Thinking about doing this as well. Have you noticed any increased mud/dirt, etc getting up in the engine compartment due to the liners being cut?
Great video! How do you like this high clearance steel plates after about 1 year of use? Do you still think it worth it? Does it really cover and protect something in real world situation? I’m a bit concerned about their weight and if they actually add any benefit to the build versus just a cut with rubber molding. For sure, steel is better than rubber/plastic, but will them actually be rigid enough in case of rock or tree hitting the corner of the car?
You did a great job on trimming and have a really nice fit. I have been on the fence on adding these additions to my C4 bumper because most of the installs I have seen have had really ugly gaps between the plastic bumper cover and the additions. I am pretty OCD about my 4runner, and this job has looked like it can be a real PIA to get it perfect. Thanks for the video, maybe I will go-ahead and make the purchase. Also my bumper sits just like yours does height wise. Thank you.
Heck yeah. I am fairly OCD to a degree...lets just say the adjusting was like an hour or two...it wasn't too bad. You could do it in an afternoon... I honestly also wonder if it was worse for me because I kind of free handed with some loose measurements off my old cuts rather than starting from the template.

Honestly the edge trim hides all the imperfections. Just get the edge trim that has the metal inserts so it doesn't move and last longer.

So why is it that no one talks about the annoying bolt on the high clearance additions that is in between one of the support sheets. If you pause the video at 20:49 and count the bolts from left to right and top to bottom it is bolt #3. The only way to get to this is with a wrench, and hopefully you have a ratchet wrench. I wish this bolt was placed where you could use a socket instead because in lining everything up, and then forgetting to do things with the winch (i did bumper and winch at the same time) it was the bolt i grew to hate. P.S. i bought the edge trim and it looks so much better. It is very difficult to get lines that match the shape of the HC Additions (and i suck at cutting straight w/ a Dremel), and this hides all imperfections.
i realy like your built 4r...i just wanna tell you something if your tires does not have signs of imperfections like small spider crack or rough spots on the side wall specially below the mickey thomson letterings...i have them on my tires...just a heads up...tnx
