    I got a stock Kriss Vector that pisses me off when I try to spam the trigger and if half cycles, and I got a DSG gear laying around, your video are almost convincing me to do the same lmao But I also got a project of HPAing it with my own designed 3D printed "gearbox" (without laying the Polarstar engine diagonal, instead it will sit straight to the hop up just like an M4) because the main downside of this gun to me is the weight, so HPAing it would solve both problems, performance and a lot of weight reduction (cuz what weights a lot on this gun is the entire gearbox).

    built a great dsg off this platform had to replace the tappet plate and the cylinder head because that krytac padding is terrible. also cut the sector arl and bevel arl that reversed the gears when going to safe. prolly have about 3000 hours just on vectors

  • @felipeduarte1997
    @felipeduarte1997 Před 9 měsíci

    2 months later I'm rewatching this (I love teching video to get sleepy and your's are awesome hahahaha) and I have a doubt: After you milled the hole where the pin of the tappet goes, it could move further backwards, preventing it bending and even breaking the tappet. Then I tought about the piece that goes on the right side of the gearbox that link the tappet with the part that pushes the nozzle, the slight curve link (At 5:26, you can see, the part that goes on the channel below the wire sticker, that links the tappet with the nozzle thing)... If you filled the gearbox hole making room for the tappet to go further back, isn't it necessary to do that on the curve piece too? because the hole of the gearbox and the piece are the same, aren't they? If so, then the tappet go all the way to the back now, isntead of the gearbox making the tappet pin bend, now the curve linkage would do that, right? Hope you understand what I mean...

    • @j-airsoft
      @j-airsoft  Před 9 měsíci +1

      I checked that as well, there's more space for the linkage to move than the pin

    my tappet plate arm holding the nozzle doesn't have enough space to move back to let the tappet plate move forward, causing the tappet plate leg to bend still even after filing the channel down.

    where did u learn the stuff abt optimal motor tpa, gear ratio, spring rate etc. i know the basics but how do u optimize. how do u find out what a good spring rate is for a specific set up etc??

    • @j-airsoft
      @j-airsoft  Před 5 měsíci

      I do not know what an optimal motor tpa is, I just prefer higher-ish TPA when working in brushed motors because I'm a sucker for torque.
      I pick the spring that pushes the piston fast enough to dodge PME and gives me enough energy out the muzzle

    Ah yes, the good ol broken tappet post in a DSG. You need to thin the tappet fin where the sector picks it up in order to keep that from happening, learned that one from my homie midwest tech. I made my own video on my vector after i got my set of mutations gears and my t238 where i show exactly what i mean ablut the tappet fin

    • @Fatman-ze9dv
      @Fatman-ze9dv Před 2 měsíci +2

      I wouldn't do that cuz if you shorten the side of the fin it won't pull back the nozzle 100% which results in feeding issues, you would then need to use a shorter than usual nozzle which in turn will result in poor nozzle-bucking seal. And in a dsg build eigther feeding issues or poor seal will break your neck

    • @j-airsoft
      @j-airsoft  Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@Fatman-ze9dv you're correct on a general v2 basis, but the issue stems from the different tappet cam spacing on the rocket dsg specifically

  • @theforgottenairsoft7634

    Im very new to AEG tech work, why wouldn't you replace all the bushings with bearings instead of just a few?

    • @j-airsoft
      @j-airsoft  Před 11 měsíci

      In higher stress builds, the spur's larger side's bearings tend to explode due to the forces it gets subjected to so I don't put bearings there for anything spicy. The bevel on the other hand is on the speed side of the gear ratio so it doesn't experience nearly as high shock or force so he's fine to be bearings. That's also the gear that benefits the most from bearings. The other gears spin about one time a cycle and MUCH slower. My sr25 only pulls an sp120 so it's all bearings.

    • @j-airsoft
      @j-airsoft  Před 11 měsíci +1

      This is anecdotal, so take it with a grain of salt, but I've had bad experiences with Perun's silicone stranded wiring. One instance, I swapped my leviathan out for a perun and clicker on my sr25, and the motor was being starved; I could hear it struggling to spin up to speed, and this is with the exact same shimming. My only explanation is silicone wiring in this gauge has too much resistance. Replaced with silver ptfe and my problems went away. It's also way easier to mold and route

    how much for the total upgrade?

  • @ThePropBender
    @ThePropBender Před 11 měsíci +2

    11:17 Yes, you will loose some volume, but only if you have full cylinder. If you have hole in your cylinder and your shimmed piston opens the hole anyway, you still have the same volume. Adding pad on piston head in gun with hole in cylinder leads to volume loss, shimming piston doesn't (as long as your piston head clears the hole, doesn't matter how much). With full cylinders you loose volume in both cases.

    • @j-airsoft
      @j-airsoft  Před 8 měsíci +1

      for an aeg, shim everything that has a gear, use a helical bevel/pinion, weaker spring and slower cycle for the longer dwell time, use rubber pads for aoe instead of plastic shims to dampen the piston slap, get the right volume ratio so you don't generate a massive pop out the front or find a muzzle solution to absorb extra energy
