- Cook your Thanksgiving turkey much faster, thanks to spatchcocking. This technique involves removing the backbone to lay the turkey flat so the bird cooks evenly and quickly and develops wonderfully crispy skin. James Schend, Taste of Home Deputy Editor, will walk you through how to spatchcock a turkey and prepare it for your roasting pan for the easiest holiday main dish yet.

Soo concise and to the point. Much appreciated. 🥂
Super concise. Great video!
Thank you James!!
Excellent presentation!!!
Life saver!
Thank you
How long did you cook it for
Thx
Very good
Great video. My husband and I were wondering if you still cover it with foil while its roasting in the oven since it cooks so much quicker using this technique. Im going to still cover with aluminum foil just in case. Ill check on it throughout its cooking time I guess. Great video though. Very helpful.
Oh. It’s just the backbone. I though it was all the bones. I’ve never done this but will try it next year.
Why am I just hearing of this technique in 2023? Better late than never! 😁
Hi James!
So... Turkey CPR. Got it.
only 8 hours in the fridge? I heard double that time is good, too
Can you fry it like that?
My Uncle made this for Thanksgiving this year
Can I use pink sea salt
No it will ruin it
I have and it works
@@evet8101 I tried it worked great first time doing like this way better taste and juicyness crispy skin oh man
@@robertromero8094 awesome I wished I would have known about this years ago
But what if I don’t have time to brine it would it still come out good
Not really. Turkey is dry and tasteless without seasoning penetrating through the thick meat. Dry or wet brining should be done. If you don't have time for that, injection is your next best option.
You edited out the part of the backbone that was really difficult to cut.
Why scissors?
You forgot to flip that bird over and also season 😢
Ded flat bird
Is my roadkill already spatchcocked?
Oh good I can use both hands cuz I used both hands spatchcocking a chicken!

Definitely NOT a wild turkey :(
Hope he sanitizes his watch. I kept seeing it touch the raw bird. 🤢
