary was shot by Emmy award winning photographer Jim Bolser exclusively for Green Frog. Jims photography gives you extraordinary scenes of head end cab action through the canyons of Western Colorado, and exciting aerial photography over the peaks of the high Sierras. Additional outstanding photography was also supplied by world renouned photographer Steve Neff who spent more than a
month following the Cal-Z from Chicago to the West coast capturing splendid action off train.
During your 2400 mile trip on the Zephyr youll visit with some fasinating people including a Rocky Mountain medicine man, a rodeo star they call the One-Armed Bandit, and a Nevada Cowboy Poet, just to name a few. On your trip youll also meet AMTRAKs most interesting and colorful crews and find out why a Colorado engineer says he has the best job in the world.
Your tour makes a special stop at Utahs historic Golden Spike Monument and inside the treasured California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento. So gather your friends for a journey youll never forget aboard AMTRAKs California Zephyr and discover the Great American West!

All abored All ABORD AMTRAK!!!!
travelling from chicago to san fran on the zephyr was the best way to travel across the US. the train staff were amazing, and way cheaper than flying. the scenery was amazing.
I have this VHS tape. I bought it new at a train show many years ago. Man oh man, it doesn't seem like it was THAT long ago.
Amtrak rocks and soon it will become the elite of all rail travel! T.C.
I grew up riding trains in Ukraine, ever since moving to the US I've always wanted to try trains but was put off by the fact that the trains here were 'coach' - not until I found out that there are sleeping cars, I got excited all over again. And the Zephyr is one train that is on my "to ride" list
I'm remember watching this movie when I was 7 I missed this show
My dad works for Amtrak
I'm here from the future.
This train is THE BEST ING EVER
NICE FILM THANKS
For another of rockys
What happened to the 30 minute version?
Desert wind
I guess Wally’s last name was given after the money, correct?
This is an old video cause they mentioned the Desert Wind. And that train line is no longer existing.
is that julie announcing the zephyr departure?
How long did it take the westbound Amtrak California Zephyr to go through the Moffat Tunnel?
Moffat Tunnel is 6.2 miles long so assuming 40 mph probably about 10 minutes give or take.
@@riogrande5761 When did David Zimmerman get to drive the westbound Amtrak California Zephyr passenger train throughout the Moffat Tunnel?
It got lost
Dang, no Genesis locos?
G. Lee I like emd f40ph locomotives
F40PH are a lot better then the genesis
@Waluigi943isBack
My brother is like that. It sucks!
Does she still work there?
philpher lin no, the last time I heard was that she worked in Union Station
Beats being anal searched in a airport terminal, to get on a cramped plane next to big cookie though.... Especially with prices for train cheaper for plane. And Train being more fuel efficient.
00:05:00 what’s the engineer’s last name?
Price
@@YukariAkiyamaTanks thank you
Man I miss those Amtrak F-40 PH engines, those new engines that Seimens electrics are just ugly, but that's just my opinion
