    You can tell Prinze and Albertson had a natural father/son chemistry and love for each other,beyond the characters they played. It was real and what made the show a hit, we can hear it in his voice here so sad as if his real son died 💔

    So much sadder in hindsight that Freddie never got to see his son Freddie Prinze Jr. grow up, become an actor, marry Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and have children.

    After Prinze's death, the production crew noticed how disturbed Albertson was on set, becoming very irritable and difficult shooting the last season of the show. It affected him deeply.

    i was one of the kids back then who was a big fan of the show, and i looked up to him. i was 12 , when he died. i heard about it, and i read about...being 12, i was confused...not knowing anything about suicide, nor cocaine abuse....but i felt very sad, cause i looked up to freddie prinze, as if he was my hollywood big brother...now going thru my own struggles, i feel i loved him , and i share in some struggles, that he may have had, and i see him as a warm person, who also made you laugh in his stand up...it is sad he died so young. but as a young guy at the time, he gave me a lot...and he gave me a treasure of his memory , and a brief and shinning light , oh so long ago.

      Me and my brother were little about 5 and 7 and we use to watch the show we heard he died but again we were little we were confused to. I'm sad I'm watching CNN about comedy and the way he died was the same way my brother died suicide aftermath can be destutive but as family we had to pick up the pieces but the question that is always asked is why

      In the show Ed Brown was a cold & heartless person, but you can tell without any doubt that Jack loved Freddie very much, just as many of us do. RIP Jack Albertson & Freddie Prinze.

      @@jackwarren3882 "Chico and the Man" was one of my favorite shows as a kid and remains so today. I don't think that Jack Albertson's "Ed" was heartless and cold as you say, but rather out of touch with a changing world and with Chico. Or just didn't want to adapt to both of them at first. I certainly agree that Mr. Albertson had a great deal of love and respect for Mr. Prinze and they surely showed in his eulogy. And I'd like to think that they further inspired the on-screen father/son relationship between the curmudgeonly Ed Brown and the easygoing Chico Rodriguez. RIP to both of them.

    So very sad. You can see singer Paul Williams and Tony Orlando as pall bearers. Tony was devastated they were good friends. 😢

    I remember the day Freddie (Mr. Prinze) transitioned because the elders in the neighborhood were in tears and hugging each other over the tragedy. I lived on Dyckman St & Post Ave in early to late 70's. My Aunt (R I P) was in the same Jr High School Class as Freddy (JHS 52). My Aunt said Freddie was a funny dude back then and till this day is held in very high regard in the Neiborhood. R I P King!!

      What does Jack Albertson say at the end ? I can't make it out , even with the slower speed..       @@jmason2838 Jack was extremely distraught and his heart was breaking - he really loved and cared for his young co-star (who was young enough to be his grandson) - he was so broken up he was unable to finish his eulogy - afterwards he was to have read a telegram that David Brenner sent saying he was sorry he couldn't honor Freddie in death but was glad to be among the very few who honored him in life.

      ​@@alexisdiva9I remember watching David Brenner interviewed on an episode of the E! True Hollywood Story which focused on Freddie Prinze around 15 to 20 years ago. During his interview, David said that he still visited Freddie in spirit during his weekly visits with Freddie Jr. I've heard David remained close friends with Freddie Jr, his mother, and even became friends with Sarah Michelle Gellar. David would also visit Freddie's grave weekly.

    I remember being 5 years old at that time and asking my Dad why Chico and Man was not on TV anymore and he told me that "Chico" had killed himself. At age 5 I didn't grasp it all, but I missed seeing "Chico and the Man."

    I had just turned 13. I was at my hockey game when one of my teammates broke the news to the rest that Freddie Prinze had died. The rest of us said, "No, you must be mistaken. He's just a young man." It was hard for someone my age to comprehend why a healthy and successful young star would choose to end his own life.

    l remember hearing the sad news of Freddie Prinze l was devasted all Hispanics poeple were crying cuz they loved this man and he was funny. l miss him everyday. He had alot going with his career. He was so young. lt was sad. wats his wife doing there she hurt him.alot for not letting him see his kid. That got him.to end his life. Thanks to her. l don't feel bad for the wife she broke his heart and he was hurt. lf she had let him see his kid none of this would not had happen. He would had been alive today. Rest in Peace Chico.

      @@andywinslow9638 Robin Williams knew a lot about Harvey Weinstein..and others in the entertainment industry..(Epstein and the celeb 'friends' traveling on the 'LolitaExpress' for jet visits to his torture island? 🏝️😔Maybe he knew too much?) Robin was also changing his will.. he and wife were sleeping in separate bedrooms . He was changing the will to give his children more and the wife less..and his push - button bedroom lock could be triggered to open from a locked position.. from the outside..some curious points to consider .. maybe it wasn't a suicide..his death was just arranged to appear that way.. ?🕵️..🤨.all stated here is just my humble opinion..🤔

    back in chi-town here he was always being interviewed by a great radio talk show host that passed. his name was chicago eddie schwartz. could have been wind am or wgn or even wls am as eddie jumped around throughout his career. what eddie reported was that freddie had made many phone calls prior to his death and one that he did make was to eddie who was not available and the call went to his answering machine. now who really knows the timeline on all of that, however i do know that ed did get calls from and interviewed freddie. thanks for this post, cap!

      The show was shot at nbc Burbank I believe and back in this era I took the nbc tour watched the tonight show band in rehearsal prior to the taping saw the chico and the man set and I believe Sanford and son and the gong show it's been many years so forgive my memory. Freddy was born two years after myself dead so soon senseless but possibly he found the peace he was seeking agree with other posters what a tremendous talent and also agree he and Jack really had incredible chemistry that came through the tv

If you get the right person in archives they are really cool about shooting you digital copies of stuff if they have it already digitalized. Can't believe some of the stuff you'll find from the seventies looking for things totally different then what you intended
